Writing letters to my mother used to be a pleasant way to go over the events of my life. I never knew if she actually read them, or if she simply tossed them in a fire. She's always been a hard person to read. As it transpires, she has been reading my letters. I know this for certain, because apparently I set her up with a druid. I'm honestly not entirely clear how that happened. I did describe what he looked like, but I didn't think I went overboard. Perhaps I should be writing romance novels? From his side, I understand it. He had that whole ten-thousand year missed-connection thing. From her side, who knows? Maybe the memory meant the same to her. Or maybe it was his handsome beard.

I really don't mind helping my mother meet new people. Elune knows I've been trying to convince her to do that for years. But perhaps I should be focusing more on my life. We're not immortal, and I need to seize the millenia. In any case, that's why I'm keeping a journal now. This is a record of my life for me, and not for somebody else.

The latest exciting thing in my life is still joining Larawen's mercenary company. Thus far, it marks a major improvement over my last team. There's also a delightful mix of cultures. I haven't had much chance to get to know many of the gnomes or dwarves, an unfortunate situation that I mean to rectify. Can you imagine living underground with stone or machines all around? And what is the world like, when you're so small? Humans, I have met in abundance, but I am sure each of those mayfly people have a unique story to tell.

Of course, I would also like to know my kaldorei colleagues. I spoke only briefly with Auralind Mistwalker, and I feel I should speak with her daughter Nilunelle, a druid. It's true that I have a few centuries on her, but I would still say we're both among the young of our kind. I would be curious to see if we shared a similar perpsective on our people's way of life. And if she's pretty. I'm not sure who else there is of my people—perhaps that courier the squads rescued?

Speaking of kaldorei, I met a woman up in Hillsbrad the other day. She never gave me her name, though I gave her mine. I'm sure I would recognize her again—her facial markings were quite distinctive. She seemed very closed off, quiet and cautious, almost as if she might be a long-lost family member of mine. My apologies for the jest (sister, mother, father) if ever you read this.

In any case, she had very strong opinions about the arcane, considering she is a contract hunter. Not the usual anti-arcane sentiment I often encounter, but specifically criticism about the training and usage of magic by modern-day mages. And she must be quite old—she spoke of the War of the Shifting Sands as if she'd been there, and I learned of it at all only recently. An interesting woman. I hope our paths cross again, that I might learn her name.
