“You’re going to lose,” Ralaea said, as Tabiana strapped on her armor and took up her shield.

“Thank you for the vote of confidence, Ralaea,” the older woman replied, her voice tired. “Your opinion is duly noted. But it will not change mine.”

Ralaea growled in frustration. “I mean, you’re going to lose, unless you take me. I’m stronger than I was, I can—”

“I believe you made a promise to your lieutenant, not to go out there?” Tabiana said, securing her pack to her side.

“I promised Ben I wouldn’t go alone. And I won’t. A team of Argents isn’t alone.” Ralaea squared her shoulders. “Your sister was a member of my squad, before. We both have a reason to face her.”

Tabiana straightened and turned to assess Ralaea properly. After a quiet stare down, which was really more of a glare from Ralaea, she sighed. “Do as you like,” she said. “There has been no sign of her so far. We may not find her this time, either.”

“Even so,” Ralaea said. “I’m coming.”
