Leghan,

She’s a mage, hm? Working with the Kirin Tor? Okay. I don’t really like the Kirin Tor, and they don’t like us either. They never liked me, even before I was a warlock, actually. Pompous fucks.

Yes, I’m very happy that I’ve probably been of some help, even though I couldn’t be there for you! I’m glad you still were able to find the right path for you, all thanks to me! We can’t afford to not have a brilliant powerful warlock like you.

Hmm, I might consider working with other warlocks, then, although I’m not really looking forward to it. I don’t want others to tell me what to do. Especially if “what to do” is “what not to do”. But if they’re willing to teach me some new spells and make me stronger, that can’t be so bad!

Thank you, I do believe what I’ve been able to do is impressive. But that didn’t come naturally to me, I had to work hard. We’re not all as lucky as you are!

Oh, poor little you. I really hope the situation with that Carden resolves quickly.
I’m so sorry someone’s being mean to you like that. I think telling someone “Oh shut up” is so rude! Especially if you say it often! Plus, messing with someone else’s rituals sounds very dangerous. He could have gotten you killed, I’m not sure you would have wanted to. I wish I could have a word with this man… But, I can’t go to Ratchet right now, unfortunately, sorry! But I’m here now, and he will not bother you again. Over my dead body!

If you say so. Maybe I’m wrong about your friend. But I still believe he’s not very good at what he does if you ask me.

Oh, a fire mage? Oh, that’s a good lie! That’s the perfect lie! Of course! You can still show that you’re a hero saving the world or whatever, but you’re not doing this with the Fel, you’re doing this with fire magic! You’re so smart! So good at this! I never thought of that. It’s incredible. Keep up that lie, it’s perfect! You’ll go very far in life, my sweet Leghan! Congratulations! You’re brilliant!

… Oh. The… incident with the Felguard. You know… something about that?

What happened was… Our village was attacked by the orcs. It was around the second war, you know? And they threw a Felguard our way while your dad was away. I witnessed… what it did to everyone we knew. I hid with you. I wasn’t really strong as a warlock yet! There was nothing I could do against a Felguard! But what I did was more than enough, as we both survived that attack.

But then… your father showed up. He saw what happened. Everyone we knew, everyone we loved…

And he accused me. The orcs were long gone. They didn’t care about our village, it was just a pebble in their way. That’s why they sent the Felguard, they didn’t care about what happened to us. They just wanted to know that this demon would take down at least a few, weak, terrified humans.

So, he saw the demon’s body, and he saw me, who was studying the Fel and demonology. He wouldn’t listen to reason. He blamed me! He wanted to lock me up for that! But I was innocent! I had no other choice, I had to run away. It broke my heart, but I had to leave you there. I ran as far as I could, and I hid for years, afraid that I would be punished for a crime I didn’t commit. All because my husband decided I was not trustworthy.

So you see, if he’d just listened to me, the three of us would have been the happy little family we were meant to be. And that’s why I’m telling you, don’t tell him you’re a warlock! He hates what we do.

I’m sorry, I’m feeling really emotional writing this. I should stop writing now. I hope your bad luck ends soon.
