Ben Hazan Cambrin Silvestre

Ben walks into Bruuk's Corner.
[Bennarin]: Hey, Bruuk. Been a while.
Bennarin waves at Bruuk Barleybeard.
Coming up the stairs, he sees Sil at their usual table.
[Bennarin]: … oh, hey.
Silvestre stands up as he hears Ben coming up the stairs. He smiles. "Just like old times, huh?"
[Bennarin]: Should've guessed you'd be right back here like usual.
Bennarin grins back at him.
Silvestre sits back down and takes a gulp of his beer. "I kept it up, while you were out there. Lot of interesting people come through."
[Bennarin]: Oh yeah? Like who?
Bennarin signals to Edris with a wink. She dimples back at him and hurries to get more beer.
[Silvestre]: Your aunt came by to chew me out, just after. Then there was Halliday, she was a real regular. I probably should send her a note.
[Silvestre]: And um… this weird lady who claimed she had frosty blood.
[Bennarin]: Oh, Halliday's the girl you - wait what?
[Silvestre]: Yeah, she came down from frostland to steal all the books from the library. She was a trip.
Bennarin blinks.
[Silvestre]: She was cold though. *Sil sets a hand on the table, as if remembering* Freezing cold to the touch. I don't know if it was a trick or what.
[Bennarin]: … where's frostland? Wait, you touched her? This … like another elf situation or what?
Sil laughs.
[Silvestre]: No, she didn't want me. Just all the books. On account of she wanted to know what happened in the past twenty years.
[Silvestre]: And, you know, Cam and Taelei come by sometimes. I feel like I ought to call her Tae.
[Bennarin]: I mean. She need every book in the library for that? Most of — hah! Tae an' Rae, like?
[Bennarin]: How's Cam doin'? Been a while since I saw him.
Edris appears to set a beer by Ben's elbow, and a bowl of pretzels between Ben and Sil. She beams at both men and then returns to her post by the stairs.
[Silvestre]: He's doin' pretty good. We went down to Blackrock together. He's a hell of a fighter, but I reckon you know that.
Bennarin nods firmly.
Silvestre beams back at Edris and pops a pretzel in his mouth.
[Bennarin]: Yeah, he was a good one in militia. Real glad he come up to join us.
[Silvestre]: Tae and Rae… think they'd get on well?
[Bennarin]: I do not.
You laugh.
[Bennarin]: Not on account of Tae, I mean. But Rae's still prickly about mages, and I got no idea what she thinks about draenei.
[Silvestre]: I think they'd both be confused on the other.
Bennarin makes a rueful face and drinks some beer.
[Bennarin]: Fair.
[Silvestre]: How's she doin'? She made friends with Mizzy yet?
[Bennarin]: She has not. I was tryin' to make it happen but she just gets weirder an' weirder about it so I'm gonna stop pressin'. Mizzy's willin', of course, but if Rae ain't then it can't be helped I guess.
[Silvestre]: I dunno who'd not want to be friends with Mizzy. She'd be friends with a centaur if they'd stop fightin' long enough.
[Silvestre]: Anyway, now we got portals I will not back out of the whole Blackrock Mountain thing with Cam and Halliday and the others.
[Silvestre]: And I can help out in Hellfire and wherever!
[Bennarin]: Well, good. Glad to hear.
[Bennarin]: Reckon while I am back here I am gonna head down to Westfall an' get a chicken.
[Silvestre]: Oh yeah? Gonna raise Hellfire chickens?
[Bennarin]: I dunno if we want chickens goin' feral out there, considerin' the state of the boars already. But just one decent little hen, you know. Real eggs an' all.
[Silvestre]: One hen gonna make enough eggs? Seems like it'd be hard to keep up.
[Bennarin]: Well, I mean, she ain't gonna feed the Alliance.
[Bennarin]: But okay, maybe I bring two.
[Silvestre]: An egg for you and an egg for Mizzy each day. *Sil grins*
Bennarin nods solemnly, a gleam in his eyes. "If we got extras, the Alliance can have 'em," he offers magnanimously.
[Bennarin]: Might turn 'em over to Mordecai for his bakin'.
[Silvestre]: Mordewho?
Cambrin Cooper walks up the stairs.
[Silvestre]: Cam, hi!
Cambrin sits down carefully.
[Silvestre]: I may have disappeared for a while, but I am here now!
[Bennarin]: … oh, hey. Your ears burnin'? We was just talkin' about you.
[Cambrin]: Hil Sil.
[Silvestre]: I just, um, do that sometimes.
[Cambrin]: Oh?
Bennarin gestures at Edris to bring another beer.
[Silvestre]: You didn't notice? In that case, I've been here all along, waiting for the call to Blackrock.
Cambrin lets out a hearty chuckle.
Bennarin snorts at Sil.
