Dungeon Quest Guide

Here you can find quest information on dungeon quests and their prerequisites to help you prepare for Cobalt Company dungeon runs. Dungeons are listed roughly in order of level, separated into tabs according to expansion; note that the level ranges are merely to give a general idea of a dungeon's difficulty (at least according to Wowhead.com). These ranges are not any kind of limit on who may or may not enter a dungeon.

Each quest will also note the quest's individual level requirement. It can be terribly frustrating to chase down a quest halfway across Azeroth only to find that your character is too low level for it.

Note that all quests listed are those available to Alliance characters.

The information is in the process of being updated for Cataclysm.

An archive of the pre-Cataclysm dungeon quest guides for Classic dungeons can be found here.

The Deadmines (16-24)

Location: Westfall. Go to the town of Moonbrook. Enter the southeasternmost building. This leads to the secrets mines. They're a bit of a maze, but will lead you to the instance portal.

  • Collecting Memories (14): Pick up from Wilder Thistlenettle in the Dwarven District, Stormwind. Takes place outside the instance. There will likely not be enough Miners' Union Cards dropped to supply a whole party. The undead respawn doesn't take too long after you've clear the area, though. You'll do this at the same time as…
  • Oh Brother... (15): Pick up from Wilder. Foreman Thistlenettle is in the same area of the Deadmines as the undead in the quest above.
  • Underground Assault (15): Pick up from Shoni the Shilent in the Dwarven District, Stormwind. OPTIONAL: First take Speak with Shoni (15) from Gnoarn in Tinker Town, Ironforge.

Quest Chain: The Defias Brotherhood

  1. The Defias Brotherhood, Part 1 (14): Pick up from Gryan Stoutmantle at Sentinel Hill, Westfall. This starts a series of quests (all named The Defias Brotherhoood) that takes you from Westfall to Lakeshire to Stormwind and back again. After you track down the Defias Messenger and bring his Mysterious Message back to Stoutmantle, you'll move on to…
  2. The Defias Brotherhood, Part 6 (14): This one stands out, as you are asked to escort the Defias Traitor to the secret hideout of the Defias Brotherhood. It is strongly recommended you get help for this, as you must take the Traitor through Moonbrook, where you can easily be overwhelmed by the Defias there trying to kill him (and you). If no Cobaltians are around, there are often people questing in Westfall willing to lend a hand.
  3. The Defias Brotherhood, Part 7 (14): Pick up from Gryan. Enter the Deadmines and kill Edwin VanCleef.

After escorting the Defias Traitor, the following quest also unlocks:

  • Red Silk Bandanas (14): Pick up from Scout Riell at Sentinel Hill, Westfall. She's at the top of the tower.

This quest is picked up in the dungeon:

  • An Unsent Letter (16): Loot An Unsent Letter from Edwin VanCleef. Use the item to start the quest. This begins a chain that leads to the Stockade and beyond.

Wailing Caverns (16-24)

Location: The Barrens. Southwest of Crossroads. Due west from Ratchet. There is a whole oasis around a skull-shaped cave (marked Wailing Caverns on the map). The instance portal is inside the cave.

  • Trouble at the Docks (18): Pick up from Crane Operator Bigglefuzz in Ratchet. Not technically a dungeon quest, as Mad Magglish spawns outside the instance (but in the same cave).

These quests are found just outside the dungeon, but the quest-givers (Nalpak and Ebru) can be tricky to find. The cave that leads to the dungeon entrance looks like a skull. The NPCs are in a small cave in the skull's right (westernmost) eye.

Quest Chain: Smart Drinks

  1. Raptor Horns (13): Pick up from Mebok Mizzyrix in Ratchet.
  2. Smart Drinks (13): Pick up from Mebok. This is the dungeon quest.

