Dear Ismene,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am actually writing to you today on behalf of another, Ralaea Westwind, who says she has met you before. I do not know how public she has been with the details of the injury to her arms or the circumstances under which she obtained it, and I shall attempt to summarize as clearly as possible.

There is a woman, Alynnra Mondragon, who - through no fault of her own - was affected by magic (Shadow, or Void, perhaps) that formed a sort of secondary personality in her head, known as the "Watcher". The Watcher comes to the forefront and takes charge whenever Alynnra's happiness or 'innocence' is at risk - whenever she receives bad news, for example - to try and protect her from harm. This magic was placed upon her by a woman named Almeiria Fey, and the Watcher's personality resembles Almeiria in some regards. This personality, the Watcher, is very rude and dismissive of others, but seems to be serious about her ultimate priority, which is ensuring that Alynnra can live a safe and happy life.

Alynnra Mondragon's sister, Kaela Mondragon, is a Death Knight in service to the Scourge, but before she died, she commanded a unit in the Scarlet Crusade. Ralaea was part of that unit. When Kaela fell in battle, Ralaea went to Alynnra to tell her about her sister's death. Apparently, the Watcher took control of Alynnra's body and attacked Ralaea, injuring her wrists with a blade that was coated in something.

Ralaea did not receive immediate treatment, and whatever sort of poison or other alchemical mixture it was has been slowly spreading throughout her body and is not responsive to the usual methods of cleansing and abolishing poison. She has been using holy water to slow and temporarily halt the spread of the affliction, but it has by now reached her shoulders and the backs of her hands.

If you recall that business with Alysson vanishing, Kaela Mondragon was involved in that. Kaela seems to wish to 'reunite' her former squad - in death - but for some reason she wishes for Ralaea's arms to be cured, and so she sent the Watcher to Westguard Keep. After a somewhat tense stand-off, I was able to negotiate with the Watcher, who has offered to cure Ralaea's arms and has been waiting in the inn in Westguard Keep ever since.

The difficulty, of course, is that Ralaea does not trust the Watcher (who she refers to as "the abomination") and is afraid that this is all some sort of elaborate trap.

I understand her suspicions and concerns entirely, and I would greatly appreciate it if you would be able to be present to accompany Ralaea and I to meet the Watcher and ensure that whatever cure she presents is legitimate. I know that you and Estel (who I am writing to as well) have been studying under Niris for some time and I believe your alchemical knowledge may be critical in this situation, either (in the best case) to assuage Ralaea's fears or (in the worst case) to prevent something terrible from being administered to Ralaea in the guise of a "cure". I would deeply appreciate your support, and I believe you have the skill for this.

Ralaea says that the more who are present the better, and if you should like to bring Ben with you, I think that would be an excellent idea. If you do not have the time, I do understand - I know you have more on your plate than most. Regardless, I hope you are well and I might be able to see you soon.

Love,
Mordecai
