Appearance

Sarandis is a kaldorei woman with faintly pinkish skin, silver eyes and dark green hair. She usually keeps it tied back to keep it out of the way. She's physically fit, thanks to the rigorous training routine of the Sentinels.

She tends towards more utilitarian clothing, well-maintained but simple. She does not typically wear jewelry, cosmetics or other ornamentation, though she has no scorn for those who do.

These days, one of her most noticed physical traits is a burn scar that extends over most of her right cheek and down her neck. Since she is generally clothed, the extent of the scarring past that point is not clear.

Personality

Sarandis has always been a warrior who lived a rather spare life by choice, and the Battle at Mount Hyjal only strengthened these tendencies. She is deeply loyal to the kaldorei people, and to the Sentinels, though she has had to step down from active duty. These days, she is also easily startled or thrown into a panic, but she is trying to find her way back to her previous level of calm.

Sarandis would be a slow, healing romance.

She has had a number of lingering problems in her life, including Hyjal as well as her latest partner going rogue with Fandral Staghelm. She does not trust her own judgment in romance, and would therefore be hesitant to fully trust her heart with a new partner. She has never met her shalan.

Sarandis would be attracted to someone who was patient, affectionate but not too affectionate, compassionate, and quiet. She would not be attracted to someone who is charismatic, flashy, impatient, or demanding.

History

Sarandis is a little over a thousand years old, so relatively young for a kaldorei. She has spent most of that time as a Sentinel, serving the kaldorei people. As a Sentinel, she was quiet, competent, and protective of her sisters, though she never rose to a position of leadership.

Within the past century, she caught the eye of an older druid, Cerelar Dawnshadow. He pursued her with patience and affection, and Sarandis found herself a little overwhelmed but not displeased with the attention. This grew into a genuine loving relationship, and they had a daughter together, Florande Wildbloom.

However, trouble was on the horizon. Sarandis fought at the Battle for Mount Hyjal, where she saw many of her sisters brutally slain by demons and where she herself was burned badly enough to leave permanent scarring before the healers could attend to her.

She retreated home to heal, and… she found that healing was difficult. She worked through physical therapy for the damage to her body, but the damage to her heart lingered. This is when she found out that her partner was not very good at handling long-term emotional healing. Cerelar was impatient that she was not bouncing back to be the same person she was before, and he eventually distanced himself from her. The slow end of their relationship became a sharp cut for Sarandis, when Cerelar did not protect their daughter during the War for the Nightmare.

+ Cataclysm

Shortly before the Cataclysm, Sarandis ventured back into active Sentinel duty. Almost immediately after, orcs started slaughtering Sentinels in Ashenvale in brutal ways. Sarandis was dismayed, and backed out again. At her daughter's urging, she applied to Cobalt Company, on the logic that she could recover her skills in a more permissive atmosphere.

Within Cobalt Company, she ended up as a member of a team that called itself the Cobalt Aegis, including two Highborne (Hespyth and Syreithe), the daughter of a deceased friend (Kaladris) and a draenei (Qelida). With their support and Syreithe's philosophy lessons, Sarandis has faced many dangers in Darkshore and slowly found her courage again.

During much of this time, her daughter Florande was lost undersea and her ex-mate Cerelar was kept out of reach in rehabilitation in Moonglade. Her daughter is now returned, but Cerelar remains locked away.

Anareline

Anareline An intimidating older woman who bore two children to Sarandis's ex-mate Cerelar Dawnshadow centuries ago. Cerelar did not inform Sarandis about any of this, until their own daughter Florande began to uncover the information on her own.

Florande Florande is her daughter, a baffling free-spirited girl who chafes against her mother's careful, orderly tendencies.

Hespyth A shy but friendly Highborne mage. She is accustomed to being called a mad witch, but Sarandis does not think she is either of these things. She is highly sensitive to magic, and her soul is shared with her twin, Syreithe.

Kaladris

Kaladris The daughter of a Sentinel friend of Sarandis's who was killed in action. An inhabitant of Auberdine, and part of the Cobalt Aegis after the city's tragic destruction by the Cataclysm.

Qelida

Qelida A very practical draenei shaman. Her expertise has been invaluable in dealing with the tumult in Darkshore after the Cataclysm, and Sarandis values her straightforwardness.

Syreithe

Syreithe A warrior and shared-soul twin to Hespyth. Sarandis has chosen to be a student of her Path of Lunar Harmony, in her own efforts to heal her mind and soul.

Aitne The enthusiastic leader of an archaeology team that Sarandis has tentatively joined. She is very professional and knowledgeable, but keeps a skeletal creature as a kind of pet.

Atley A gruff member of the Archaeology team. His air is that of a soldier.
