- Ex-guard of Lordaeron: Not only was Therald a guard in Lordaeron, which means he has met or seen a lot of people living there, he also took his leave only a few weeks before the orcs sieged the Capital.
- Bad reputation: His family was disgraced after his father attacked a higher-ranking noble. That had an impact on the Oakley family's reputation. Not only that, but the fact that he left his duty as a guard so close to a siege gave him some kind of deserter reputation.
- Guard for the Argent Dawn: As someone who is not versed in the Light's magic, his job at the Argent Dawn mostly consists of keeping watch. He's currently IC working at the Dark Portal (OOC he's level 11, so getting there is kind of dangerous for him right now!). The Argent Dawn might be one of the only groups on Azeroth that perceives him in a good light.
- Small village: Therald is from a small village in Tirisfal Glades. Maybe you come from that area too.
Appearance
Therald is a short, muscular man with tan skin and long dark hair, usually tied into two messy braids. His eyes are light blue.
He has a bushy, well-groomed beard.
Therald has a few scars on his body, but most prominently, a very clear one in his stomach.
Personality
Therald is a kind and very sensitive man. Due to how he feels about himself, he is completely focused on his work and doesn't socialize much. The fact that Therald is also quite secretive and shy doesn't help. He usually likes hanging out in nature or with animals more than he does with people.
He has a profound hatred for anything that threatens Azeroth, like the Scourge and the Burning Legion.
Therald has a strong moral code that he follows very closely, hoping to bring some good into the world.
Therald is now romanceable. Therald is mostly attracted to other humans, but could potentially romance someone of other races. Regarding gender, Therald is pansexual. Someone's gender doesn't matter to him.
His previous marriage ended terribly, so getting him to trust you is going to be pretty difficult, and will take time. He still has a lot of trauma and a complicated relationship with his ex-wife.
He is more interested in long-term relationships. This doesn't mean he's not interested in casual relationships. Those would be more of a "heat of the moment" thing, and less likely to become a regular thing - he'd get attached too much, and he'd hope for it to become more serious.
Therald is monogamous.
Therald needs someone who's more assertive than he is, not only because that's the kind of person he likes, but also because he is way too shy and insecure to make the first move. Therald loves spontaneous people but will be wary of those who are too careless.
History
Therald grew up in a village near Silverpine Forest, in Tirisfal Glades. He was the son of disgraced nobles.
From childhood, he didn't have a great relationship with his parents, more preoccupied with their loss of title and reputation. He therefore grew closer to the rest of their village, although some of them had some reservation about the son of such characters.
Eventually, he was taken as a blacksmith apprentice by the patriarch of the Netelle family. Because of the time he spent with that family, he grew close to their eldest daughter, Sirie. The two fell in love, became husband and wife, and had a son.
Therald became a guard for the City of Lordaeron, where he worked for a few months. His wife - who was now a dark art practitioner - accidentally summoned a Felguard that massacred the people of their village, including most members of their respective families. Therald, who wanted to turn his wife in, was stabbed and killed while she ran away, leaving their child there. He was brought back to life by Sirie's Soul Stone ring that he had stolen, only a little too late, though, as someone had taken their child with them.
After coming back to life, Therald grew a deep self-hatred, because if he is still alive today, it's thanks to the magic that took his loved ones away from him. He left the guards of Lordaeron and traveled, doing some manual work, helping other villages fight against the Orcs,..
Eventually, he joined the Argent Dawn, hoping to fight the kind of dark threats that had taken everything from him.
