The original letter

[Text of the full letter, transcribed:]

My Dear Countess -

Dragons are your news. A pact with them, specifically; the dragonflights – minus, naturally, the blue – have found union with one another, and after initial approach by certain members of the Alliance who have already demonstrated decisive action against the blue dragonflight, further negotiation by the Kirin Tor has resulted in an accord with none other than the Life-binder Alexstrasza.

As a consequence of the actions of the same above-mentioned Alliance members, and with the new assistance of the dragons, I am given to understand the problem of the ley lines is on the precipice of resolution, and it is likely that the portals of Dalaran – indeed, of Northrend – will in short order be fully functional and accessible, such that the full flow of arcane travel is available to us.

I do fear there is a further element to the news that may give pause to your lady mother, however. The Alliance members who facilitated all of the above were none other than a squad of Ference’s Cobalt Company.

It is obviously my own inclination as a man of the Alliance that any victory in the service of our people is worthy of celebration – particularly a victory of this magnitude, which will surely facilitate the flow of personnel and necessary supplies and bolster our entire war effort. You understand, naturally, that I would never imply that your excellent lady mother might view the matter any differently, as of course Lady Evelaine is herself a staunch patriot with a shrewd eye toward the greater good, but I am aware that sentiment regarding Lord Ference is complicated in many quarters at present.

If celebration of the dragon-pact is for whatever reason unpalatable, a simple focus on the likely imminent restoration of portals – connection with loved ones in the north, access to the mage city of marvels – may serve as your distraction instead. Direct the public eye from the schemes of warlocks toward the spectacle of magecraft. Surely somewhere between dragons and wizardry, the good people of Stormwind will find uplifting diversion.

Should this news not serve to quell the public furor, I will endeavor to bring you other and more particular; you need only ask.

As ever,
Your obdt. servant,
Cdre. Siamus Fallon
