  • A Selkie: Vanaja is essentially a selkie with her pelt currently safe. But someday, that might change.

Appearance

Vanaja stands at 6'5"/196cm, with pale blue skin touched with small blooms of the brownish tan of a seal's pelt. Her hair is short and very dark blue, and her eyes are bright silver, edged with odd touches of golden light. She has a very rounded, plump form, likely gained over much time spent in freezing waters in the druid water form, and her nails are thick, sharp, and black. She has a very soft way of moving, like she's flowing from one location to another, and that's on land — in the water, she is grace itself, and utterly in place among the waves. Her voice is deep and sonorous for a woman.

Personality

ALIGNMENT: NEUTRAL/NEUTRAL

Vanaja - A Forest Girl; Born Of The Water; Natural

Those who first meet Vanaja may be struck most by her size and demeanor, a softness that can be deceptive, for those that believe that soft means weak or lazy. There's a energy in the druid, much like the ocean that calls to her spirit, both calm and deep, and capable of momentous power. Her first call though is not to destroy, but to nurture, to care for her community and her environment. She is as curious as a seal, delighted by novelty and adventure, and intrigued by depths. Like many druids, her sense of morality is not strictly of good or evil, but of the natural, and the balance of powers.

History

BIRTHDAY: JULY 2ND, YEAR UNKNOWN

The trouble with Vanaja has always been that she seems to always follow the rules, and be willing to go with the flow — until they do not align with what she believes herself. More than one has mistaken her willingness to learn and hear another as agreement, and learned only when she acts that she has not, in fact, agreed at all, and will not be moved from her position through force or intimidation. Such it went for her as the druidic traditions shifted, and Vanaja refused to follow. Fite her, Staghelm.

But on a particular day, life altered. Something broke the druid, enough that she walked into the sea, and she did not walk back out for several hundred years. Only now has she emerged, with a purpose, only to discover that what she has done has locked her in her kaldorei form unless she remains by one person.
