Lord Bertrand,

Greetings and best wishes to you and your lady. Your whole family, really, but I'm writing you on a matter of Cobalt Company business, thus the seal.

I've been nosing around looking for a likely group of people to go investigate some unsettling rumors in Westfall, a place that's of great personal importance to the Ference-Hazan clan. For the most part I'm seeking out people who will have very little stake in human political matters, and given the recent influx of gnome recruits in the wake of Operation Gnomeregan, that hasn't been hard.

But I also want someone who can, at least at a casual glance, pass for local, but someone who isn't actually from there and likely to get swayed by the anti-royal sentiment sweeping through. You fit that bill, and also you come highly recommended to me as a fellow of easygoing and helpful temperament as well as 7th-Legion-Class scouting and tracking abilities.

Also, as I think you know, I'm deeply fond of your brother and sister, Colson and Cressidha. Hug them for me if you see them before I do.

Do you think you could see your way to helping out a team of gnomes who are heading out to Westfall in a week or so? I think you'd be a great sort of front man for the team (though let the warrior guy, Slicket, actually go out front if you stray too far from civilization. You'll know him by his hairdo, which looks like some kind of giant spiky dorsal fin).