This quest starts in the dungeon, following a series of events:

  1. Kill all four Fanglords.
  2. Go back to the start of Wailing Caverns and speak to Disciple of Naralex to trigger escort.
  3. Escort Disciple of Naralex to a chamber where he starts a ritual.
  4. Protect him from waves of mobs attacking during ritual. Be sure to replenish health/mana between waves.
  5. Mutanus the Devourer spawns after waves. Defeat him and loot Glowing Shard.
  6. The Glowing Shard (15): Started by Glowing Shard.
  7. Leave dungeon and speak to Sputtervalve (by flight master) in Ratchet.
  8. Return to Wailing Caverns area (do not enter), climb atop the mountain to speak to the Falla Sagewind.
  9. In Nightmares (10): Pick up from Falla.
  10. Go to Darnassus and turn quest in to Mathrengyl Bearwalker.

Shadowfang Keep (17-25)

Shadowfang Keep has no Alliance quests (but is still very fun and offers plenty of great loot!). Paladins and warlocks do have some class quests that will require them to go to Shadowfang Keep.

Blackfathom Deeps (20-28)

This quest starts in the dungeon:

The Stockade (21-29)

A few quests take some legwork to collect:

  • What Comes Around... (22): Pick up from Guard Berton in Lakeshire.
  • Crime and Punishment (22): Pick up in Darkshire from Councilman Millstipe.
  • The Fury Runs Deep (25; NOT SHAREABLE): Technically, the quest is level 22, but it is unlocked by The Dark Iron War, which is level 25. After unlocking, pick up from Motley Garmason in Dun Modr, the Wetlands (the same NPC that gives you The Dark Iron War).

These quests are found in Stormwind City; one is part of a chain:

Quest Chain: The Stockade Riots

  1. The Unsent Letter (16): This quest is picked up from an item that drops from Edwin VanCleef, the final boss of the Deadmines. So if you haven't done that dungeon yet, you won't be able to do this chain. If you have, take the letter to Baros Alexston in City Hall of Stormwind. He will give you…
  2. Bazil Thredd (16): Baros sends you to speak with Warden Thelwater, who then gives you…
  3. The Stockade Riots (16): This is the dungeon quest for the Stockade. When you complete it, turn in it to Warden Thelwater. The quest chain continues after this, but no longer involves the Stockade.

Razorfen Kraul (23-31)

There are two quests that require a bit of legwork to get.

  • Blueleaf Tubers (20; NOT SHAREABLE): Pick up from Mebok Mizzyrix in Ratchet and make sure to collect the three pieces of associated equipment next to the quest giver. This should be accessible to all of us. Note: When you turn it in, if you happen to be missing any of the equipment, you can pick it up from the supplies next to Mebok again.

Quest Chain: The Crone of the Kraul

  1. Lonebrow's Journal (23; NOT SHAREABLE): A book on a corpse at the bottom of the Great Lift, just a bit to the west as you come down. Read the journal. You will want to follow the road west through Thousand Needles to the border of Feralas, and deliver the journal to a guy by the flight point. This will then give you…
  2. The Crone of the Kraul (23) This is the dungeon quest to kill one of the bosses in RFK.

There are two quests we can pick up in the dungeon itself. Both of these are found in the same location, but from different quest givers.

  • Mortality Wanes (25): Pick up from Heralath Fallowbrook, the dying night elf. IMPORTANT! Take this quest before the following quest from the goblin.
  • Willix the Importer (22): Pick up from Willix the Importer. IMPORTANT! Make sure everyone is ready to accept before accepting this quest, as it is an escort quest.

Gnomeregan (24-32)

  • OPTIONAL: Klockmort's Essentials (24): Pick up from Mathiel in Warrior's Terrace in Darnassus. This is just a bread crumb that leads to Essential Artificials below, and is not actually necessary.
  • Gyrodrillmatic Excavationators (20): Pick up from Shoni the Shilent in the Dwarven District of Stormwind City.
  • Save Techbot's Brain! (20): Pick up from Tinkmaster Overspark in Tinker Town, Ironforge.
  • The Day After (20): Pick up from Gnoarn in Tinker Town, Ironforge. This leads to the Gnogaine Quest Chain, below.
  • Essential Artificials (24): Pick up from Klockmort Spannerspan in Tinker Town, Ironforge.
  • Data Rescue (25): Pick up from Master Mechanic Castpipe in Tinker Town, Ironforge. See "Data Rescue" notes below.
  • The Grand Betrayal (25): Pick up from High Tinker Mekkatorque in Tinker Town, Ironforge.

