Duchess Avrenne Esprit Fallon Admiral Siamus Fallon

February 8th, Year 30

Dearest Siamus,

I expect you already know what news this must be, given the date of the arrival of this letter in accordance with our prior conversation, and I am most pleased that I can confirm your happiest of hopes upon seeing this missive: I am with child.

My physician and her assistant have verified it accordingly. The expected arrival will be September 30th, and as this time there is only one, we should be able to reasonably conclude the usual range from that date. I am in exceptional health, and my physician says there is no cause for even the slightest of cautions this time, beyond the usual baseline. I am also completely well, and thus far have noted no difference for this third experience differing from the past two, except perhaps that it does seem comparably far easier to my memory of the boys, though that might be expected.

I hope that all is well abroad, and that both Shine and Mrs. Shine continue to thrive in Pandaria’s unique circumstances as best they may. Perhaps Ralaea may find some of the continuing lack of concrete action sufficient time to study both spherical and stationary concepts to some effect.

The household news here is one of general well being. Ery still has not yet outgrown in fondness The Clacker, and if anything she has grown a greater awareness of the noise’s power in a negotiation tactic for certain people – she has begun to clack it louder when she suspects she might not get her way, and use it less when someone relents. It’s very clever of her, but I have encouraged that no one submit to this particular tactic, as it will only prolong the Clacker’s use in her tactical arsenal.

Elliot and Eamon are walking as fine little gentlemen now, and speaking more every day. They have taught each other the other’s words, so that Elliot can now say, “Oh, no,” and Eamon, “Oh, boy,” although not quite in the same tone as the original one who spoke it first. Ery has refined her attempts of “avast” and “belay” into more comprehensible versions, though they are still not entirely clear, and has attempted to use them on the boys at high volume she has mimicked from the harbor calls. Elliot finds both words hilarious, and Eamon finds them a bit startling, especially when shouted directly at him; neither can repeat them back as of yet. This has not stopped Ery from trying to impart them.

Elliot and Eamon’s vocabulary have also expanded, though not in complete parallel, as they diverge in some interests in communication. Elliot has taken to: “hi,” “go,” and “Ee.” The last of which is the least distinctly clear, as it most definitely applies to either Ery or Eamon, but he uses the sound most consistently, and only for them, so it is obviously an attempt at their names, and ordinarily means he wants to go out and play with them or find Ery. Eamon’s words are: “Mama,” “no,” and “door.” The last is meant when he wishes to go back to the nursery and have the door closed, usually indicating that he would like some quiet time, away from the others.

We are also in the midst of preparations for Isla’s 18th birthday, which she is entirely thrilled about, and desires to know again when she might be allowed more properly out into Society. I have told her that as nothing substantial has altered in circumstances, that our prior arrangements and conclusions have held, and there is no cause for renegotiation at this time. It was a cause of great moping distress until she remembered how many cakes we have ordered for the occasion, and all was well once more.

I must admit that I have some small concern about Finley, though I cannot even say precisely what it is. He hasn’t said anything, of course, and he appears to be doing well in his work. He had a bit of a coup recently with an unexpected new painting secret that came out at a party, something that had been kept for several decades by a notoriously tight-lipped painter. I cannot shake the sense, however, that there is something amiss with him, and it began some time while I was away in Pandaria. Perhaps a trip will shake whatever ennui has seized him. I do hope to send him to Pandaria soon, to follow up on some of the contracts I established, and work on several artistic pieces for social promptings here, much as I have used Priscilla’s works in the past to similar effect.

Otto has been hard at work in cultivating a wildflower garden space on the edge of the property far from the cliffs, meant to establish a “Children’s Garden” space with flowers that are more acceptable to pick and pluck at. He felt that it wasn't fair to the little ones that there are too many that cannot be touched or picked in the garden and greenhouse, and so he has set out to remedy this. At the moment, his work is on the rocks, which must be “correct.” I am not clear on the criteria of the correctness, and he has not been able to fully explain, so it is a task that we have been obliged to leave to his own devising, but he says he is making the progress that is right, so he is content.

And thus we are all kept in our peace in our lovely house by the sea, in our restful days of peace, where we may concern ourselves with new babies, new words, new birthdays, new arts, and new gardens. That is what you buy us each passing day with your blood and sweat, in your wind and water. We hold here in deep gratitude for it. Your homeward star shines on, and I will go down to the sea and the shrine today with our first offering to give thanks for our blessing, and I will wait for you, always, for the second.

With my greatest of love and hope,
Your wife,
Avrenne Esprit Fallon

PS: My compendium of Pandaren constellations arrived promptly, and I have been perusing its pages avidly, as you may imagine, in great detail as you like.
