RP Hooks

  • Student in Lordaeron: Vond grew up as a city dweller in Stratholme, and received a quality education through the Church of Light.
  • Not Quite Silver Hand: Older members of the Hand or its offshoots likely knew of Vond's father, North. His mother, Anissa, was a riflewoman in the Second War before setting to raise her family.
  • Darnassian Happenstance: Given its timing at a formative point, Vond has very idyllic notions and vivid memories of Teldrassil.
  • LHC combatant: potentially recognizable by someone who was present at the battle.
  • Cure for What Plagues You: Vond was assigned to cleanse plague immediately after gaining capacity to do so following the Death Knight attack.

Appearance

A sturdy human wearing either thinly-rimmed eyeglasses, or else fitted goggles that maintain fixedness when undergoing the sort of activities expected of a typical Argent Dawn shieldsman. His posture is firm-planted and resolute, with the springy ease of a man maturing into his prime and taking for granted how naturally all the gawky green pieces had begun to seal into place. He tends to lean toward his right side.

There are some vestiges of youth's fullness in his face still, pulled at with lines of tension. Despite a solidly strong constitution, he comes across as someone who couldn't hurt a fly, perhaps not reaching the standard ideal of a paladin's inspiring presence.

Personality

His basic attitude is largely one of cordial bewilderment that at times cedes to an alert reticence, cagey and survival-minded. May display shifting moods, grim and spare, or keyed up and passionate, that sometimes follow from current conditions, and sometimes not. "A little intense," usually earnest, playful or sarcastic side when more relaxed, but heightened vigilance that borders on paranoia other times.

The injuries and losses of the Battle of Light's Hope Chapel, and some other setbacks, have damaged the confidence he was beginning to develop as a young paladin maturing into effectiveness, but they have also narrowly focused his determination. Thrives most in demanding conditions or in the Light's physical presence in battle, but struggles with finding a balance once it departs, or in downtime.

Mixed Accent: His speech reflects a pastiche of influences on a Lordaeronian core.

Flicker: Channeled Light flashes unevenly in his hands like a guttering candle, or only briefly when absorbing impacts.

Jumpy: Startles quietly but easily. Will not keep a door to his back for long.

History

Vond lived his early years in Stratholme, the son of a Silver Hand paladin, and generally expected to follow in those footsteps. He was in his mid teens, not yet ordained and empowered, at the outbreak of the Third War. Neither elder nor younger Satterly accompanied Jaina's expedition to Kalimdor, instead remaining in the fallen kingdom through the organizational lurches among its survivors.

When the Argent Dawn was finally established, and Teldrassil grown, father and son traveled for the purpose of aiding the establishment of the Dawn's Darnassus branch, living there for the span of about a year. Vond returned to the Plaguelands thereafter to seek further training and mentorship, and a more active role in the Dawn's forces. There he has remained, aside from stints with their traveling units for plague containment and triage.

It is said that, while Vond was a very capable student of scripture and theory, he struggled to touch the Light throughout his time as an acolyte—at least until he didn't.

After several years as a combatant in the Plaguelands, Vond was critically wounded in the battle for Light's Hope Chapel. He survived with lingering trouble from delayed healing to nearly fatal injuries.

Every thought I take to heart is setting the stage of my future, a future bound with those of all the others holding on to hope. In that measure let speculation pass me by. Doubt may darken my door but it may not find lodging.

Nothing must prevent us from seeing this through. No blade, no night, no cold. No bitter memory nor promise of troubles to come. When death draws us in to its abode and says, "How far into the dark have you come. Now where is your refuge? Now where is the Light's holiest sanctuary?" Let us answer in full devotion to truth: "I am there, I am there, I am there."