Quest Chain: Gnogaine

  1. Gnogaine (20): Pick up from Ozzie Togglevolt in Kharanos, Dun Morogh. You will want to complete this quest before entering the instance (see Pre-Instance Preparation, below). After completing, turn in to Ozzie Togglevolt and pick up…
  2. The Only Cure is More Green Glow (20): This is the actual dungeon quest.

These quests start in the dungeon:

  • A Fine Mess (20): This is an escort quest. Find Kernobee in the Dormitory, near the first Data Rescue terminal inside the instance.
  • The Sparklematic 5200! (25): Repeatable quest. This machine is found in the Dormitory. Basically a slot machine requiring a [Grime-Encrusted Object] and 3 silver. Returns some random items (usually tradeskill goods).
  • Grime-Encrusted Ring (28): Started by the object, [Grime-Encrusted Ring], dropped by Dark Iron Agents. Use in the Sparklematic 5200 to clean it. You will be reward with a [Brilliant Gold Ring].
    • OPTIONAL: You can keep the ring, or you can take the quest Return of the Ring (28) and take the ring to Talvash del Kissel in Ironforge. Bring along a [Silver Bar], a [Moss Agate], and 30 silver as well.
    • Turn in the quest to Talvash, then pick up and turn in Gnome Improvement (28) to receive [Talvash's Gold Ring].

Pre-Instance Preparation

When collecting quests, go into Gnomeregan and complete Gnogaine, Save Techbot's Brain!, and start Data Rescue. Hand in Gnogaine and get The Only Cure Is More Green Glow before entering the instance.

Inside the Instance: First Steps

Once inside the instance, complete the Grubbis event with Blastmaster Emi Shortfuse, head to the Dormitory to input your white punchcard, and escort Kernobee to the exit.

Data Rescue

The white card drops from the elite mobs outside the instance close to Techbot, and the first card reader is on the platform near Techbot. When you put the card in that reader, you will get a yellow one.

Take the yellow punch card to the Dormitory, near Kernobee to receive a blue.

Take the blue punch card to the top of the Launch Bay on the platform, near the Electrocutioner. You'll get a red card.

Take the red punch card to the bottom of the platform in the Engineering Labs. You will get a Prismatic card, and complete the quest.

Scarlet Monastery (28-44)

  • Mythology of the Titans (28): Pick up from Librarian Mae Paledust in the Hall of Explorers in Ironforge. This will be completed in Scarlet Monastery: Library.

Quest Chain: In the Name of the Light

  1. (Optional step) Brother Anton (34): Pick up quest from Brother Crowley in Stormwind, and it will send you to Brother Anton in Desolace. This leads to…
  2. Down the Scarlet Path, Part 1 (34): Pick up from Brother Anton and kill Undead Ravagers in southern Desolace. Turn in to Brother Anton and get…
  3. Down the Scarlet Path, Part 2 (34): Take a letter from Brother Anton to Raleigh the Devout in Southshore. Technically the next step isn't part of the actual chain, so there isn't a quest leading directly to it, but you are given an item and instructions leading to…
  4. In the Name of the Light (34): Pick up from Raleigh the Devout in Southshore. The quest requires killing the bosses in Scarlet Monastery: Library, Armory, and Cathedral, so it will take a few dungeon runs to get.

Razorfen Downs (33-41)

The lowest level parts of Razorfen Downs can be done as early as level 28, but it is recommended you wait until at least level 32 or higher. The final boss is a level 37 baddie, and the quest to take him on requires 32.

Start in Stormwind, where you'll get your first quest.

  • Bring the Light (32): Pick up from Archbishop Benedictus in the Cathedral in Stormwind City.

Go to the southern Barrens. Razorfen Downs is location just east of Razorfen Kraul. There is an outer area full of quilboar. In there you will find a night elf named Myriam Moonsinger. The following quest is not required for Razorfen Downs, but it's convenient to do since you're right there and killing quilboar anyhow.

  • A Host of Evil (28): Pick up from Myriam Moonsinger. All of the quilboar to kill for this quest are located outside the instance, so it is recommended you finish this quest before entering. The instance entrance inside a cave very close to Myriam.

