  • Famous Father: Captain Luc Valonforth was a renowned paladin of Lordaeron, and one of the leaders of the 1st Legion Expeditionary Force that followed Arthas Menethil to Lordaeron. He never returned from that expedition and is presumed dead. With no one to report on his actions in Northrend, there have been many questions about what he may have done under Arthas. His defenders point to his lifetime of honorable service, while the doubters are quick to point out that Arthas was once an honorable paladin as well.
  • Displaced Noble: House Valonforth was a noble family of Lordaeron, once holding a small fiefdom near Stratholme, with their family manor in the city itself. Like many Lordaeronian houses, they now reside in Stormwind. The loss of their lands impacted their fortunes significantly. Though still wealthy by common standards, the only real influence they have anymore is their good name, and even that has been tainted by questions about Luc Valonforth's allegiances.
  • Paladin: Sophiette's training as an initiate came to an end on January 5, Year 28. She is now a full-fledged paladin. Her ceremony was attended by Dara Tennerow and Sir Elohad Ference.
  • Argent Crusader: Sophiette is a recent recruit to the Argent Crusade.
  • The Undying: After she, Dara, Hugo, and Fionette were caught in Deathwing's flames in the Eastern Plaguelands, Sophiette's will and devotion were so strong that her soul found it's own way back to her body. Fionette later marveled at how rare a quality that was, and dubbed her 'Sophiette the Undying', an epithet that has begun to spread in the Argent Crusade.

Appearance

Sophiette stands proud in her gleaming armor adorned with the crest of House Valonforth. Her features exude an air of grace and nobility, her long butter blonde hair cascading down her back in a silken sheet. Her piercing gaze, framed by thick eyebrows, reflects a her steadfast determination and a deep well of compassion.

Her voice is raspy and she laughs easily. Even when she is serious or in battle, there is a lightness and larger-than-life quality to her speech, like a character from an operatic play or swashbuckling novel.

Lady Valonforth possesses an aristocratic poise, her slender frame accentuated, whether by her polished armor or the everyday finery of her station. Her thin lips often bear a gentle smile, providing a glimpse of warmth and kindness that lies beneath her resolute exterior.

Romance

History

Sophiette was born into House Valonforth, a small but highly regarded noble family of Lordaeron. From an early age, Sophiette knew that her true identity did not align with the gender assigned to her at birth, nor the name she was given: Lyonel. As a child, she tried to tell her parents she was a girl, but they dismissed it as childhood imagination.

For many years, she kept her feelings private, as her father seemed so proud to have a son to follow in his footsteps. She was even betrothed to another girl around her age: Dara Tennerow from Stormwind. Sophie and Dara got along well, and for a while Sophie convinced herself she could live a happy life as Dara's husband.

Sophiette's father, Captain Luc Valonforth, was a revered paladin who had served with honor and distinction in the 1st Legion of the Alliance. When the Scourge plague broke out in Lordaeron, Sophie and the rest of the family were sent to Stormwind for their safety. Meanwhile, Luc was serving under the command of Prince Arthas Menethil, and later helped to organize the 1st Legion's fateful expedition to Northrend. Though a body was never recovered, Captain Valonforth was presumed dead (with many questions about his actions under Arthas), leaving Sophiette to inherit his title.

A title is all that she inherited, though, as the Valonforth lands and most of their fortunes were lost to the Scourge. All the same, Sophiette wished to prove herself worthy of her father's legacy. Inspired by his heroism and guided by her own unwavering faith, Sophiette felt a deep calling to follow in her father's footsteps as a paladin.

The news of her Captain Valonforth's demise caused Sophiette to reevaluate a lot in her life. Not only did she feel the need to take up her father's mantle, but she also spent considerable time in introspection. The misery she felt over the loss of her father only compounded the doubts and self-loathing that had been plaguing her for years. With a view of how short and uncertain life could be, she knew she had to start being honest with herself.

Lyonel Valonforth was no more, and she began to live as her true self, formally adopting the name Sophiette. She dissolved the betrothal contract with Dara Tennerow, not wishing to bind her into a marriage to a house that was a mere shadow of its former self. All the same, she and Dara had become close over the years, and the sunset of their engagement did not end their friendship. In some ways their relationship became stronger without expectations laid upon them. Still, Sophiette knew she had put Dara in a difficult position, now needing to find herself a new fiance. Feeling responsible for her friend, Sophiette had a way of doting on her and being overprotective.

