Fallon,

Got more information on that possible problem of yours. There was someone else killed that night that Amerith was attacked, name of “Lady Ravendusk.” Not her real name. Alias, definitely. The paper trail suggests someone who was counting more on this Amerith guy’s reputation of a predilection for the unusual than trying to form a long running solid change of identity. That in turn suggests she had a targeted purpose for getting close to Amerith himself. Could be unrelated, because sometimes coincidences happen when the universe gets lazy, but if someone was trying to get a line from someone like Kaela to a nobleman, that kind of honey trap would be a way to do it. The fact that she’s dead now means she might have served her purpose, and the loose end has been tied off. How much Amerith knew, or what “Ravendusk” got him to believe, I don’t know, and can’t get close enough to find out.

I’ve done what I can for Mourn while here in Stormwind. If any of my other leads pan out with information, I’ll pass it along. But in the city, my hands are tied by what I am until this goes to trial.

I’ll be back up in Northrend in the meantime. The Argent Crusade and the Ebon Blade are working on cooperating better, and I’ve been asked personally to help it along. It might be that while I’m there, I could run into a few of Mourn’s old contacts, find more who’d be willing to help him out for a personal reason. There’s also a woman there, a Tabiana Lynds, sister of one of Kaela’s old crew, and Mourn’s old bodyguard or something who could be possibly another target. Someone wanting to fuck with the Ebon Blade working better with the living could be looking to take her out just as the Ebon Blade’s been around, drive another wedge between what could be an alliance of force against the Scourge. My wife and I will handle it so that it doesn’t become a problem.

- Roper of the Ebon Blade

PS – You might want to think about getting a bodyguard for the lawyer. Maybe the sort of bodyguard that can also spot a tail on her, or identify a potential security risk of a spy trying to get close to her. Someone getting leverage on her could send this whole thing down in flames.

[The handwriting gets clearer, as if the writer had slowed down to more properly form the words]

PPS – I know this might still go down badly. And if that’s the case, I want something clear, and in writing. I’m aware that you could have washed your hands of this the moment it got complicated. Stepped away and waited for the chips to fall where they would before you put your reputation on the line. And you didn’t. So, even if you’ve eventually got to wash your hands of it to save your own, I want you to know that I’ll remember what you did, and what you’ve done, to try to make this work. No matter which way this goes, if you find yourself personally in need of the Ebon Blade against the Scourge, you call. We’ll answer. You have my word on that.
