RP Hooks

• Stormwind: He's spent most of his life in Stormwind, so other characters may have met him there. He's very outgoing, and did not spend a lot of time around the rich and noble.

• Explorer's League: He regularly works for the Explorer's League, which he considers a source of amazing adventures.

Personality

Unselfconscious - Passionate - Generous - Reckless

Sil typically approaches life with enthusiasm and willingness, though his intent is sometimes stronger than his follow-through. Cobalt Company has been the first thing he's stuck with for a long period of time (3 years, at this point), and this unexpected dedication has started to shift his self-perception. He has always had the tendency to dive into things without worrying about success or failure, risk or benefits, but as the stakes of his decisions are getting higher, anxiety is starting to creep into his usual nonchalance.

In interpersonal situations, Sil likes to be able to make the people around him happy, and he does not like to see people being mistreated. Ideally, he likes to be a glue that holds groups together. However, in this era of high tensions and conflict, even his simple impulses towards generosity can backfire on him. Was this person supposed to be an enemy? Is it wrong to help that person? He usually just helps when help is needed, and lets the chips fall where they may.

While all of this together means that Sil is willing to go to war for the people he loves, war itself takes a heavy toll on him. More than even some of my 'softer' characters, Sil has strong stress responses to being in war situations. Even so, he will still spend that part of himself for others, for as long as it's needed.

This character can be romanced.

+ Romancing Sil

Sil is primarily (but not exclusively) interested in humans and various types of elves. While he has been known to pursue men, he most often is interested in women. He has a particular weakness for women who are hurt or in trouble in some way. He can be romanced casually and seriously.

Sil is not a particularly responsible casual partner, but he is relatively easy to seduce. He is not going to be the one to manage or set expectations or feelings, and will just kind of go with it. He is, however, sensitive to power differentials and careful of consent.

Sil keeps an eye out for potential serious romance. He would probably treat a partner with the high-born propriety he was taught as a young man, even if they'd had casual liaisons before. If he were to fall in love with someone, he would want marriage with them and (eventually) a family (could be adopted), and he would want a monogamous relationship.

Sil is likely to be attracted to people who are enthusiastic, adventurous, curious about the world and history, confident, interested in travel, and have an upbeat sense of humor. He would generally not be attracted for long to people who say they are not interested in him. He is also not likely to be interested in bullies or people who judge or rank others socially.

History

As the youngest son in a wealthy merchant family with aspirations of social climbing, he was raised with a kind of cruel carelessness. It was always clear that nothing was expected of him beyond falling in line and not embarrassing the family. He endured this atmosphere for as long as he could, and then he ran away to join the circus. Sil made his way through a series of short-lived professions, typically ending either because of some mistake on his part or due to his general restlessness.

+ Classic Vanilla

Sil joined Cobalt Company soon after it was founded, and so far it seems like Cobalt might be the thing to stick. He wasn't squad material in these early days, but he forged close friendships with fellow Cobalt members, hosted a weekly pub night with his friend Ben, and got involved in the Explorer's League. During this time period, he changed his surname (disowning his family), and - together with Cobalt friends Ben and Mizzy - brought down his family's reputation and company.

+ Burning Crusade

When the Dark Portal reopened, Sil was promoted to be on one of the forward squads. Unfortunately, he missed the summons due to some unexpected drama surrounding his sister's escape from prison. He was left behind and demoted.

When possible, Sil did pass through into Outland and rejoined the Cobalt efforts, apologizing for his misstep. He worked tirelessly with Ben and Mizzy and also assisted the Explorer's League in the area. He was eventually given another chance to work on a forward squad in Terokkar and then Shadowmoon Valley. Sil bought a sturdy draenei-made tent in this time period and spent considerable time camping in Nagrand. This is also when he met Aze, while spending time on the Scryer's Tier.

Sil fought in the Battle of Light's Hope Chapel and suffered an acute stress response to the terror of the battle against a horrific and massively outnumbering undead force. This instilled in him a terror of death knights and an aversion to large scale warfare. Despite this, he was determined to stick by his friends, and he went with them for the assault of the Black Temple that resulted in Illidan's death. As focus switched to the Sunwell, Sil stepped back and spent his time camping in Nagrand.

