Ekorenine carefully leaves a package at the Atley’s front door.
A letter attached to the gifts reads:
“To the new parents,
Our apologies for the late gifts, but we had difficulties choosing what would be the best presents to send your way. I usually pick clothes for the baby, but Sandy mentioned many of your friends like to knit and sew, so we considered our options and decided to go for something else.
We hope these will accompany your whole family for a long time, and that Karson hopefully will not grow tired of them too quickly.

Another letter reads:
“Ivri, Dane,
I’m sorry I can’t come visit Karson yet, but I really, really wanted to send a gift for him. So, mom’s going to drop these to your home!
I hope you’ll like them, and I’m looking forward to the next time we see each other!

PS: One of the gifts used to be mine as a baby, so you know, maybe Karson will grow to be a little like me, with that one! In some ways at least… hopefully not in others!”
The box contains a huge, enchanted storybook with little visual illusions of the characters moving along the page as the story is read out loud. The people inside the stories look similar to Dane, Ivri, and other people from Cobalt Company Ekorenine is familiar with.
The other gift is a musical snow globe, with the statue of a red dragon sleeping inside. It looks a little older. The melody is a soft, famous human nursery rhyme.