This quest chain begins inside the instance. It is strongly recommended that you clear the area from the idol to the Murder Pens before starting this chain.

Quest Chain: Extinguishing the Idol

  • Scourge of the Downs (32): When you reach the Murder Pens, open Belnistrasz's cell (by clicking on the wooden cage) and take this quest from him. He will give you [Belnistrasz's Oathstone]. Speak with him again to return the oathstone and complete the quest.
  • Extinguishing the Idol (32): Make sure everyone in the party has turned in the previous quest before starting this one, and make sure they are ready. This is an escort and Belnistrasz will start to run fast as soon as the quest is accepted. Follow him to the idol and protect him as he performs his ritual. After he finishes, turn in the quest at the brazier he leaves behind.

Uldaman (36-44)

These quests start in the Hall of Explorers in Ironforge:

These quests take place outside the dungeon, but are convenient while doing other Uldaman content.

Quest Chain: Uldaman Reagent Run

  1. Badlands Reagent Run (36): Pick up from and turn in to Ghak Healtouch in Thelsamar, Loch Modan.
  2. Uldaman Reagent Run (38): Pick up from Ghak Healtouch.

  3. Murdaloc (30): Complete the quest the head back to Loch Modan and turn in with Prospector Ironband.
  4. Agmond's Fate (30): Pick up from Prospector Ironband. Note that the urns are located outside the instance.

These quests start in Badlands:

  • Solution to Doom (30): Pick up from Theldurin the Lost in the south of Badlands.
  • Power Stones (30): Pick up from Rigglefuzz in Badlands in a pass between two mountains in the middle of the map. Part of this quest can be completed outside the instance.

Quest Chain: The Lost Tablets of Will

  1. A Sign of Hope, Part 1 (35): Pick up from a Crumpled Map at Hammertoe's Digsite in Badlands. The map is located in a surveyor's site at ground level, not down in the dig.
  2. A Sign of Hope, Part 2 (35): Pick up from Prospector Ryedol. Go to the uninstanced portion of Uldaman and turn in with Hammertoe Grez.
  3. Amulet of Secrets (35): Pick up from Hammertoe Grez.
  4. Prospect of Faith, Part 1 (35): If doing this chain as a group, be aware that taking this quest causes Grez to despawn for several minutes, preventing others from getting the quest until he respawns. Turn in with Prospector Ryedol in Badlands.
  5. Prospect of Faith, Part 2 (35): Pick up from Prospector Ryedol. Turn in with Historian Karnik in Ironforge. This unlocks…
  6. Passing Word of a Threat, Parts 1 & 2 (35): Pick up from Karnik and walk ten steps or less to deliver the note to Advisor Belgrum, then back again.
  7. An Ambassador of Evil (35): Pick up from Karnik.
  8. The Lost Tablets of Will (35): Pick up from Advisor Belgrum.

Quest Chain: Restoring the Necklace

  1. The Shattered Necklace (37): This quest is started by an item (The Shattered Necklace) that drops from Dark Iron Dwarves and troggs in the caves outside the instance, as well as some troggs inside the instance. Turn it in to Talvash del Kissel in the Mystic Ward in Ironforge.
  2. Lore for a Price (37): Pick up from Talvash. He will want 5 silver bars (not silver pieces) to complete this quest.
  3. Back to Uldaman (37): Pick up from Talvash. He will provide you with a Phial of Scrying you will use in the next quest. Enter Uldaman and turn in at the Remains of a Paladin.
  4. Find the Gems (37): Pick up from Remains of a Paladin. Use the Phial of Scrying to summon Talvash's Scrying Bowl and turn in the quest.
  5. Restoring the Necklace (37): Pick up from Talvash's Scrying Bowl. Loot the Shattered Necklace Power Source from Archaedas. Turn in to Talvash.

Maraudon (40-52)

Picked up in the dungeon:

  • Seed of Life (39): Pick up from Zaetar's Spirit after killing Princess Theradras.

