Any sailor might have had a run-in with Skylarke on the high seas. She's also been arrested several times, but no one's kept hold of her long enough to do anything permanent.
Anyone who frequents portside bars and houses of ill-repute might know her. She's flamboyant when she wants to be, and, on the surface at least, everyone is her friend.
Appearance
Skylarke is 5'7", lean, bronzed both by birth and by her time under the sun. She tends to wear clothes that emphasize the curves she has, so there's no doubt they're there. Her arms show hard strength from long hours at sea, and there's no gray in her midnight black hair. Her eyes are deep brown, almost black, and decorated with khol to make them even more mysterious and dark. Yes she does bother with rouge on her lips, emphasizing the fullness and the pout.
Captain on deck
Sky has one (visible) tattoo, a stylized P on the webbing between her thumb and forefinger that marks her as a pirate who was at least once set to swing for it.
Personality
Passionate - Adventurous - Optimistic - Principled
As far as anyone knows, Skylarke is both daring and deadly, the sort to steal your ship and offer a gallant shrug and a salute as she sails off with it. She's comfortable in low bars and other dens of ill-repute, but people claim to have seen her in more elegant settings as well. Surely that's incorrect.
She is an incorrigible flirt, witty and light on her verbal feet. If she's serious about anything, it's about her ship. THE ship. The Skylark. It's true that any ship she sails is temporarily dubbed the Skylark but there's only one real one, and she has an absolute passion for it.
A 2-masted brig, like the Skylark
This character is romanceable.
Skylarke is an irrepresible flirt, and isn't too picky about who she flirts with. Getting her to play at romance isn't a problem, getting her to be serious about it is. She will not be interested in anyone staid or prosaic; she will likely reject anyone who isn't as passionate as she is, even if they're not as flighty.
They have to love adventure as much as she does, or at least be willing to let her adventure while they go off and do their own thing. Anyone who romances her will have to have a full and complete life outside of her. She's not interested in anyone who's dependent or expects her to settle down. Though she is unlikely to acknowledge it, she does need someone to balance out her wild side. Anyone just as wild as she is could never be more than a fling, though likely a riotously fun fling.
History
Skylarke was a Westfall girl, a little bit of a thing, prone to wandering the unsafe lands. During one of her jaunts, a storm swept in from the sea, taking out an entire chunk of cliffside from the land. How she didn't die is unknown, but she was found and taken in by the crew of a ship. They were actually legal merchants but they might have had a small sideline in smuggling.
A young Westfall lass
Skylarke was raised on the ship as a cabin girl and a smuggler, her big dark eyes and soft black hair winning her past more than one otherwise wily portmaster. As she grew, she decided that smuggling wasn't enough. There was too much gold to be had in actually taking other merchant ships, and when she was old enough, she took over the ship and began a life of genteel piracy, as she calls it.
She was never one for all-out slaughter, and no assaults were permitted in her crew. They were, by and large, just in it for the fun and the money. She kept her crew small to help prevent infiltration, though as she lost ships and gained new ones, the makeup of the crew was rarely the same.
There is a story that one of her favorite ships is actually called The Skylark, a two-masted brig that she's managed to get ahold of but never keep. The ship itself has never been sunk, but came quite close during the upheaval of the elements prior to the cataclysm. Skylarke managed to get the ship into port, but not without significant damage. When the Fallon shipwright determined that the damage was a warped keel, Skylarke agreed to work for the Fallons for one year while the Skylark is being rebuilt using as much of the original material as possible. She's been given captaincy of The Tidewitch, the largest ship she's sailed yet.

Niksi
So this one time, I found a gnome and a turtle in the ocean. She became our resident tinkerer and repair-girl. She more than paid off her rescue at sea with her D.R.U.N.K. tank that let us bring up salvage from sunken ships! Sadly, she left after a year and a bit. |
