It's been fourteen days since the Cobalt Company squads went through the Dark Portal. Two weeks, and we still haven't received any contact from the other side.

Meanwhile, we're here in Nethergarde working frantically to unlock the mysteries of interdimensional telemancy. This should be my dream. I'm working shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the elite of the Kirin Tor! But all the kudos and pats on the head from my idols is starting to turn into daily frustrations instead of the joy it used to be.

I am sure I've cracked the code. I couldn't have done it without Feera's help. Her knowledge of dimensional mechanics has been invaluable, and even after she left I was able to study her notes and gleaned so much from them. The draenei already knew how to translocate interdimensionally on a massive scale; that's exactly what the Exodar did when it came to Azeroth. The question is simply how to apply those principles to personal-scale teleportation.

While my superiors are constantly debating the validity of whether that hypothesis even applies to familiar arcane practices, my team and I have worked out the formulae. The numbers all add up. I know this will work! But the only way to be absolutely certain is to try…and one can only try from the other side. From Outland.

The Dark Portal is being warded on the Outland side to ensure no further invaders can come through; but we can still go through from our side. That's why it's so important that we crack this. We need to be able to open channels for communication and supplies to go back and forth without also opening the door for another invasion. If this works, we could theoretically even use the Dark Portal again by opening small "doors" in the Portal itself to allow non-mages through as needed (though that might take some time to set up).

My team has submitted our proposal to the Nethergarde council and they've said they'll get to it. But we're junior researchers and our team lead is away at Dalaran for several more days. The odds that they're going to look at it before she returns are slim. Even then there is no guarantee they would take us seriously. If Mr. Fauntleroy was here, I'm sure he would support me…but he went through the Portal even before Cobalt Company.

Light preserve all of them.

That's just it…we have no idea if they're safe, or how much longer they can hold out if they're not. Eventually they will need supplies. They will need to hear from their friends and families. They will need to come home….

What if I have the key to making that happen? I know I should I'm supposed to wait for the council to authorize a mission through the Portal. But is that right? I remember Papa once saying to me, "There'll be times in your life when you gotta make a choice between what's correct and what's right. Only your heart'll tell you which is which." It took me a long time to understand what he meant by that.

I know what's right.
