Lena Shine

This time, the crystal has recorded what appears to be the deck of a ship, Lena leaning against a railing with mountain peaks visible in the sky behind her.

“Today, I'm on the deck of a flying ship, the Skybreaker. Friend of mine, Sintha, was involved in building it. Age of wonders we live in. And that's Icecrown behind me, so age of horrors, too.”

Lena pauses to tuck away a wisp of hair that pulled free from her tie in the wind.

“It's been a hell of a week and then some. I've not had so much time to deal with the personal troubles I mentioned last time, though maybe there’s really just naught to do for the time being. I talked to May, but their case is all sorts of secret. I might not know what happened to Collin for a while. And Rozalin… turns out she near messed things up for me, through a gesture I’m sure was meant in kindness. I need to talk to her - want to, too, it’s been ages - but it’s hard to find enough time to head all the way down to Westfall.”

“Up here, as you might expect, it's been all undead all the time. We've been working with a death knight fellow called Thassarian. He seems a good ally, mostly, but sometimes he says things that give me pause. Such as, what business have we in reverse engineering a Cult of the Damned will-taking potion? We didn't do it, but he…” Lena presses her lips together for a moment. “Let's just say I wouldn't accept anything to eat or drink from the fellow, just in case.”

“In other ways he was real helpful, figuring out how to weaken the Desolation Gate. And my own specialty came in call, as the cult was doing a lot of fel stuff. I was happy to be useful, even if it did draw a bit of attention from my teammates. I think Rae and Ben appreciated it anyway, even if the kaldoreis maybe didn’t.” Lena frowns. “That is not a thing I'd have guessed I’d ever say, given how skittish Rae is of magic. She still doesn't want it on her, I think, but she trusts me.”

“After our mission, during the part of the week that'd normally be more routine, I volunteered to help take Naxxramas. There I did not hold back, but also I think no one wanted me to. There were a lot of people there - friends from Cobalt, the Argent Crusade, and even some folk I didn’t recognize.”

“I scared Cress a bit with my felhunter, and I feel a bit rough about that. It's just my most powerful demon, so it was the one I called. I know she trusts me, but I also know her history with it. A terrifying mage lesson about the power of demons, one that stuck with her. And then later her brother died… Bertrand, not Colson, and they brought him back after but still. Rough day for her all around. I hope all her family’s alright.”

“In any case, we took down a head necromancer and this huge frostwyrm. The frostwyrm froze me in ice once, like a mage. It seemed as harmless as, actually? I'm not sure why it did that, maybe just to reduce our numbers. Like I could do with Syrah, if anyone needed charming. Not that she's charming, she's really rather awful. But she's got magic to charm.”

“There was some dragon business to handle at the end, but I headed back to Wintergarde. I thought they might need folk to help with the clean up, and anyway I’d just as soon not be noticed by a bunch of powerful dragons.”

“The next week’s like to be as busy as this one, since I’ve asked a bit of time to go back to the fleet after our squad mission. There's unfinished business there with the Scarlet Onslaught, and I've told Fallon I'm in for it. I don't know if I ought to mention to Rae. I know she's well-quit of them, but it seems unkind to flaunt the killing of friend's former comrades. Well, I bet Fallon’ll tell her if she needs telling. They seem to have gotten close.”

Lena turns to look at the sharp peaks behind her, and then back at the crystal.

“That’s it for now. I hope sometime soon, I'll be recording the inside of the Icecrown Citadel, with no Lich King left inside.”

Lena reaches forward to turn off the crystal, and the image vanishes.