+ Wrath of the Lich King

When the call came to head to Northrend, Sil felt he had to go with the Company, despite the fact that he was still a little fragile from Light's Hope. He was on the Northspear, headed to the Howling Fjord. In the early days of the campaign, he took it on himself to write a company newsletter for the team at the Howling Fjord, and he handed this duty back to the Captain when the two Cobalt teams reunited in the Dragonblight.

Sil floundered a little, looking for a place he fit in the Northrend campaign. He mostly helped around the camps, helped out where he could (like the rescue of Jenzelle and Brendol at Voldrune) and assisted the Explorer's League at their digsites. After the death of a 7th Legion scout, in the absence of a way to easily get a qualified replacement, Sil contracted with Captain Tyrrell's expeditionary unit. This work lasted until the Wrathgate, which tore the unit apart, killing several members and leaving the rest called back to Stormwind to be reformed. The Wrathgate ripped open emotional wounds in Sil that had not yet fully healed, and he left to go camping alone in Sholazar Basin.

It was Aze who sought him out there and knocked him back into shape, insisting that he move to Dalaran and give himself time to heal around other people. He lived there until the Nightmare War - he himself was not drawn into Nightmare, and he did not answer Malfurion's call. Instead, he went to Wintergarde to keep his old friends in the 7th Legion from sleep-killing their comrades.

It was there that he met Vice Admiral Fallon, who ended up contracting him to join the Fleet for the duration of the Northrend campaign. To his surprise, Fallon intended for him to fight alongside death knights. With some trepidation and more courage, Sil agreed, and he fought together with the Ebon Blade and the Fleet against first the Scarlet Onslaught and then the kvaldir.

After this, there was a call from the Explorer's League to enter Ulduar, and Sil took leave to answer. Within Ulduar, he assisted in freeing Thorim, helped slay the Old God Yogg-Saron, and helped to persuade Algalon to spare Azeroth from re-origination. Sil returned to the Fleet while others pushed into Icecrown and killed the Lich King.

+ Cataclysm

After the conclusion of the Northrend campaign, Sil took his little tent and camped in Elwynn Forest, rather than try to find a place in an overcrowded Stormwind. This worked well until Deathwing emerged, destroying part of Stormwind and causing earthquakes and other disasters throughout the land. Sil immediately joined the aid effort in Elwynn, and he moved in with Dane and Ivrianna Atley in the chaos.

This state of affairs remained until the squad that had been drawn under the sea by kraken were rescued, and Sil was warlock summoned out to the fleet to see his recovered friends and to help against the naga. From here, he started traveling between Elwynn and the sea, and also got involved in the Graufowl murder investigation. It was during this time period that he also began to court Cressidha Aspenwood, a long-time acquaintance with whom he had a slowly growing friendship.

When the Earthen Ring called Cobalt to assist with rebuilding the World Pillar in Deepholm, the Plane of Earth, Sil traveled there along with Cressidha, who was assigned to the strike team. He did what he could to help around the Temple of Earth, and later was promoted to join the strike team.

Close Friends

Aze	Aze A sin'dorei woman I tried to help in Shattrath, when I met her in a bad state. I didn't realize how enduring a friendship I was building, or how very complicated her life was. She's a bit like a beloved stray cat that wanders in and out of my life unexpectedly.

Sir Atley

Sir Atley Good friend by now, though I used to worry about earning his regard. Lived at his place for a while after the Cataclysm, and he's been my team leader in Deepholm.

Ben	Ben One of my first and best friends in Cobalt. Not enough room to mention all the time we spent together. Our paths diverged a little bit when he got married, turned into a noble, and started really excelling in war/battle situations, but I'll always think of him as a brother.

Cole	Cole A close friend. Not as stoic as he seems, good sense of humor. Also done a number of missions together, and currently on the team together in Deepholm.

