Silvestre Taeavon

Silvestre wanders up into the Silver Enclave library, looking appreciatively at the painting of the Grizzlemaw before heading over to look at one of the bookcases.

Taeavon is sitting down in a chair there poring over a notebook. He jots a few things down and looks intently at it, mumbling to himself a little.

Silvestre selects a book and wanders over to sit at the table, then pauses before he sits down, seeing the current occupant. "Hey, sorry, I don't want to bother you."

[Taeavon]: Oh, it's no problem, go ahead. *he looks up and notes the tabard and does a bit of a double take*

Silvestre settles down into a chair and sets the book on the table in front of him, flipping it open more or less at random.

[Taeavon]: Oh uh, hey. I like the colors. *Tae points to Sil's chest*

[Silvestre]: The.. oh, yeah? *A quick smile lights up Sil's face* That's the company I belong to. Cobalt. You might've seen 'em around?

Taeavon chuckles a bit, "Yeah, I've kept up with the stories. I remember back when they were just a theatre company."

[Silvestre]: Oh really? I guess you're… uh, no offense, just ages are a little hard to judge between your folk and mine. *Sil gives a little chuckle.** I was pretty little back when the Cobalt Players were a thing, and not in Lordaeron. You're… Silver Covenant?

[Taeavon]: Yeah. I joined up soon after they formed, but I was a ranger for the Kirin Tor before that. I, uh, actually applied to join Cobalt Company recently. Been going over what I'm gonna say at my interview. *he chuckles nervously*

[Silvestre]: Whoa. So we might be working together soon. *Sil's smile widens.* Happy I ran into you here, then. I don't think you need to be too nervous, they're all real friendly. What are you thinking you'll say?

[Taeavon]: Yeah! I hope so! *he smiles back* And I was just trying to go over my record I guess, all the training and experience I have and stuff.

[Silvestre]: Being a ranger for the Kirin Tor and a Silver Covenant… ranger? I mean, for sure that'll help, but when I signed up I had pretty much no experience. They like to give people chances, if they see potential. You know anybody in the company?

[Taeavon]: Oh uh. I think I know one or two maybe.

[Silvestre]: That'll help, too. If you've got people who can vouch for you. Me, I joined pretty early on. I didn't really have any combat experience to speak of. But now… now I do. *Sil's smile slips for a moment, then he continues* Who all do you know?

[Silvestre]: Maybe I know 'em too.

[Taeavon]: It was, uh, Velrin Silverbloom. *he's nervous but he covers it well* My company is partnered with the Sentinels, so I've met quite a few night elves.

[Silvestre]: Velrin, yeah, we worked together some in Shadowmoon Valley, back in the day. Not too closely, but I think they did a lot there, with the Ashtongue and all. Her team, I mean.

[Taeavon]: Oh yeah? *his ears perk up*

Silvestre nods. "Real professional, Velrin. I guess she went off on another mission afterward, I didn't see her much after till we came up to Northrend - same boat."

[Taeavon]: Yeah, I was pretty impressed with her. *he smiles without thinking* She's a bit… intense, I guess is a good word for it, but I appreciated it.

[Silvestre]: Yeah, I think that's what I meant by professional. *Sil considers* Very focused, serious.

[Silvestre]: Anyway, we've got a lot of kaldorei in the company, but not any quel'dorei yet. I hope that wouldn't put you off? I mean, I never really got to meet many quel'dorei till recent, with the Covenant. I knew a lot of sin'dorei, but… *Sil flinches* Sorry, I know a bit about your people, but I don't want to make you feel… I mean, I don't want to insult you accidentally, talking about politics.

[Taeavon]: I mean… there really aren't many of us one way or the other. *he sighs* I really wish things didn’t have to be the way they are now with the whole sin'dorei-quel'dorei thing…

[Silvestre]: Some of our officers are really against the sin'dorei, even though we were allies back in Shattrath. I think they like quel'dorei pretty well, though.