Zul'Farrak (42-50)

  • Tiara of the Deep (40): Pick up from Tabetha in Dustwallow Marsh.
  • Gahz'rilla (40): Pick up from Wizzle Brassbolts in the Shimmering Flats in Thousand Needles. This is the quest for the much-coveted Carrot on a Stick trinket.
  • Troll Temper (40): Pick up from Trenton Lighthammer in Gadgetzan.
  • Scarab Shells (40): Pick up from Tran'rek in Gadgetzan.
  • Divino-matic Rod (40): Pick up from Chief Engineer Bilgewhizzle in Gadgetzan.

Quest Chain: The Prophecy of Mosh'aru

  1. Screecher Spirits (40): Pick up from Yeh'kinya in Steamwheedle Port, Tanaris.
  2. The Prophecy of Mosh'aru (40): Pick up from Yeh'kinya. The folow-up quests are worth doing, as they prepare you for Sunken Temple content.

Quest Chain: Nekrum's Medallion

  1. Witherbark Cages (40): Pick up from Gryphon Master Talonaxe in Aerie Peak, the Hinterlands.
  2. The Altar of Zul (40): Pick up from Talonaxe. Bring friends, because while at the Altar of Zul, you'll want to kill Qiaga the Keeper (50 elite, and she has allies), who drops the Sacred Mallet, which will eventually become the Mallet of Zul'Farrak (NOTE: this is no longer necessary to summon Gahz'rilla for the quest above, but the mallet is now a pretty nice blue one-handed mace).
  3. Thadius Grimshade (40): Pick up from Talonaxe.
  4. Nekrum's Medallion (40): Pick up from Thadium Grimshade in Nethergarde Keep, Blasted Lands.

Sunken Temple (45-54)

(This dungeon's proper name is the Temple of Atal'Hakkar; but the colloquial name, "Sunken Temple", is near-universally preferred.)

  • Jammal'an the Prophet (38): Pick up from the Atal'ai Exile in the Hinterlands. He's in Shadra'Alor on a ledge of the southernmost ziggurat.

Quest Chain: The God Hakkar

  1. Screecher Spirits (40): Pick up from Yeh'kinya in Steamwheedle Port on the coast of Tanaris. While you're in Feralas, pick up The Sunken Temple (see below).
  2. The Prophecy of Mosh'aru (40): This quest takes you to Zul'Farrak.
  3. The Ancient Egg (40): Head to the top of Jintha'Alor in the Hinterlands, to the cave behind the sacrificial altar.
  4. The God Hakkar (40): This is the actual dungeon quest to take out one of the bosses.

Quest Chain: The Sunken Temple

  1. The Sunken Temple (46): Pick up from Angelas Moonbreeze at Feathermoon Stronghold in Feralas. She will send you to a goblin in the middle of Tanaris, who will give you…
  2. The Stone Circle (46): Pick up from Marvon Rivetseeker. He'll send you to Ratchet to pick up an item from a chest there and return it to him, at which point he will give you two dungeon quests…
  • Into the Depths (46): Just click on the altar to turn in the quest, which then reveals the order in which to complete…
  • Secret of the Circle (46): Click snake statues! Well, in the proper order. Best done as a party after clearing the floor of enemies.

Quest Chain: Haze of Evil

  1. Muigin and Larion (47): Pick up from Muigin at Marshal's Refuge in Un'goro Crater.
  2. A Visit to Gregan (47): Muigin will send you to Gregan in Feralas…
  3. Haze of Evil (47): Pick up from Gregan Brewspewer in Feralas. He's west of the road, south of the Twin Colossals.

Quest Chain: Into the Temple of Atal'Hakkar
Many find this chain to be a bit of a pain. It does reward a trinket, so some might find it worthwhile. We won't detail the entirety of it, but it starts with:

  1. In Search of the Temple (38): Picked up from Brohann Caskbelly in the Dwarven District tavern in Stormwind City. This will take you on a series of quests that eventually leads to…
  2. Into the Temple of Atal'Hakkar (38): The dungeon quest, which is simply gathering 10 tablets scattered all over the temple (both in and out of the instance).

