RP Hooks

  • Gilnean Traveler: Are you also a Traveler? You're family! Non-Gilneans may look down on her with suspicion, though.
  • Bard: Sorraine's role in the world is to spread songs and stories. Sure, modern Azeroth has its fancy newspapers, magical mail, and gnomish communication devices. But none of those are half as entertaining as a minstrel!

Appearance

Sorraine is a young woman with striking red, curly hair that frames her face in vibrant, untamed waves. She has a light olive complexion covered in a sea of freckles. Her dark eyes are expressive, reflecting her curiosity and warmth.

Her attire is practical yet with a touch of elegance befitting a bard. Whatever she wears, she is always clad in shades of red, preferring to stand out in the color of passion to draw attention to herself. She favors a cape or cloak that allows for dramatic flourishes in her performances.

Personality

Curious ⬥ Indulgent ⬥ Humorous ⬥ Independent

Sorraine has a natural charm that makes her easy to talk to and laugh with. She’s genuinely interested in the stories and lives of others, always ready to lend an ear or offer a comforting word or song. More than a few of her songs are based on the stories of people she has encountered.

Though she usually only has a handful of coins in her pocket, Sorraine enjoys the luxuries life has to offer: fine wine, good food, a comfortable bed, and perhaps someone pretty to share it with. There are few vices she won't try at least once, and plenty she makes a regular habit of.

Like most Travelers, Sorraine is a free spirit. She values her independence and lives life on her own terms. She's perfectly willing to work with others, but finds the yoke of authority chafing and will not remain long in a situation where she feels confined.

History

Sorraine Riordan was born into the close-knit community of the Travelers, a group of people who held tightly to the ancient customs and traditions that their ancestors brought with them when they first settled in Gilneas. These customs, rich in music, storytelling, and a nomadic lifestyle, shaped Sorraine into the woman she has become. She became adept at playing various instruments, singing songs that recounted the history and legends of her people, and captivating audiences with her tales.

When the worgen curse swept through Gilneas, Sorraine’s life changed dramatically. Transformed into a worgen, she struggled to come to terms with her new form and the primal instincts that came with it. The Travelers, with their deep-rooted sense of community and resilience, stood by her side, helping her to adapt and find a new balance. At least, the few remaining did so, as her clan had suffered many losses to the curse and the Forsaken invasion.

With their homeland lost, her clan embraced their nomadic heritage, setting out to wander Azeroth with a mandate to search for long lost cousins. They sought to reconnect with those of their bloodline who had never settled Gilneas, or those who were cut off when the Greymane Wall sealed its gates.

Sorraine’s true passion, however, remained her music. She traveled from town to town, performing as a bard, bringing joy and entertainment to those who would listen. She reveled in music's power to bring people together, to share in the rich tapestry of her culture, and to momentarily lift the weight of the world.

Though she occasionally turned to thievery when times were hard, it was a role she took on out of necessity rather than desire. Sorraine preferred the simple pleasures of her bardic life, finding fulfillment in the smiles of her audience and the sense of continuity with the generations that had come before her.
