A series of letters sent out from Captain Jo Sparkwire.

Dear Dane Atley,

I’ve received an urgent request for aid by the Earthen Ring, and I’m assembling a team to respond. I will need someone to lead this team, which is why I’m writing to you. I know that you have only weeks ago finished an extensive campaign in Mount Hyjal, and you likely were looking forward to more time to spend with Ivri and Karson and the little one on the way.

To be transparent about everything, my available experienced team leaders are you and Ben. Ben just came back from an extensive campaign on the ocean floor, during much of which he was entirely out of contact with his family. On balance, I think he needs the R&R more. I do realize that I am asking a lot of you, so be clear that this is a request - you may turn this down if you choose. You would be permitted to bring people with you, but it would be a dangerous situation and likely unsuitable for Karson and possibly Ivri in her current condition.

I’m not entirely sure what this mission will entail yet, but it is a call from the Earthen Ring to the Maelstrom, where they will be sending you down into Deepholm, the Plane of Earth. This brings me to my second concern. I’m not sure how much you know about the Earthen Ring, but Thrall is one of their members. Yes, that Thrall. You will have to speak with him directly, as well as other orcs, tauren and trolls who are a part of the Earthen Ring organization.

I know you have a history with orcs, but I need you to be able to work amicably with the Earthen Ring. Tensions are high enough as it is, and I need my people to be de-escalators, not escalators. If you think this will be a problem, let me know, and I can ask someone else.

Sincerely,
Captain Jo Sparkwire

Dear Brannagen Stillwall,

I’m assembling a team to respond to a call for aid by the Earthen Ring at the Maelstrom, and I would like to ask you to serve as the team’s healer. I know you have experience with the water from your time in Vashj’ir, but it seems this will be a journey through the Maelstrom into a different element, the earth of Deepholm. I thought you might find the journey interesting, as this will be the first time mortals have journeyed into the Plane of Earth since… well, ever, I think.

I should note that this mission will require you to work alongside many races we don’t often encounter, as members of the Earthen Ring include orcs, tauren and trolls. In addition, this collaboration is organized by former-Warchief Thrall, who you will be consulting with directly. You have always been a rather open-minded person, so I trust this will not be a problem.

I don’t know if the Explorer’s League intends to have a presence down there, but it does seem like a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the deep places of Azeroth. If you’re still having difficulties with the organization, you might use liaising here as a way to offer an olive branch of sorts?

I hope you will join the team. You can also bring friends or colleagues with you, if you like, but it will be a dangerous situation.

Best,
Captain Jo Sparkwire

Dear Auralind Mistwalker,

I am assembling a team to answer an urgent request for aid from the Earthen Ring, which will involve traveling down into the Elemental Plane of Earth, Deepholm. I would like to ask you to join this team, as I feel your experience and your particular qualifications will considerably improve the team’s chance of success. I am honestly not sure how dark it will be Deepholm, and you have very keen senses.

In addition, this mission will involve collaboration with a neutral organization, a collaboration organized by former-Warchief Thrall. I know you worked alongside the orcs at Hyjal years ago, and I ask you to do so again for the common good. I would say you have a very level head, so I would appreciate it if you can help to make sure tensions don’t get out of control.

I do hope you will accept this posting. It is also not secret or closed, so you are permitted to bring friends or family with you, if you desire. Just be aware that it will be dangerous.

Respectfully,
Captain Jo Sparkwire

Dear Cressidha Aspenwood,

I hope your leave time has been proceeding to your liking. I know that you participated in the liberation of Stratholme, and a mission has recently come up that I thought might be well suited to your strengths. If you are seeking a little more time in the field, I am assembling a team to answer a call by the Earthen Ring to the Maelstrom, and through there to Deepholm. If you would prefer not to return to the field at this time, let me know. I am also requesting your brother Colson for this team, if that affects your decision.

I am not certain what the full mission will involve, but it will be working with the Earthen Ring, a neutral organization, on a matter for the common good of Azeroth. Organizing the collaboration is the former-Warchief Thrall, and he will be one of your contacts. In addition, many allies in the Earthen Ring are likely to be trolls, tauren, or orcs. I expect our people to collaborate with them peaceably, regardless of how tensions may rise or fall elsewhere. I stress again that this is not a mission against the Horde and it is not expected to involve any kind of war with them. It is a mission for the greater good, alongside Earthen Ring members who have the same goals at heart.

I believe our team would be well served by the inclusion of a capable mage such as yourself, and I do hope that you will seriously consider joining. It is also neither secret nor closed, and you may bring others to accompany you.

Regards,
Captain Jo Sparkwire

Dear Colson Aspenwood,

I hope you’ve been well since the mission to Hyjal. I know some of that work proved to be rather challenging, and I’ve heard you’ve now moved on to supporting the effort at Stratholme. I have another effort I’d like to ask you to join, a request for aid that has come in from the Earthen Ring.

I am assembling a team to travel through the Maelstrom into Deepholm, and I would like you to join this team as a follower of the Libram of Retribution. Not to say that I believe any retribution is necessary, just that you will hopefully be working alongside Brannagen Stillwall, as you have before in Northrend. I have also sent an invitation to your sister Cressidha, in case this may be a factor in your consideration.

I do not expect this to be a problem, but I should specify that this mission will involve collaboration with the Earthen Ring, which includes members from races who are loyal to both the Alliance and the Horde. Specifically, this collaboration is organized by former-Warchief Thrall, who I expect our team to be cordial with. Whatever happens elsewhere between the Alliance and the Horde, I expect our team to continue working with the Earthen Ring in Deepholm for the safety and protection of Azeroth as a whole.

This mission is neither secret nor closed, and Mordecai or others may accompany you. I do hope you will agree to join.

Cordially,
Captain Jo Sparkwire
