Dear Prospector Brannagen Stillwall,
Thank you for bringing your concerns to me, as a captain and as a friend. I can’t be in Pandaria myself for reasons I’ll totally announce soon, but which you know. On that note, all’s well, according to my healers, and they’re becoming larger and more complex at the expected rate (oh, also, there are two of them!). Still, it has been stressed to me that this is dangerous, for all that plenty of women do this at some point in their lives, so I’m ‘taking it easy’. By which I mean my picture of Pandaria is primarily from a variety of reports, your letter included.
As I’m sure you know, Anduin’s safety is of critical importance to his father, and to the kingdom of Stormwind as a whole. Logistically, it is incredibly frustrating that he’s making himself so difficult to protect, whether that’s due to adolescence or anything else. I’ve confirmed that the Prince is not intended to be allowed to run free, and that actions will be taken to safeguard his well-being. To note, Admiral Fallon has a man tracking him (Baird), and there’s a team from the army (led by Azuredown) that should catch up soon to serve as a guard.
I recognize that Lieutenant Atley is a human, and humans seem to take concepts of royalty and destiny much more seriously than you and I. All the same, I trust Dane’s judgment, and he is the ranking officer in the field. Whatever his feelings about the Prince’s destiny in Pandaria, I am confident his actions will be consistent with the orders we have from the King regarding the Prince’s safety. I will confirm as much with him, just to make sure we’re all on the same page, and I will keep an eye on future reports with your concerns in mind.
I’ve also always known Dane to welcome discussion, after his fashion (sometimes one must interpret the grunts), so I would encourage you to discuss your misgivings further with him at a time when you are not being beset by tigers or sha or mantid or the like.
As for the Prince, I wonder if this is a case of adolescent brattiness, or if it’s simply a case of adolescent ‘you adults wouldn’t understand’-ness. Seeing as he’s seemed rather sensible and wise in the past, it makes me wonder if there’s something driving him now that he is just having difficulty finding a way to satisfactorily explain in words. Regardless, either scenario is the same from our perspective. He must be found, protected, and ideally compelled to explain himself. For the moment, this is not the task of Blue Squad, but I expect the squad will react appropriately if you encounter him again, especially if he’s shaken off his assigned guards.
Prince or not, I agree that we must not forget he is a fifteen year old boy, and those so young have a tendency to believe themselves immortal. At least we can be pleased he isn’t into explosives? I’m sure I gave my own father a few grey hairs in that regard, even though I was restricted to Gnomeregan.