Relationships

Confessor Etone Greennote
After Vond lost his squadmates in the attack on Light's Hope, leaving his future assignments uncertain, this Confessor saw to Vond's physical rehabilitation and took him on as a personal guard. After some rocky starts, they developed a devoted partnership both on the field and off. Vond finds himself buoyed by Etone's zeal, though they may be blind to some of each others faults and rely on each other too comprehensively.
Sister Anna Byrne
A serious holy paladin who trained and mentored Vond when he first joined active service with the Argents. She finds him promising but frustrating, and is lately taking the reins of organizing a squad to employ Vond and Etone, along with some others more effectively.
Vindicator Erixa
A Vindicator who has been a valuable voice at Argent-Cobalt paladin meetings after initially discussing the potential for them with Vond. She doesn't make assumptions despite her age and experience (and others interest in such), bringing thoughtful topics and considerations of how the differing traditions align.
Sir Ference
The father figure Vond wishes he had. Ever since he found out about Cobalt Company's extensive work in the Plaguelands, and even accompanied Elohad on some regular on the ground exorcisms in pursuit of Dame Clay's charger, Vond has found him personable and admirable, and he worries he could disappoint him somehow. Has still shown support of Argent-Cobalt paladin meetings even though he has greatly increased responsibilities to Stormwind now.
Aszera Sunstrike
First showed up at Light's Trust as a friend of Kit's, Vond was initially very worried by her story and particular circumstances. However he had his opinions turned by her answers to his needling questions and especially by her consistent showing as a skilled fighter for the Argent Crusade while keeping a strong handle on her 'problem.' He was touched when she showed up to check on him just as a friend. Trusted as a comrade against the Scourge.
Brother Ben Hazan
A lieutenant for Cobalt Company who is about Vond's age only taller and with his life way more together who 'touched the Light' more recently. Vond was very moved by his written account of the Battle of Light's Hope Chapel, and has tried to offer some words of faith and encouragement in his better moments. Vond thinks his work in Zul'drak and extended stays in the Stand prove Ben is the real deal, and Vond is secretly a little self conscious about Ben's accomplishments and interplanetary travel.
Roper Sunstrike
An Ebon Blade member that Vond seemed to mistake for someone else and tried to end the unlife of once, thinking he was doing everyone involved a merciful good deed (Roper did not agree). Vond doesn't seem to remember the incident well if at all for some reason, and they both worked on a rescue mission in Voldrune. That and Roper's hand in helping bring about Argent-Ebon joint training have given Vond pause and notice, but he still finds Roper's personality suspicious and death knight company in general trying.
Syarra Sunstrike
Another Ebon Blade member that Vond and Etone treated as a threat in the wake of Light's Hope, but later has shown serious consistency in developing living allies, and even took a terrible blow meant for Dame Clay. Vond reluctantly finds her more approachable than Roper, possibly due to her history as a paladin.
Dame Clay, "Brie"
Vond gained some comeraderie with a couple of Cobalt paladins in the course of aiding Dame Clay in procuring a charger, which involved a lot of tasks for the Church in Stormwind. Vond is impressed with her service with the Argents, but alarmed by her willingness to risk her life for a death knight ally, since she is a valuable healer.
Captain Jocoza Sparkwire
The Captain of Cobalt Company, who Vond thinks is earnest and practical. He has sought her out to deliver information about the Argent situation and request the aid of the company, and they have delivered very significanty, especially in Zul'drak. Vond believes she can make similarly sound decisions for Icecrown.
Sir Atley
A knight with Cobalt Company who is a bit older than Vond and gave him a number of good impressions then cooperated with at Voldrune. Vond is curious about him and respects his contributions so far in Northrend, as well as his steady hand with leadership and combat.
Sister Ace
Vond first met Ace while passing information to Cobalt, and later heard of her contributions in Zul'drak, so he considers her an interested and active part of the campaign. Hearing of Ace and others having to grapple with the aftermath of the Wrathgate prompted Vond to suggest starting up Argent-Cobalt paladin meetings to keep in contact and bolster resolve.
Velrin Silverbloom
A Sentinel who Vond is aware of for her affiliation with Cobalt Company, and pleased with her part in organizing a Sentinel and Silver Covenant joint mission in Zul'drak.
Kitharian du Lac
Vond knows of her as another capable paladin fighting for Cobalt Company and the Argent Crusade both, and someone else who has received guidance from Sevastyn Black. She also kind of brought in a demon hunter and asked if we can keep her…
Lena Coit
A Cobalt member who helpfully allowed the Confessor to examine her after hearing things at the Whispering Gulch, lending further evidence about the nature of Saronite.
Silvestre Silentstep
A friendly Cobalt member close in age to Vond who he wishes he knew better. Respected for aiding in the rescues at Voldrune which saved the life of an Argent, and doing a lot of work on the ground in Zul'drak - more real deal material.
Colson Aspenwood
Only briefly met, Vond is happy with this paladin putting in work in Zul'drak, but is also very curious about him, because he seemed to vanish elsewhere in between missions, and has not gone to any Argent-Cobalt paladin meetings. Vond has some biased assumptions about his status as nobility, and neither of them are aware that Colson possibly saved Vond's life at the Battle of Light's Hope Chapel.
Mordecai Aspenwood
A Cobalt priest who Vond thinks is oddly timid, but has come to paladin meetings before and seems sincere about his support role. Vond is curious about his relationship with Colson as he navigates his own attachment to a fellow Light-user.
Caspis Silvershade
A Cobalt druid who had some interesting information about the history of Vordrassil, lending more confirmation about the nature of saronite. He served on a Cobalt squad extensively in Zul'drak, earning a lot of Argent respect, even if he may not know it.
Paluuva
A Cobalt Lieutenant who has been present at some information meetings with Vond and Etone, offering thoughts on the nature of saronite and the breakdown of Drakkari relations. Vond does not know her well as other duties have kept her off the field lately, but he recognizes her as someone potentially integral in Cobalt Company.
Ralaea
One of the Cobalt Company members who was present at the Battle for Light's Hope, for which Vond holds ongoing gratitude. She also experienced voices at the Whispering Gulch, presumably from the seams of saronite exposed there. Hmm… isn't there something else a little familiar about her?
Cressidha Aspenwood
Vond has not made her direct acquaintance but has learned through the grapevine about her service on a Cobalt squad in Zul'drak, and that she is Colson's sister.
Lireen
Vond does not know her too well, but met her in a moment of downtime in Howling Fjord with Sil, which was a bright spot of reprieve in the fresh air. Then he saw her attending to a Zul'drak skirmish with Velrin and Dane, so definitely in his good books.
Kaela Mondragon
A formiddable enemy death knight who held an Argent and Cobalt member captive. Vond faced one of her teammates directly and considers them all dangerous Scourge to be eliminated if possible, but has been struggling with his stress response to death knights.
Desinae Raugh
A Templar of similar age as Vond, these two share a long history and a close but turbulent bond.
Merenel Hartvigsen
The frontline priestess once taught and consoled younger charges at Hearthglen before the Argent/Scarlet schism. A close confidant of Vond's since his mid teens.
Sevastyn Black
A respected role model, said to have been key in putting Vond back on an even keel in his early service when the Light's empowerment left him what might charitably called disjointed.
