Darling Arric -

Gosh it is delightful to hear from you! As it happens, at the moment the 6th E.U. has not been deployed — we did rather a lot in the last thing, frankly — and so I am very busy lounging languidly on my laurels. I am never clear why it is laurels we are meant to lie on, they are not a particularly interesting plant and likely to be rather poky, I suspect.

Naturally I am also and always in training, so it isn’t all lounging and laurels.

I heard all about your heroism at Bladefist Bay, Shay had nothing but praise and offered the opinion that you are quite wasted as a lower-level specialist in Cobalt Company. You could, naturally, come to the navy and I’m sure he would be very pleased, but I suspect your complex relationship with boats might discourage you. There’s no shortage of opportunities for heroism in the fleet, though. At the moment Shay is off doing something pioneering and, I am given to understand, slightly disastrous in Pandaria. Nothing to fear, naturally: If there is a disaster in the offing, Shay is certain to make it a hundred times worse and then people will look back on the current disaster fondly. He is a credit to the Alliance!!!

I do know Ionala Webster! That is I know of her — she did some work of some sort for Shay a year or two ago with that little Cobalt investigation team, and she was at the gala here. I think it is charming that you have formed a tendresse — I am absolutely sure she must be charmed as well!

I cannot offer you any insight into the motivation of women, I am afraid. There is an unspoken pact, you see, and the others would see me tarred and feathered if I should betray the feminine mysteries.

Also I have no idea, because women as a kind are not possessed of all the same motivations, Arric. We are just as particularly individual as men — I daresay even moreso — and I assure you that not every lady is driven to seek partnership for want of protection. (Please imagine my tone of fondest exasperation.) It may be that a lady who is capable and heroic would be very glad to meet a man who is the same, who would make a delightfully equal partner to join her in co-heroism.

Naturally I could be wrong. I am not, but I could be.

I am intrigued by your mysterious mission regarding two fallen kingdoms — I would observe that there are a finite number of those to guess at, but depressingly there are more than two so no reason to believe I am guessing correctly — and I do hope when it is concluded I will hear all about your daring undercover work.

Most importantly, however: a gryphon!!!! How marvelous!!!! I very much look forward to meeting the creature, whom I am sure you will enchant as thoroughly as all your beasts, and if you do not name her Jellyfish I will be cruelly disappointed. Please name her Jellyfish.

Awfully fondly,
Sintha