Cressidha

Cressidha I've been on squad with her in Outland, and again on a team together in Deepholm. I've always admired her, and that deepened into a different sort of admiration recently. We're officially courting, so we'll see how that goes.

Lord Ference

Lord Ference Founded the company, super impressive veteran who fought in a bunch of wars. I admire the hell out of him. He does not like that I'm friendly with blood elves. We were on squad together in Outland, and he's Ben's adopted father.

Mizzy

Mizzy She and Ben and I have been a bit of a friend trio, before and after she and Ben fell in love. She's got a heart of gold and a spine of steel, and she's so much more than her family ever thought she was.

Ivri	Ivri She's a real kidder and a flirt. Fun to be around. She does not think I ought to be in SI:7, for my own good. I spent a lot of time staying with her and Dane and Karson after the Cataclysm, starting to think of them as family.

Mordecai

Mordecai A friend, really comforting guy. Married to Cole. Reliable healer.

Ben's Aunt Nir

Ben's Aunt Nir Intimidating. Her eyebrows are scary. I know her through Ben, of course, and also because she was one of the original Cobalt lieutenants, before she and Sir Ference got married and had a kid. Great alchemist, too.

Friends

Alysson

Alysson He's not all that bright but he's a well-meaning guy. Real happy he joined Cobalt. We rescued Jenzelle and Brendol from Voldrune together. He came to my book club at least once.

Lord Arric

Lord Arric A friendly Kul Tiran guy I've spoken with at HQ and parties and such. Helped me to keep Rozalin safe during the murder investigation.

Auralind

Auralind Stern woman I've known for years now. Very picky about elf stuff, but I don't think she disapproves of me. We were on squad together in Outland. Not on a team together in Deepholm, but we brushed elbows there.

Azizia

Azizia We've hung out at Bruuk's, and I've worked by her side on missions and briefly on squad in Zul'drak. We've exchanged Winter Veil presents for a few years. I really like the decorative daggers - I think she liked the horn ornaments.

Bertrand

Bertrand 7th Legion scout, like I was, so he helped show me the ropes. We also both helped in the Graufowl murder case.

Brannagen Stillwall

Brannagen Stillwall Erstwhile mentor in the Explorer's League, now a friend. I gave him new tools and gloves with grip for Winter Veil in Year 27. He came to my book club, and he was involved with the team in Deepholm for a while when I was there.

Estel

Estel Went into blackrock mountain after Princess Moira with her, and we've talked casually sometimes, like at Bruuk's and parties. Also, she helped with the rescue of Jenzelle and Brendol at Voldrune.

Halliday Bristow

Halliday Bristow Odd but super impressive mage. A friend. First met when doing work in southern Kalimdor.

Jenzelle

Jenzelle A friendly priestess, always willing to help folk in trouble. Knew her from Bruuk's, rescued her from Voldrune, and we've been out horseback riding together. She seems sweet on Brendol.

Cap'n Jo

Cap'n Jo My captain! Also, easy to get her to make stuff for you. Love my tiny captain.

Lena	Lena A friend, but I get she's from a really different background than I am. Lordaeronian, you know? Sometimes I think she keeps me at arm's length because of it.

Oranna Stormbreaker

Oranna Stormbreaker Book club pal, and we stormed Blackrock together. Most recently we helped the earthen in Deepholm together. She's an expert on dwarves and earthen and sieges.

Rissa

Rissa She's real sweet. We're friends! We were very affectionate friends. Haven't seen her much since the Northrend campaign.

Rozalin

Rozalin A pub friend, but then I got involved in the investigation of the murder of her parents. She's a little rough around the edges, but I think she's a good sort.

Sandy I like him and his child-like enthusiasm. We were on squad together, and he's given me a Mysterious Greatfather Winter present before.

Siamus

Siamus I met him in Wintergarde. It sort of seemed like we were gonna hook up, but then I joined his fleet instead. We've talked some since.

Sintha We met originally at Bruuk's, but she's also the one who helped me pull myself together in Wintergarde after Wrathgate. For my part, I consider her a friend.
