The gully that runs north of this place across the back of the Keep is strictly off-limit to any Cobalt personnel and frankly to any one.

As you may have heard White Squad was dispatched into the gulch in search of a mining crew from the Explorers Legue that went missing. What we have discovered down there is the whole crew of Explorers gone killing mad. We could not rescue a one of them.

I have told Captain Adams in pretty certain terms that no one ought to be near the place and if any of you spots anyone from the Keep coming or going that way I would appreciate you let me know first thing. I am not sure they appreciate the hazard but I want to make sure every one of you do and I do not want to be dealing with anyone bringing what ever is down there up here. That ore is not to be touched and that gulch is not to be gone down to.

It is never my aim to alarm you but I recommend some alarm in this case will do you good. There is something down in the earth there that is putting voices in people’s heads and getting in their skins enough to drive them over a brink and if White Squad had stayed down there I do not doubt it would have done for us the same way.
