(2024-04-16) A Letter Regarding Southshore Problems

My dearest Ben;

I’ve made it safely home, but other than that, I’m afraid I have little good news to report. The storms that everyone talks about are worsening, and Southshore has had some truly terrifying waves. I suppose if there’s any good news, it’s that the local murloc colony was wiped out, though that’s only good news for the residents of Southshore. You know how I feel about murlocs. Poor little things, with such flimsy homes.

The mountains have started to shake, and no one knows why. This area isn’t volcanic in the least, but that doesn’t seem to have occurred to the mountains. The earthquakes are frightening. I’d always heard that one earthquake is usually followed by minor shaking and then they stop, but these just grow more severe. I’ve told Walton to move the sheep lower down and closer to the orchards. I’m hopeful that this is the worst the shakes will get. I’d hate to have to evacuate the orchards entirely, but of course I won’t hesitate to do that if it seems necessary.

It may be difficult to convince the farmers to go. You know how proud they are of what they’ve accomplished here, and how much they love this land. I admit, the trees are doing marvelously well, full of blossoms. At harvest, I expect we can start bottling small batches of pear brandy. Exciting!
