RP Hooks

If you were involved in the art scene, theater in particular, you may have met young Yseulde wearing the most achingly fashionable gown for a girl her age, and looking like she was ready to bite it

If you enjoyed shooting contests - archery, skeet shooting, trick shooting - you've seen Yseulde compete. Not the runaway best eye in Gilneas, but stiff competition at least

If you were involved with the Gilneas Horticultural Society or the Gilneas Flower Show, Yseulde was in attendance at many of the events.

If you have attended Rose House Productions, you may have seen Yseulde as a child actor, singing soprano to the back of the house—until her voice broke in puberty, anyway

If you were involved with the harvest witches, Yseulde was there, with her ethereal younger brother, Anselyn.

If you survived and had business with the community that banded itself around a group of healers trying to find a cure, you could have met Yseulde as one of the scouts, guards, and hunters.

Appearance

Yseulde is a woman in her late twenties, with long black hair floating around her face, a few strands braided with beads and charms from an old silver bracelet. She is watchful, tracking movements around her, and she meets people's gaze in an unnervingly direct manner. She wears hunting garb and eschews ladylike dress, as if skirts were designed specifically to annoy her. She walks as if she's ready to fight for her life at any moment.

Personality

DRIVEN • VIGILANT • PROTECTIVE • LOYAL

Yseulde carries the nightmare of her years in Gilneas in every moment. She knows where the exits are no matter where she is, and the tension that saved her life over and over carries her through the world outside the walls. She watches, she waits, she guards herself, but around safe people and innocents, she includes them in her protective attitude. But for all her hard edges, beauty and kindnes still has the power to touch her. If she ever feels safe enough to let someone watch over her, she'd follow that person to the ends of the earth.

*Regarding the romancability of Yseulde:*

History

Yseulde grew up with beauty and wonder - her parents both dashing, glamorous members of Gilneas' vibrant community of artists and their patrons.
Kellandra Pearson rejected the offer of a wealthy young Gilnean lord to have carte blanche as his mistress to marry an earnest young man who had bred Kellandra's Heart - a creamy peach rose whose fragrance filled the night air. In return, she made his roses the height of fashion and his garden design business heavily sought after. They had a healthy, robust boy two months before their first anniversary, then a girl and another boy, all spaced four years apart.

Raised with liberal and near revolutionary attitudes for a young girl, Yseulde wore trousers, learned to ride, shoot, dance, sing, and recite poetry. Her father especially enjoyed announcing to their dinner guests that she was responsible for the venison and fowl that graced their table, while she counted the minutes before she could get out of whatever wretched, fashionable gown her mother provided for her. She longed for the hills and woods beyond the city where she and her younger brother Anselyn felt most at home.

Anselyn was her favorite person in the world from the moment she had been let into the nursery to meet him. She promised to watch over him and she did, following to make sure he didn't tumble straight into danger. When he revealed the old power that sang in the hearts of the forest witches, she delighted in his mystical understanding of the land around them and how they thrived in concert with it.

This didn't make either of them promising candidates for marriage. She was a hoyden; he was strange and fey. Neither of them cared a bit. Neither did they involve themselves in the tension between their eldest brother Harlowe, now involved in politics as a staunch supporter of Gilneas' separation and the wall, and their mother, who disappoved of such extreme isolation.

When the worgen curse took their brother and parents, they fled and found a group who had banded together to defend the alchemists and healers working frantically to research a cure. Yseulde kept them thriving with her hunting skills, taking shifts as a scout to retrieve materials for research. When one of the researchers believed they needed dreamfoil to create a compound to sedate a worgen long enough for the cure to take effect, Yseulde knew exactly where to find it - in the greenhouse where her father had cultivated more exotic plants not native to Gilneas.

The mission was incredibly dangerous. Anselyn wanted to come with her. He could keep the plants happy once they were uprooted so they could re-plant and cultivate them. Reluctantly, she agreed.

They were attacked on the way out of Gilneas. Yseulde fought like a devil so her brother could get away. Her partial recovery from the curse proved that he succeeded. But no one from the coterie devoted to the cure could tell her where he was now.