[Bennarin]: Sil was sayin' you was workin' on the Blackrock sh— stuff with him.
Cambrin nods.
[Bennarin]: And talkin' about what a great fighter you are.
[Silvestre]: Yeah, all good stuff, don't worry.
Bennarin salutes Cam with his beer, just as Edris comes to set one down by Cam.
[Cambrin]: Yeah, we went in to look for that dwarven princess. Haven't found her yet but we've got some leads.
Bennarin nods gravely.
[Cambrin]: Means another trip down into the mountain though.
[Bennarin]: S' what I heard. I been in there … one time. It is not my favorite place, but I mean, when do we get sent to any of my favorite places?
[Cambrin]: What's your favorite places, then? Besides Westfall, of course.
[Silvestre]: I don't think that counts as -favorite- *Sil says quietly*
Bennarin shakes his head wordlessly and drinks. When he sets his beer down again he says, "Un'goro Crater, maybe? Hell of a place."
[Bennarin]: Also liked Stranglethorn pretty well.
[Silvestre]: Oh yeah! The raptors and the devilsaurs.
[Bennarin]: I mean, neither's a great place to run around in a lot of plate, but. Interestin' as hell.
[Cambrin]: You have a thing for lizards, then?
Cambrin nods.
[Silvestre]: What about Duskwood? Not the place exactly, but… that spot in the center. Remember when Mizz brought us to show us the dragon? That's a special place.
[Cambrin]: Spent time in both of those, yeah.
Silvestre nods at Cam. "You like lizards? And dragons?"
[Bennarin]: Oh, Duskwood, yeah. I mean — not most of it. But we spent some time with Mizz there, in the day. And Darkshire is properly — I mean, that's Ference land, so.
Cambrin shakes his head. "No, not when they're trying to eat me, or roast me like a peanut."
[Silvestre]: They're still cool, though.
[Bennarin]: Yeah, c'mon, dragons are interestin' as hell. Oh, you missed the book club thing. Sil, we gotta lend Cam that book.
[Silvestre]: Yeah, we gotta. *Sil makes a surprised face* The book club! All this stuff happened I forgot all about it.
[Silvestre]: Reckon we ought to start that up in Shattrath sometime?
Silvestre says, in an aside to Cam, "That's the big city in the other world. We can go to other worlds now."
Cambrin nods
[Cambrin]: I've actually been through and checked in at Honor Hold.
[Silvestre]: Oh yeah? That's awesome. Me too.
[Silvestre]: I bet they got books over there we don't got here, too.
Bennarin whistles.
[Bennarin]: Oh, sh*t, I bet they got a ton of 'em.
[Bennarin]: Yeah, we ought to get that up again.
[Silvestre]: Cam, would you be interested in a book club if it involved controlled explosions and clockwork demonstrations?
[Silvestre]: Jo made me promise to describe it as 'controlled' explosions.
[Bennarin]: Cam, you will be interested in this book club no matter how you feel about books, it is a hell of a book club.
[Cambrin]: A book club?
[Bennarin]: Yeah.
[Bennarin]: Sil runs it and it's amazen.
[Cambrin]: And I like books. Matrons made sure of that.
[Silvestre]: Way back when, we had one on Blackrock with a volcano and little clockwork dwarves. And then there was the one with the mechanical dragon.
[Bennarin]: That reminds me though I ought to hit our place an' pick up my dictionary an' my notebook, while I'm here.
[Bennarin]: Yeah, Cap'n Jo makes models for 'em?
[Bennarin]: We do like history an' stuff.
Cambrin whistles.
Silvestre nods. "I can't take credit on that."
[Cambrin]: That's pretty neat.
[Silvestre]: Yeah, um, Ben, I shoulda said. I may have let Tae stay in your place once. She needed a place to set for the night. It's all clean, though.
Cambrin chuckles.
[Cambrin]: I'd forgotten about you two having a slumber party.
[Silvestre]: Just, you know, if she accidentally left a draenei hairpin or somethin'.
[Bennarin]: … oh you did, huh?
Silvestre grins at Cam. "I even let her braid my hair."
[Cambrin]: Taelei was really interested in experiencing a human ritual.
Bennarin raises a Significant Eyebrow at Sil and eyes him up and down.
[Bennarin]: An' she stayed in my place, you are sure?
[Silvestre]: Oh, yeah. I was a gentleman. And I think it was more of a study thing, for her.
[Bennarin]: Uh, well, I hope she did not study my room too close. I got personals in there.
[Bennarin]: But hair-braidin', huh?
[Silvestre]: Yeah. I guess she had some ideas on what humans did in sleepovers.
Bennarin waggles his brows and has a sip of beer.
[Bennarin]: I got some ideas, too. But you are claimin' otherwise.
[Silvestre]: That is a different type of sleepover. And I ain't sayin' I had none of those. But they wouldn't've stayed in your bed.
