I know you said you were willing to take on odd jobs, and this is definitely an odd one. There's a certain Explorers' League outpost east of Nifflevar that I'm havin a hell of a time gettin to between giants and other projects.
They've set up at the top of the seaside cliffs in the southeast of the peninsula. There's a sturdy bridge south of Valgarde and another road that approaches from the north if you can get atop the cliffs, but if you havena ticked off McGoyver yet like I have, the most direct shot and easiest way to get out of the bay is via his flyin machine. Avoids all the vrykul that might find you on both land routes, ask me how I know about that.
I need you to tell me if my cousin Walt is still alive and kicking out there. He's not been quite himself since the Third War and I'd like some reassurance that he's nae done anything rash, like flipping his last switch and cannibalizing the whole team or… I dinna ken. A report on anything that team's found at the nearby dig site would also be good, but mostly just let me know if Walt's still among the living and more or less of sound mind.

PPS Maybe dinna mention I'm worried about Walt doing something drastic. He's probably fine, since he has stuff to work on. But this place can be enough to drive even the most level headed dwarf round the bend and poor Walt was halfway round it to start with.
