Sintha Fallon

Lady Ailine Westry -

I do apologize for canceling my spring visit so precipitously, Grandmama, but there were matters of import to be seen to here.

As I suppose you must be aware, the Alliance has gone to war in Northrend, in pursuit of the Menethil Prince and his Scourge legions. It is my assumption, at least, that you are aware, and that the Lord Admiral is aware, and that the islands in general are aware. I do realize that the Scourge has never yet been a Tirasian problem, but I trust the Lord Admiral is further aware that it has no intention of holding at the borders of Lordaeron, or in Northrend alone, and that its tendrils have already found root in Kalimdor.

Do forgive the lecture, I pray you; it’s only a rather sensitive subject as Siamus — your grandson, I expect you recall, the eldest one? — is currently embroiled in that war. (Perhaps you knew that already, too, as not long ago he did have to write to Lady Sparce regarding the loss of her son Kellan with all hands aboard the Nimble.) You might spare some prayers if you’re feeling tenderly disposed.

On the same subject — Siamus, that is, not your tender disposition or lack thereof toward him — I thought you might like to know that he’s betrothed again. I expect that by the time you receive this letter he’ll be wed. It’s genuinely a stunning match; do please tell Lord Westry that whatever shame it may have been that his grandson failed to secure for the family the heiress to a Drustvar mining concern, he did secure a Duchess of Lordaeron in her stead. Alas, not for Westry, of course: for Fallon of Stormwind alone. Condolences on the shortsightedness.

I do hope your summer is absolutely a delight. I miss you and His Lordship awfully.

Kisses,
Your granddaughter (the eldest one),
Sintha

Lady Saoirse Westry Norfolk -

I know, Mama, I’ve been broken to pieces about it myself, but there’s nothing I could do; things here are at such a precipice. I’ve been out of my mind over Shay up there in the north — but I hope you’ll be glad to know that I’ve dragged him from it for a time.

I confess I dragged him from it to throw him to the lions of Stormwind politics, but better the lions than the Scourge. Anyway he’s made a remarkable go of it and I believe that your son will soon sit in the Stormwind House of Nobles — with a Duchess at his right hand for a wife, no less! He’s marrying the Duchess Esprit; House Esprit is a terribly old house of Lordaeron, and the political advantage is incredible. Not to mention the woman herself could sail absolute circles around half of House Ashvane when it comes to figures and finance. (Absolutely do not tell Aunt Silly I said so.)

And yes, I do rather think he’ll be happy. (But do not tell him I said so.)

The wedding is to be next month — June, that is — so by the time you receive this it may be dealt and done. I am sorry you won’t be with us see it. I promise that Shay is sorry too.

Give my regards to Lord Norfolk and the children.

All my love,
Your Sintha

Aunt Silly -

I do believe it’s done; so long as the wind doesn’t shift, we shall have a Duchess for Fallon and a seat on the House of Nobles. You’re welcome, and you’re welcome to congratulate me also, but do also kindly remember what you promised.

I did write to Mama to tell her, and I’m afraid I may have written to Grandmama exclusively to be ghastly at her.

Love and kisses,
Ta Mairead

T, dearest -

I’m so sorry. I wanted to come, you know how I did, and you know I’d never stay away if it wasn’t something of the utmost importance, don’t you darling? It’s only been some troubles with silly old Siamus, but I’ve got him sorted out now. He asked me the other day, you know, about the paper zeppelin kit he’d sent you; I told him you’d gotten it and loved it, but perhaps you ought to write him your own little thanks for it? It’s nice manners, darling, and it would be awfully sweet, he’d be so pleased. Please do not tell him you are too old for such things. He doesn’t believe that I am, so hearing it from you would only confuse him terribly.

Do you know what else would please him? If you wrote him a little note to congratulate him for his wedding! That’s right, he’s getting married. To a lovely golden-haired Duchess, just like from a story. Perhaps the next time I come, I’ll bring him with me, what would you think? I expect you’d hardly recognize him, he’s practically the age your papa was when you went away!

Your papa is also doing very well, but he can tell you that himself, as you’ll have his own letter with this one to read. There is a bit of a war on right now, but with men like your papa and Siamus fighting in it I expect it will be over and done any day now. They are both very great heroes, you know, but your papa is especially. Do not tell Siamus I said so.

So many hugs!
Ta