[Cambrin]: The girls in the orphanage would have parties like that sometimes. They'd sneak off and set up in one of the store rooms and have a night of it. Used to have me keep watch for the matrons.
Bennarin looks between the pair of them.
[Silvestre]: Really? What all'd they do? Seances and make-up?
Bennarin looks between them slightly more incredulously.
Cambrin shrugs. "I dunno. I wasn't invited."
[Cambrin]: It was a "No Boys" thing.
[Bennarin]: … they made you keep watch and you got nothin' out of it?
[Silvestre]: Yeah, that seems a mite unfair, wouldn't you say?
Cambrin blushes faintly.
[Bennarin]: If you are employed as a watchman then there is at least one boy involved, so.
[Cambrin]: Well… they were my friends, right? And kind of like my sisters? Sorta?
[Bennarin]: Huh. Okay.
[Cambrin]: Doing something would have seemed… weird.
Bennarin nods thoughtfully.
[Cambrin]: I mean, there were those who did. But when you break up with someone you live down the hall from?
Cambrin whistles.
[Silvestre]: Okay, I get that. But then they ought to have let you join the whatever they were doing. As a friend, at least.
[Cambrin]: No fun for anyone.
[Bennarin]: Yeah, damn.
[Cambrin]: Well. I did get paid in cookies. So there's that.
[Bennarin]: Oh, well, you didn't say about the cookies before. That's okay, then.
[Cambrin]: Besides, I liked that they trusted me.
Silvestre considers. "Cookies are a good payment, then."
Bennarin assesses Cam and nods approval. "Yeah, okay."
[Bennarin]: Like when me an' Mizzy both was livin' in HQ.
[Silvestre]: Yeah, would've been awkward if you all started in back then.
Bennarin nods.
[Cambrin]: Speaking of Mizzy, am I right that congratulations are in order?
Bennarin ducks his head a little and smiles. "Yeah, that's right."
[Silvestre]: You told folks now? Like, you know, Aunt Nir and Mr. Ference?
Cambrin raises his beer. "Well here's to the happy couple!"
[Bennarin]: Missus Mizzy Hazan is kind've a mouthful of z. And, uh, no, I have not. But I will. I will.
Cambrin raises an eyebrow.
Bennarin raises his beer in return and smiles again at Cam. "Thanks, Cam."
[Silvestre]: Better soon, if news is spreadin'.
[Bennarin]: Yeah, I better.
Silvestre smiles at Ben. "But it is nice to get to call her your wife now. Mrs. Hazan. And not worry who hears."
[Bennarin]: I just — I wasn't sure about not tellin' 'em in the first place, it felt weird, and then the longer we didn't the weirder it gets, you know?
Cambrin nods sagely.
[Bennarin]: Reckon Mr Ference is gonna be pretty disappointed.
[Silvestre]: Reckon they'll be happy too, right? They like her an' all.
[Cambrin]: Why would they be disappointed?
[Bennarin]: They do like her. And she's - I mean, I sorted all out with Mr Ference before I went to Mizzy all formal, back when we was - still bein' formal. Because she's a good match on paper, even, for Ference. I mean, if we're thinkin' that way. But - uh.
Bennarin looks to Cam.
[Bennarin]: Because I'm noble … ish? And Mizzy's family is money, and they want to marry noble, but they are real proper as hell about it. They been angling at someone with a Stormwind title pretty much since before Mizz was born.
[Bennarin]: So we was supposed to go at it proper, and Mr Ference was gonna approach her dad and get approval for courtin' and all, and - then Mizzy and me just kind of skipped a whole lot of steps.
[Silvestre]: Same's my family, only they weren't as, um, successful.
Cambrin smiles wryly. "Well, fortune favors the bold, forward momentum carries the day, and all that."
[Silvestre]: And people like us aren't built to be so patient. *Sil grins*
[Cambrin]: And I guess that's a mess of stuff I don't have to worry about.
Bennarin nods fervently at Cam.
[Silvestre]: Me neither.
[Bennarin]: An' be glad. It was gonna be … well, it was not gonna be pretty, the waitin'.
[Silvestre]: I think it's about headin' out time for me. Good to see you both. And I am in for the next Blackrock princess savin' expedition, Cam.
[Bennarin]: Oh, damn, yeah. I got to - I need to get back to the house an' get that stuff, and get back tonight.
[Cambrin]: No problem, gents.
Bennarin tips back his beer and finishes it in two swallows.
Silvestre sets down his own empty beer glass.
[Bennarin]: Good to see you, Cam. Maybe around Honor Hold sometime?
[Cambrin]: I'm for a hot bath to wash off some of that Hellfire clay.
[Silvestre]: Till next time, friends! *Sil says, a little bit tipsily*
Cambrin waves at Bennarin.
Bennarin nods sagely at Cam.
