A small box wrapped in dark blue paper is delivered to the Glenarvan townhouse, together with a large flat envelope. Inside the box is a small silver dagger with blue gems inlaid in the hilt. Inside the envelope is flute solo sheet music for the song “Starlight over Everstill”. There is also a brief letter:

Dear Aubrienna,

I wanted to thank you for your hospitality toward my sister and myself, upon our visit to your home. You have a talent for daggers, and I thought of you when I saw this one. Though I am sure you have many, I thought perhaps it might be a nice addition to the collection.

The music is by a promising up-and-coming composer in Redridge. Should you enjoy the song, I would be delighted to accompany you to see the starlight over Lake Everstill. We might check how it measures up.
