RP Hooks
- Genedar/Exodar - Any Draenei on either of these ships likely know of her at least a little.
- Midwifery - She might have delivered draenei's children on Draenor, or assisted with particularly difficult pregnancies during years 26-27 on Azeroth
- Vindicators - She is currently seeking out experienced Vindicators for advice and training.
- Vindicator Astaar - You might have known Vaaria's late husband, a skilled combatant with a slightly flamboyant sense of humor, generally disliked at first for seeming flippant, self-centered, and childish. Over time many found hidden vulnerability and fear at the heart of his sharp comments and came to love him dearly and feel protective of him despite themselves. Vaaria clearly brought out the best in him, always giving him courage and turning him toward the Light.
Appearance
Vaaria has powder-blue skin and downswept horns. Her long, pale hair is usually worn in a complex but sturdy updo that conveys elegance while also staying out of her way during combat. She is almost never seen without armor these days.
Vaaria moves with graceful economy, never overstepping, overreaching, or wasting a gesture. Her face defaults to a polite, composed expression; negative emotions such as frustration or grief are more likely to slip through her mask than amusement or enjoyment.
Personality
DEDICATED ⬥ DIGNIFED ⬥ SLY ⬥ EMOTIONAL
Whatever job or task Vaaria takes on, she gives it her all and persists through obstacles. She was a devoted midwife and, in the only known example of her abandoning a path, she is now a devoted Vindicator.
While she can be difficult to read and too focused on her work to linger on personal matters, her emotions run very strongly and deeply beneath the surface, and in fact motivate everything she does. Those who find their way past her outer shell are rewarded with an intelligent sense of humor that even goes so far as a tendency toward mischief. Among strangers, she is often seen with a slight crooked smile that she does not bother to explain - some joke she has told to herself and sees no need to share with others.
History
Born on the draenei exile-ship Genedar, Vaaria was best known as a midwife in Draenor and on the Exodar. She has a rare gift - in addition to being able to reach, heal and comfort the bodies and souls of people as many priests could do, she could also reach and "read" unborn souls, sensing various conditions and sometimes easing them before birth.
Alhough she had a long-standing mutual love with the pale, striking, and charismatic Vindicator Astaar, they did not marry until just after the crash of the Exodar, when Velen made his prophecy about Azeroth being his people's final home. Her first contact with Cobalt Company was not long after her arrival in Azeroth, when she assisted Elohad Ference's wife during her unexpected late-in-life pregnancy. She also later assisted Tadget in giving birth to healthy triplets, by presiding over the surgery as a healer and working with Jocoza Sparkwire's special technology.
In Year 28, Deathwing incinerated Vindicator Astaar along with many others in his rampage across Azeroth. Astaar's body was nothing but ash mixed with that of many others; there was nothing for Vaaria to separate out and try to bring back. She immediately left her job as a healer/midwife and began training as a Vindicator.
Relationships
Vindicator Baalun Trained her late husband in the way of the Vindicator, and is training her now. He is the perfect example of all Vaaria aspires to be, and she's deeply honored that he agreed to personally oversee her instruction.
Halnar Thundervein An amusing dwarf she worked with in Stonetalon and the Barrens, who appears to carry an air elemental around inside a balloon. He apparently fell off a gryphon and may have some brain damage.
Lord Cerethan Starflight A "Highborne" elf who is intelligent, sophisticated, experienced, arrogant a.f., and very amusing when he does not mean to be. He is an expert in matters arcane, and like Baalun, has witnessed the deceptions of Sargeras and their aftermath.
Corvin The first worgen she ever met, and adjusting to his two different forms was at first a bit startling. He worked with her in Stonetalon and the Barrens, and was accompanied by a sly fox and a sly wit.
Jocoza Sparkwire Co-developed a system for mechanically extracting milk and tube-feeding infants who were too premature to nurse naturally, using a combination of arcane methods, draenei knowledge, and gnomish technology. Accomplished, reliable, and a pleasure to work with.
Tadget Sharpgear Alerted her that she was having triplets thanks to her irresponsible use of an experimental fertility elixir, and helped develop technology and magic that allowed the safe delivery and survival of all three babies.
Niris Ference Assisted during her late-in-life pregnancy and childbirth to ensure the healthy arrival of Little Dane.
Saion She hit that not long after her husband died. She hasn't spoken to him since. It doesn't seem to bother him.
