Day 1

Dalaran is hell. The wind is dead, the stars feel fake, and everything about the place is wrong. I hear only a whooshing as the breeze flows past my ears, not the song I’ve always heard, and the stars are like paint spattered across a canvas; their light doesn’t reach me. Everything feels so empty. I hate it here.

Day 2

I started the mission. It began with asking around. Adrin stayed within shouting distance, but didn’t question anyone. We wore different faces for the second half of the day, and I switched up my stories. It would be strange if too many different people are interested in our mage friend. I will use caution. It’s hard to focus in this stifling graveyard. Reminder to finish this quick.

Day 3

Took a break today. Adrin decided to go shopping, and bought a book. There’s a pretty lass who works in the lounge of the inn I’m staying at. She’s a mage. We flirted some. When I complained about the magic of Dalaran (I was drunk,) she found me a little bottle of Eternal Air, and told me it came from an elemental. She’s right, the beautiful lass. It sings. I wear the bottle around my neck; it helps me survive this place. Conjured water is weird and it scares me.

Day 4

Another break. The lass invited me to lunch at the floating statue of some important mage. He’s dead, but it’s a floating statue, which is kinda cool. She brought wine. I’m usually not a wine kind of guy, but I’ve learned to drink anything. Her name is Samiella, but she goes by Sami. That’s probably for the best. I’ll respect her privacy and keep her name out of the reports to Fallon. Adrin finished his book.

Day 5

I did some more asking around. I’m getting a lot of the same story. The mage, Malus Everdell, has a young daughter, age ten at the time of disappearance, probably eleven now. He had an appointment in Elwynn one day, (timing lines up with info about cannon teleportation) then returned to Dalaran and vanished with his daughter. The Kirin Tor didn’t find out about the illegal use of teleportation magic until several days later, at which point a search was issued. His house was clear of personal effects, so finding something with a strong enough signal for psychometry(*) and other magical tracking methods was not possible.

I invited Sami to my room. We’re spending the night together. Good thing Adrin got a separate room. He knows me.

*Some sort of magical history revealer. Draining.

Day 6

Today I changed it up and asked around about Count Amerith instead. Most people only know him by name, some by reputation. Anyone who knows more about him is incredibly tight-lipped. I wonder if he has more pieces in Dalaran. It would make sense, given how readily he discarded one. There was one child who recalled having met him at the Darkmoon Faire several months ago. She had nothing but praise for him. Her name is Keiro Henson, just in case the Count is playing the long game with her. He’s probably not… right?

Day 7

I asked Sami about Malus Everdell. Her response was strange. She immediately changed the subject to her first crush, and asked if I could keep a secret. No, asking isn’t quite right. It was closer to begging. Sure, I thought, what’s the harm? I think I regret making that promise. Her first crush was none other than Kel’thuzad. That’s right, the corrupt mage of the Kirin Tor who went Scourge. She never did answer about Malus, but there’s something there, I know there is.

Day 8

Sami made herself scarce today, but that’s alright. Adrin caught a rumor while I was asking around that our mage friend Malus may have stolen from a privately owned goblin bank. Enough money to buy him a house, maybe a new life somewhere else. It’s a lead. They operate out of the Dalaran Sewers. I’ll check it out, but not yet. I want answers from Sami. I’m glad I kept her name out of the reports. She’s been good to me, and I have a feeling she got up to something she shouldn’t have.

Day 9

Met Sami at the landing area in Dalaran. She wanted to take me to see Icecrown Citadel. Adrin objected, for safety reasons, but I insisted, so he came with us, the wet blanket. It was an impressive structure, larger than I had even imagined. No wonder the war took so long. Seeing it, the forsaken place so many of us died to reach, was sobering. We didn’t get too close. We didn’t need to.

When we got back, Adrin retired to his room with a new book. Sami and I retired to mine. I asked her why she had shown me that place, and she said she’d always wanted to see Icecrown up close. Before, it was because of her crush, but now it reminded her of her wrongs. She had wanted to serve Kel’thuzad in death, as a lich herself, until someone convinced her not to.

Until Kaela Mondragon convinced her not to. I’ll note that in the report, but Fallon will have to fight me for her name. Strangely, Sami confirmed Mondragon was working with the Scourge. Why, then, would she convince Sami to cut her ties with them? Maybe Mondragon realized her error before the end? Or experienced some sort of… compassion for Sami? Wanted to use her for other plans? It’s speculation.

Sami worked with Mondragon to keep an eye on Ralaea Westwind, even working with a Sophie Hagstrom to steal an insignia from her bag. According to Sami, they were ordered only to observe and report, and never to make any moves on their own. It seems they followed orders. Is that truly treason? Fallon might believe so. He’s close with Westwind.

Day 10

I was going to visit the sewers today, but I didn’t. Someone is following me. Adrin noticed her. There are probably others, too, but not as persistent. Not as… aware of my shape changing. Something is up.

Day 11

Sami wanted to go on another date. I told her I was being watched, and that she should stay away. I think she’s worried. It’s for the best, though. Spent the day being boring. Hopefully it’s enough to shake them.

Day 12

Visited the sewers. There’s a whole crew of ‘bankers,’ varying races, led by the goblin. They don’t seem the lawful sort. If I had to guess, I’d say they’re eager to pursue our mage friend, and that murder is not out of the question. My mentioning his name all of a sudden probably stirred them up. The lass that was following me was with them. I was hidden, but she may still have noticed me. I’ll need to lay low for a bit.

Day 13

Miscalculated. She’s a worgen. They have a bloody worgen. We need to retreat.