Sophiette strove to leave an indelible mark on Azeroth. Her journey was not just about finding her father's fate; it was a mission to inspire hope, acceptance, and love in a world that sorely needed it. With her indomitable spirit and her steadfast dedication to the Light, Sophiette aimed to be a guiding star for those who sought solace and a symbol of resilience for those facing their own trials.

Relationships

Dara Tennerow
We were betrothed as children when the Tennerows relocated to Lordaeron during the Redridge occupation by orcs. After my house's fortunes fell in the wake of the Scourge, I released Dara from the marriage contract; it would be unjust to me to keep her bound to a ruined house. We remained friends, but I think we both kept a deliberate distance after the dissolution of our betrothal. We became closer after she sought me out, needing a friend in the wake of a scandal. We've been finding our paths together, and those roads seem to be converging into one. We kissed and declared our love…but what happens next?
Sir Dane the Red
A simple man who has become a legend in his own lifetime. What's more, he's a fellow Stratholmian. I was fortunate enough to meet him when he answered the call to try to liberate Stratholme.
Sir Colson Aspenwood
I don't have much of a sense of the man, but I know his name as one of the great heroes of Cobalt Company. I was glad to have him with us in Stratholme.
Sir Elohad Ference
They say never meet your heroes, but Sir Elohad lives up to his legend. The kindness and grace he showed me when I sought his advice demonstrated he is every bit the man I believed him to be.
Mercy
I never imagined I would keep company with a death knight. But Mercy works with the Argent Crusade. The Sir Sevastyn Black even vouches for her. She isn't at all what I expect. A bit disturbing, to be sure, but she makes an unexpected effort to behave more…human.
Hugo Valonforth
Hugo was so young when Father…disappeared. In a way I envy him that he didn't experience the loss the same way as the rest of us. Then again, he's never really had a father in his life. I think I've filled that role to some degree. Perhaps even more so now that I've taken him on as my squire. I hope this is the right choice.
Kehda
We encountered this strange draenei when we were investigating the Scarlet Monastery. She was there seeking a mysterious artifact. Though she later claimed it was some kind of shapeshifting hat that belonged to the first human priestess of the Light. But she was citing some story I'd never heard of. I'm starting to think she just makes things up.
Lireen Cloudskimmer
We met Lireen at the Scarlet Monastery. She was there looking for some old martial training guides. More interesting, though, is that she is a trainer for Cobalt Company! She really showed her mettle, too. Despite her years, she is a formidable warrior. I certainly wouldn't want to cross steel with her.
Dame Lydia Harcourt
I was shocked to learn she is a former Scarlet Crusader. But from what I've seen of her, she is a true paladin of the Light and a woman of virtue. She hates what Balnazzar turned the Scarlet Brotherhood into. In her I see what they could have been.
Raschal
Raschal is the most unusual night elf I've met. He doesn't talk like the others at all. His moral compass is…difficult to read. All the same, he has never wavered in providing aid. I would not trust him with secrets, but I'm glad to have his blades on my side when our backs are to the wall.
Wisteria Herald
Of the people we encountered at the Scarlet Monastery, Wisteria was the oddest. Apparently she once called the monastery home as a priestess. But it seems that when the Scarlet Brotherhood split from the Hand and took over, she must not have gone along with it because they made her a prisoner. Disturbingly, somehow she has lost her connection to the Light, and can now only call upon the power of Shadow.

Sir Henri Valonforth

[[[character:|Sir Henri Valonforth]]]

Sir Henri Valonforth
Sophiette's uncle, whom she previously squired for. He was grievously injured in a fight with a dragon and lost the use of his legs.

[[image icons/icon_.jpg alt="" link="character:" link="#" width="90px"]]

Falric

[[[character:|Falric]]]

Falric
Sophiette's nemesis. The death knight that betrayed her father and likely killed him. She hunts him through Northrend with Dara.

Mount

Charity Charity
Sophie mostly trained Charity herself, the two having traveled together in the months leading up to Sophiette's certification as a paladin.
Gallant Gallant
After proving herself with the victory in Stratholme, the Argent Crusade gifted Sophiette with one of their prized hippogryphs.