[Taeavon]: Really? *he says a bit surprised* I mean I can't say I was happy when I heard Silvermoon joined the Horde, but can you really blame them?

[Silvestre]: It's all kind of… hazy for me? Like, most of my friends were with the Scryers. And now I guess they're with Silvermoon? Or the Kirin Tor. Or both. But they're still them, you know? I don't turn my back on a friend.

[Taeavon]: Yeah. I get what you mean. I never went to Outland so I'm not sure about the Scryers and all that, but I do remember when the Alliance arrested like the whole army and brought them here. *he shivers* I don't think I've ever seen my mother that angry before…

[Silvestre]: Oh, yeah, I heard about that. Aze was there. She's still like… she won't come to Dalaran because it's not 'safe', she says. I told her nobody's gonna try to kill her.

[Silvestre]: Your mom was there? Or just when she heard about it?

[Taeavon]: Yeah… My captain was there too. He managed to escape, though, and ended up defecting when he saw the kinds of things Kael'thas was planning to get into.

[Taeavon]: Oh, no. My mother is an archmage. She's the head evocationist in the research department at the Violet Citadel.

[Silvestre]: Oh, wow. What do evocationists do?

[Taeavon]: It's like energy spells. Most fire magic and lots of arcane magic fall under that category. Lots of people will focus on specific effects like ice or fire, but the theory doesn't always line up perfectly. *he gets a glimmer in his eye as he explains*

[Silvestre]: Oh, so she's like an evocation theorist?

[Taeavon]: Sort of. She works mostly in the nitty gritty of it all, trying to refine spells, make new ones, things like that. You should see her sometime. I've never seen anyone pull off some of the things she can do.

[Silvestre]: That's sounds really interesting, maybe dangerous? I'm not an expert on magic myself, but… Captain Sparkwire's a fire mage, and we've got Gwenivene, an expert on telemancy.

[Taeavon]: Hey, maybe they'd enjoy talking to her sometime. And I'm not the biggest expert either. *he chuckles* Been a long time since I was studying magic real seriously. Been sticking mostly to zoology and archery and all that, ya know?

Silvestre nods. "That's more my area, too. I'm really good at knife-throwing and dagger-work, but I did start working on my archery in Outland. And animals… I've been doing little sketches of the wildlife, since I started traveling around more." Silvestre grins at Tae. "I'm not really a zoologist, but I like watching 'em. Each place I've been to has all sorts of different types, even if some of 'em in Outland were sort of nightmare fuel."

Taeavon laughs, "I bet. Outland sounds like it's been through a lot. I've just got my hands full trying to explore Azeroth right now, though. It's been nice being able to do some research here in my spare time. It's like a whole uncharted continent almost." the excitement in his voice is palpable.

[Silvestre]: I guess there's not been a lot of hunting up here for a while? 'Cause a lot of the animals will come right up near you. The shoveltusks - they're so wild-looking, aren't they? And some of 'em attack, but others are real friendly.

[Taeavon]: That's just how deer are. Bucks get real territorial during the rut, and shoveltusks are no exception. *he smirks* Almost got the drop on me a couple times while I was out trying to study them and take notes.

[Silvestre]: That's where the archery and the daggers would come in handy, I guess. *Sil grins* Latest I've done is sketching eagles out in Grizzly Hills. Fearless little hunters, those.

[Taeavon]: Yeah. I hope I get the chance to spend more time out that way soon.

[Silvestre]: You should, it's pretty out there. Just be careful of the worgen. And the vrykul in the south. And, uh, maybe death knights and stuff. But I guess that's all Northrend, isn't it?

[Taeavon]: Yeah, just a bit. *he laughs* It's a dangerous place up here. I'll be glad to see the Scourge gone.

