Twenty-four hours in a day. Fifteen minutes to sprint up a mountain path and eat breakfast. Six hours of group fight training. Fifteen minutes for lunch. Two hours of personalized physical conditioning. One hour of personalized weapons instruction. Five hours of group fight training. 30 minutes with the Ravenholdt medics. One hour for dinner. Eight hours of personal time. Ivri took some of it to bathe, the rest to sleep.

After two full days of the schedule, Ivri was ready to call it quits. Nor was she the only one.

They all sat in the sand pit against the cool stone wall. Personalized weapons was finished, and the group fight training instructor hadn't shown yet, so they were all taking the time to breathe (except for Judah), drink (except for Judah), and complain (including Judah).

"Is this even worth it?" Ivri wondered aloud, staring up at the sky.

"Worth it to become the best at our tasks?" Llastra asked.

"I was already pretty good at it."

"My people always seek improvement," Tragg said, rough voice laden with scorn.

Ivri flopped her head to the side to look past Judah at the orc. "Didn't you guys pretty decisively lose a war and now you're cut off from all the other genocidal orcs?"

Tragg grinned at her. It was not a reassuring expression. "I still have a brick from Stormwind," he said. "I use it to wipe my ass after I shit."

She snorted, though it was a poor imitation of his. "If you use a brick for that, no wonder you're always in a bad mood."

"i mISs tHe UnDERCitY," Judah rasped.

"You do know I grew up in Lordaeron," Ivri said.

Judah shrugged. "noT In thE SeweRS, I'LL waGeR."

Well, he had a point.

"However good we were, someone felt we could improve. Were worth improving." Llastra said, the interruption in her thought process going unacknowledged.

Their trainers entered, talking softly to each other.

Tragg was the first to lever himself to his feet. "And we will take these improvements to our people, then use them against each other."

Ivri stood as well, exchanging uneasy glances with Judah. For once, she didn't have anything to say.

They went back to work, training against each other to fight against each other.
