- Twin: Has a twin sister, Hespyth. Though identical, it is very easy to tell them apart by their demeanors. They are not merely twins, but kalanore, twins who share the same soul.
- Highborne: Syreithe is one of the Highborne — kaldorei of the old upper class that have lived in isolation for millennia. Other Highborne might seek an ally in one of their own, while many typical night elves have a poor opinion of the Highborne.
- Eldre'Thalas: Elves from the ancient Highborne city would likely have some passing familiarity with Syreithe Silverlight and her strange "school". They might even know about her odd, "witchy" twin sister…though Syreithe protectively kept prying eyes away from her.
- Martial Artist: Syreithe possesses mastery of hand-to-hand combat and many weapon styles. She has developed her own discipline, Daen Eluna'shei, which she has taught to a handful of other Highborne.
- Philosopher: Do you like to talk philosophy or spiritual matters? Syreithe will be more than happy to listen, and to talk your ear off about them.
The Path of Lunar Harmony
Daen Eluna'shei, or "the Path of Lunar Harmony", is both a philosophy and a martial art. Syreithe has developed it extensively over the millennia, but there are a handful of crucial tenets at its core.
- Show many faces — Change is the nature of Elune. She has a face for every being, presenting each with a visage to suit them. So, too, should we welcome difference and change, and cultivate many faces for them. This helps us to treat others with greater respect, as well as to better understand others. Some have seen this tenet as permission to lie, and in some ways they are correct. If a lie will bring harmony, it is permitted.
- Move with the tides — The world will never adjust itself for you. The tides will not recede to provide you a path. Harmony requires us to move with the cycles of the world, rather than against them. The path of least resistance is often the wisest one.
- Emotions are as the sea — Just as the sea is always in motion, so too are emotions always in flux. Let your feelings flow in and out like the tides. Emotions that flow out of harmony roil into a tempest; they are wild and nearly always cause unintended harm. When one storm meets another, one of them will always become stronger and more destructive. Surviving a storm requires a calm heart and a focused mind; balance the storm with restraint and discipline.
- Fear is a strong hand — Fear can hold one down, or push one forward. Understanding of this tenet comes with the realization that the hand is one's own.
- Vengeance is a backward sword — Daen Eluna'shei is about harmony with the world and with one's own spirit. Vengeance is inherently disharmonious. It is a "backsword sword", held by the blade. The tighter one grips it, the more harm is does to onself.
Daen Eluna'shei is a peaceful way, but its techniques are very capable of being employed to cause harm or death. This is not necessarily opposed to the teachings of the path. Peace is preferred, and violence is expected to be applied wisely to cause only as much damage as is necessary. But if maiming or killing is the only means of preventing worse harm (or, more importantly, disharmony), an Eluna'thero will not hesitate to put a swift end to the threat.
Weapons
Lunar Harmony teaches its students to fight unarmed, but also makes use of weapons when necessary; it especially focuses on staves, polearms, and fist weapons, but also one-handed swords, maces, and axes.
Appearance
Syreithe's slender frame belies a strength honed through years of disciplined training, her muscles toned and defined beneath the surface. She wears her long hair in a single braid, the strands an ethereal hue of teal standing out sharply against her pale skin.
She possesses a grace born from both her family's social status and her millennia of physical training. She radiates an aura of tranquility and inner calm, a testament to her mastery of the Path of Lunar Harmony.
Personality
Spiritual ⬥ Austere ⬥ Adaptable ⬥ Insecure
Syreithe is, at her core, a spiritual elf. She has great respect for the ethereal and for religious beliefs, even those she does not agree with. She is an ardent follower of Elune, but also prone to questioning everything. She does not believe that Elune provides anything for her children, and pities those who merely pray to the Moon Mother and expect divine intervention. Syreithe's perspective is that Elune is a teacher who shows mortals how to live and thrive through her very nature and how she interacts with the world. Elune is a goddess of change, and so too must kaldorei learn to embrace change and adapt to a world that is both cyclical and chaotic.