One quest is found inside in the dungeon, which leads to its own chain:

Quest Chain: The Essence of Eranikus

  1. The Essence of Eranikus, Part 1 (48):After defeating Eranikus, loot the Essence of Eranikus and use it to start the quest. Completing this will give you the Chained Essence of Eranikus. You can stop there if you like, but this unlocks the following quest.
  2. The Essence of Eranikus, Part 2 (48): Speak to Itharius in the cave in southwest of Swamp of Sorrows. IMPORTANT! If you accept his request for help, you will lose your trinket and there is no better reward because the chain is incomplete. If you choose to continue, Itharius will give you…
  3. In Eranikus' Own Words (48): Off to Winterspring to speak with Umbranse the Spiritspeaker. And that's all folks.

Blackrock Depths (48-60)

Blackrock Depths is essentially in two parts: Detention Block and Upper City. Note that there is a class quest for each class, which can be simply picked up from your trainer in Stormwind City. For brevity, we will not list these quests.

Detention Block

  • The Heart of the Mountain (51): Pick up from Maxwort Uberglint at the beginning of the dungeon. This one does require you to get all the keys to open the vault in one run. They seem to despawn in your inventory when you logout. Thus, this one may be too troublesome to do.
  • The Sealed Gate (47): Pick up from Tinkee Steamboil at the beginning of the dungeon.

Upper City

Blackrock Spire (53-61)

[FORTHCOMING: SEEKING VOLUNTEERS]

Dire Maul (54-61)

Dire Maul is split into different wings, each a complete dungeon on its own.

East Wing

  • Lethtendris's Web (54): Pick up from Latronicus Moonspear in Feathermoon Stronghold in Feralas. OPTIONAL: First pick up the breadcrumb quest, Feathermoon Stronghold (54). This can be picked up from Crier Goodman (Stormwind), Courier Hammerfall (Ironforge), or Herald Moonstalker (Darnassus).
  • Pusillin and the Elder Azj'Tordin (54): Pick up from Azj'Tordin in Feralas. He is at the Lariss Pavilion (closer to Thalanaar than Feathermoon), north of Camp Mojache.

Quest Chain: Shards of the Felvine
This chain is odd, because it doesn't become available until after you have entered Dire Maul. The good news is that apparently you can loot the Felvine Shard even if you don't have the quest.

  1. A Reliquary of Purity (56): Pick up from Rabine Saturna in Nighthaven, Moonglade.
  2. Shards of the Felvine (56): Defeat Alzzin the Wildshaper in Dire Maul East. A object will spawn after Alzzin's defeat that you must loot to acquire the Felvine Shard.

West Wing

All of these quests are picked up in the dungeon:

Quest Chain: The Treasure of the Shen'dralar

  1. The Madness Within (56): Pick up from Shen'dralar Ancient. The 5 Pylons are the objects surrounded by the Arcane elemental-looking mobs. Mages beware, they are immune to arcane. Kill all of these mobs and you will hear a loud crack; that is the pylon powering down. When all five are down, the shield surrounding Immol'thar will drop.
    • After you have slain Immol'thar and Prince Tortheldrin, you must go back to the courtyard to speak to the Shen'dralar Ancient again to turn in the quest and get the follow-up.
  2. The Treasure of the Shen'dralar (56): Pick up from Shen'dralar Ancient. Go back to the library and loot the chest under the stairs.

This mage quest is still in the game, but the reward is obsolete, as it is now learned from mage trainers. It is still worth XP and Shen'dralar reputation, though.

  • Arcane Refreshment (60): Pick up from Lorekeep Lydros in the library of Dire Maul. The quest itself takes you to Dire Maul North.

Scholomance (56-61)

How to Acquire the Scholomance Key

For this chain, you will need:

  • 15 gold
  • [Thorium Bar] x 2

Note that while the first two quests only require level 50, the later ones require at least level 55.