[Silvestre]: Yeah, I think everybody will. *Sil sobers a little* I know your people lost more than most, like the folks in Lordaeron. But… I lost a brother to the plague last fall. Way the Lich King goes, seems like everybody's/ lost someone.

[Taeavon]: Yeah… It's been a rough couple decades. I got spared the worst of it being from Dalaran and all, but even with us, the whole city was leveled during the Third War.
Silvestre nods sadly. "Lot of folk in Cobalt from places that fell. Not everyone, but… maybe that's one reason they were all in for coming up here to fight. That and, you know, if the Scourge wins we all die."

[Taeavon]: That does put a bit of pressure on everything.

[Silvestre]: Well, I think we'll win. We've got to, really. *Sil smiles a little nervously.* But hey, you were talking about joining Cobalt. Maybe one thing to keep in mind is why Cobalt in particular? 'Cause there's other companies out there. I do hope you join up, though. Company's real big on having people of different cultures, so you've got that going for you.

Taeavon takes a moment to collect his thoughts, "Well I guess I just have always seen them as like a big inspiration. It's not about the fame or the money, it's about lending a helping hand to people who need it. They're actually out there trying to be heroes instead of just talking a big game and collecting the check for it all."

[Taeavon]: I mean it was all started by a paladin, right? Elohad Ferrence. I feel like people like him with their heart in the right place are what Azeroth really needs right now.

Silvestre 's smile becomes a little more genuine. "Yeah, he was the founder. Hell of a guy, fought in all those wars. And that's how I feel, most of the time. That's why it's all worth it in the end, isn't it? Helping people."

Taeavon nods, "My parents were really against me going off to fight in the Second and Third Wars. Seeing how many people lost loved ones to it I can't really blame them." he frowns, "Ended up getting roped up into the Third War by the end just because we didn't have any choice but to keep the refugees from the city safe until they got the bubble up. Then while they were busy rebuilding I did what I could in Lordaeron."

[Silvestre]: I bet you did a lot of good. *Sil nods* Like I said, different ages. I was like a teenager in the Third War, real little in the Second. So I wasn't a veteran until, well… I fought at the Battle at Light's Hope. And now, here in Northrend. Wrathgate.

Taeavon shakes his head, "And to think I'm young for an elf. I can't imagine what it would feel like to have grown up through nothing but all this."

[Silvestre]: I guess things were more peaceful in Azeroth before the Dark Portal opened the first time, but… *Sil shrugs* …that was before I was born.

[Taeavon]: Yeah… There were still things going on. People still worried about the trolls attacking and stuff like that. And of course there were still bandits. Heh, feels like there are hardly even any of those left anymore. Things are too rough for them to get anything done I guess.

Silvestre chuckles. "Maybe that's for the best. Still got pirates, though - I've heard tell of those lately."

Taeavon laughs with him, "I'm not sure the wilderness being so full of monsters and undead that criminals are too afraid to do anything is really a good thing. I get what you mean though. I'm glad to see people all working together."

[Silvestre]: Yeah, that I hope can continue, even given all the… stuff lately between the Horde and the Alliance. The Argent Crusade's got the right idea, I think. All of us working together.

[Taeavon]: Agreed. We've all been through enough as it is. I don't wanna go fighting the orcs if I don't have to. We've been doing ok working together so far I think. We just have to keep it up and hope the bad blood doesn't ruin everything.

Silvestre nods. "Try to mend bridges, even if other people keep trying to break 'em. I think that's the right way to go. And I know a lot of people older than me have real strong feelings about orcs, like we do about the Scourge. I get that. But I hope we can still work together.

[Taeavon]: I do too. *Tae closes his notebook* Hey, it's been nice talking to you, but I should really get going. I have a report to write up still.

[Silvestre]: Alright. See you around, I hope? Maybe we can study some wildlife together sometime.

Taeavon stands up and smiles wide at the invitation, "You can count me in. See you soon I hope."

Silvestre waves farewell, and turns cheerfully back to his book.