Syreithe is a paragon of rigorous self-discipline. She lives an ascetic life, eschewing the luxury and excess she was born to. She follows a strict moral code, and can often seem gravely serious, especially when facing spiritual or ethical matters. She has a playful side, though, believing firmly that inner harmony includes embracing the fun, joyful moments in life.
Underneath all her discipline and spirituality, Syreithe harbors deep insecurities. Being a twin can be difficult, and she constantly strives to set herself apart as an individual, rather than just one of a pair. As much as she loves her sister, she desperately craves validation as her own person with her own strengths (so much so that she developed an entire school of thought and martial arts of her own). Her insecurity can drive her to do good things, like play the hero…but maybe not always for the most benevolent reasons.
Romance
Syreithe can be romanced…but it's complicated.
Syreithe is focused on her discipline, and much of her life revolves around looking after and protecting her sister. Though she craves the kind of validation a lover might bring, she also struggles with her insecurities and feeling worthy of love. She isn't the easiest person to have a relationship with.
If Syreithe does have a shalan, then she would share this person with her sister, as they share a soul. …Awkward much?
History
Syreithe was born in the ancient and illustrious city of Eldre'Thalas. As the child of Highborne mages in the upper echelons of the nobility, her upbringing was steeped in the arcane arts, but her path diverged sharply from the norm when the cataclysmic events of the Great Sundering unfurled.
Syreithe was never alone, as she had a strong connection with her identical twin sister, Hespyth. Their bond went far beyond sibling love. They are a rare example of kalanore: twins who share a single soul.
Hespyth took to magic much more easily than Syreithe, to the point that Hespyth was extremely sensitive to arcane energies. As the world convulsed with magical upheaval caused by the Sundering, Hespyth's sensitivity grew unbearable for her. Syreithe stood as a helpless witness to her sister's descent into mental and emotional turmoil borne of the turbulent energies.
Seeing and feeling how the destabilization of magic in the world was tormenting Hespyth, Syreithe turned away from the arcane, now finding what was commonplace to be fearful and uncertain. This decision subjected her to ridicule and scorn from her peers, who saw her rejection of magic as cowardice. Syreithe tolerated the bullying at first, but when it was directed at Hespyth her anger boiled over and she began to lash out physically.
It was a difficult period for Syreithe, but still she refused to embrace the arcane. The harassment began an escalating conflict between her and her rivals, one she regularly came out the wrong side of. Still, the constant fights honed her reflexes and combat instincts, and she began some physical conditioning to get stronger.
It was through the guidance of Naleth, the captain of her mother's guard, that Syreithe found purpose and discipline. Naleth recognized Syreithe's strong will and potential, and began to impart her martial knowledge. Syreithe's dedication to her training not only honed her physical abilities but also brought a sense of inner calm amidst the chaos she felt through Hespyth.
Syreithe tried to convince her parents to let her serve in the house guard under Naleth, but they wouldn't have it. Not satisfied to live a noblewoman's life without purpose, she focused on her studies. She read books on other fighting styles of the kaldorei, but most of them involved the use of magic. This led her to the field of philosophy and she became hooked. Martial arts were a way to train her body, and here she had found a non-arcane way to train her mind.
Through her experience with social rejection and the introspection flourishing in her philosophical journey, Syreithe uncovered a profound empathy for the marginalized and downtrodden within her society — those without magic or other means to survive in the ruins of their former glory. She hated witnessing needless suffering, and here was a chance for her to shine and prove her worth. She earned a reputation as a defender of the weak and a provider for the less fortunate.
Throughout the passage of millennia, Syreithe remained steadfast in her devotion to Hespyth, ensuring her well-being even as the world changed around them. Over these thousands of years, Syreithe's martial and philosophical studies coalesced into a unique discipline, Daen Eluna'shei — the Path of Lunar Harmony, a testament to her commitment to balance and serenity in a world of constant upheaval.

Moondrop was the more adventurous of the two, and took to Syreithe's more active lifestyle. Her sibling, Flitwing, preferred the quiet solitude of being with Hespyth. Flit would seek out her Moondrop with messages from Hespyth to Syreithe, and occasionally vice versa if Syreithe could not immediately come herself. |