andorhal_towers.png
  1. Clear the Way (50): Pick up from Commander Ashlam Valorfist at Chillwind Camp in Western Plaguelands. When finished, turn in to Valorfist.
  2. All Along the Watchtowers (50): Pick up from Ashlam Valorfist. The [Beacon Torch] needs to be used within a few meters of the front door of each tower. See the image to the right for the approximate locations of the towers. Turn in to Valorfist.
  3. Scholomance (55): Pick up from Commander Ashlam Valorfist and turn in to Alchemist Arbington at Chillwind Camp.
  4. Skeletal Fragments (55): Pick up from Alchemist Arbington. The Skeletal Acolytes and Skeletal Executioners in and around the Ruins of Andorhal seem to have a 100% drop rate (farming the graveyard south of Andorhal is quickest and easiest). Turn in to Arbington.
  5. Mold Rhymes With... (55): Pick up from Alchemist Arbington. Travel to Gadgetzan in Tanaris and turn in to Krinkle Goodsteel. Before you leave Gadgetzan, make sure you have your two (2) Thorium Bars in your inventory.
  6. Fire Plume Forged (55): Fly to Un'goro Crater. Climb the volcano roughly in the middle of the crater. At the top is a small "lake" of lava. Stand on the northern shore, in a lower part of the land where you can get right next to the lava. Use the [Skeleton Key Mold] at that spot. There will be some violet tremors, but it's nothing to worry about. Return to the Western Plaguelands and turn in to Alchemist Arbington at Chillwind Camp.
  7. Araj's Scarab (55): Pick up from Alchemist Arbington. Also pick up Alas, Andorhal (50) from Commander Ashlam Valorfist, as both quests require you to kill Araj the Summoner. Araj is a tough fight, and he has plenty of help, so you should get some too. Araj can be a bit easier to fight if you've done Chromie's quest, Counting Out Time (53) to acquire an [Attuned Dampener], but it isn't strictly necessary. When Araj is dead, loot both his body and the phylactery that drops. Return to Chillwand Camp and turn in your quests to Valorfist and Alchemist Arbington. Congratulations, you have your Scholomance key!

Quest Chain: Ras Frostwhisper
This a quest chain for both Scholomance and Stratholme.

  1. Doctor Theolen Krastinov, the Butcher (55): Listen to Eva Sarkhoff's story, after which the quest is available. Eva is a ghost found just outside Scholomance.
  2. Krastinov's Bag of Horrors (55): Take the Bag of Horrors to Eva Sarkhoff.
  3. Kirtonos the Herald (55): Turn in to Eva Sarkhoff.
  4. The Human, Ras Frostwhisper (57): This quest is now unlocked and can be picked up from Magistrate Marduke in Caer Darrow. You will need to equip the [Spectral Essence] trinket you received from Kirtonos the Herald to see Marduke.
  5. The Dying, Ras Frostwhisper (57): Turn in to Leonid Barthalomew the Revered at Light's Hope Chapel in Eastern Plaguelands.
  6. Menethil's Gift – Part 1 (57): You will see a large symbol on the ground. Click it to complete the quest.
  7. Menethil's Gift – Part 2 (57): Turn in to Leonid Barthalomew the Revered.
  8. Soulbound Keepsake (57): Return to Caer Darrow in Western Plaguelands and turn in to Magistrate Marduke.
  9. The Lich, Ras Frostwhisper (57): Turn in to Magistrate Marduke.

Quest Chain: Healthy Dragon Scale

  1. Plagued Hatchlings (55): Pick up from Betina Bigglezink at Light's Hope Chapel in Eastern Plaguelands. After completing, a Healthy Dragon Scale should drop, which starts the next quest.
  2. Healthy Dragon Scale (55): Turn in this quest and Plagued Hatchlings to Betina Bigglezink.

Stratholme (56-61)

All of these quests are picked up at Light's Hope Chapel in Eastern Plaguelands.

Picked up in the dungeon:

  • The Medallion of Faith (55): Retrieve the Medallion from Malor the Zealous, who is in the Scarlet area of the city. Then speak to Aurius, found in a church near the side entrance to Stratholme. (This one is a little odd, as you don't actually acquire the quest from Aurius, but you can only turn it in to him after you've picked up the quest item.)

Quest Chain: The Active Agent

  1. The Flesh Does Not Lie (55): Pick up from Betina Bigglezink at Light's Hope Chapel in Eastern Plaguelands. After the dungeon, turn in to Betina to pick up the next quest (which will require another dungeon run).
  2. The Active Agent (55): Pick up from Betina.

Quest Chain: Of Love and Family
Before starting this chain, you must complete three other quests, all obtained from Tirion Fordring in Eastern Plaguelands:

Tirion will then give you a series of quests leading to the Stratholme quest:

  1. Redemption (52)
