- Alliance Army: If you were at Hyjal, you might have come across Sabitha in the camps or doing mundane chores around. This is also true of anyone serving in Alliance armies during the entirety of the Third War. Certainly anyone familiar with Mordecai's unit will know of her, and possibly have been friends with Zeke.
- Stormwind: It's also possible someone knows Sabitha or her family from their trips into Stormwind or the more frequent ones into Goldshire.
- Westfall: Someone may know Zeke's family, the Lamberts, from Westfall.
Appearance
Sabitha is 5'3" tall and curvy. Think farmer's daughter with childbearing hips and you'll get the idea. She has dark hair that's thick and shoulder-length with very little actual styling to it. Her eyes are warm green, like summer leaves on a shaded tree, and they seem darkened still more with old pain. Prominent cheekbones and a squared jaw give her a determined look, something that belies the softness of her body. She usually speaks quietly, and has a warm alto voice.
Personality
Sabitha tends to be calm and rational, on the practical side of things. She's not unaccustomed to hard work and will pitch in to help at any given task, whether or not help has been requested. She does tease and laugh, though her jokes are mostly dry and subtle. Sabitha is confident and quiet and may give off the impression of someone at peace with herself, something that does not negate the air of soft sorrow she carries. When not actively engaged in a task or in conversation, she often seems as if she's not truly present at all, looking elsewhere or elsewhen.
History
Sabitha was born and raised on a small farm in Elwynn, barring occasional runs to safety as something or other raged across Azeroth from time to time. The farm was subsistence-level surviving at its most bucolic; chickens and a couple of goats for meat, milk, and eggs, and a vegetable garden saw to most of the family's needs. They would sell bread and eggs in Goldshire to pay for things they could not supply themselves and, once Sabitha was older and could look after her younger brother, sometimes the family would make the trek to Stormwind to trade in the furs and skins her parents brought in. These trips were especially profitable during the reconstruction, and the family suppported themselves nicely.
During one of those trips, a teenaged Sabitha met a young soldier named Ezekiel Lambert. Zeke was funny, affable, he liked everyone and most people liked him back. No one would have called Zeke handsome, however, and it was with some bemusement that others, both in his unit and not, watched their friend pay quite successful court to the lovely farmgirl.
At the start of the Third War, Zeke was transferred to a different unit and was sent from one end of the Eastern Kingdoms to the other. As they were leaving on their first deployment, Zeke abruptly asked Sabitha to marry him. Less than five minutes later and thanks to the company priest, they were married on the march out of the city. As his unit traveled, Sabitha Lambert sometimes accompanied the troops in the small community of camp followers. She would help with cooking, laundry, and in the infirmary to some degree.
When the armies went to Hyjal, Sabitha insisted on going with them, though Zeke tried to convince her to remain behind. Even in the camps, everyone was kept busy helping with the wounded, making meals the soldiers could eat on the run, making arrows, sharpening blades. During the final evacuation of Hyjal, Sabitha was yanked to the infirmary and to the side of her dying husband. Zeke had been extracted, but only after suffering mortal wounds on the battlefield. With so many wounded to treat, the priests were not in time to save him, and though they attempted to resurrect him, they were unable to do so.
Sabitha, in her grief and rage, opened herself to the void. She hated everyone left alive, hated to hear their cheers of victory, and would have killed anyone near her (and probably herself) but for the intervention of the unit's healer, a young priest named Mordecai. He was able to break through the tentacles of dark energy that writhed around her, and through her grief and anger long enough for another priest to seize control of her mind and send her to sleep.
Since Hyjal, she has lived with the warlocks of Stormwind. In the early years, she refused all training and insisted that her use of magic had been a one-time thing. She was left to grieve for a time, but it eventually became apparent even to Sabitha that though she might refuse to acknowledge the shadows, they were all too aware of her. Though her studies truly began in earnest two years ago, it is only recently that she has gained enough control to be permitted out on her own.
Relationships
|
|
Ezekiel Lambert
Husband, deceased |
|
|
Mordecai Aspenwood
Though they did not remain in contact, Sabitha remembers Moredcai well from Zeke's unit, and with gratitude for saving her from herself. She's delighted to be reunited with him, and to have the chance to get to know him better. |
|
|
Ben Hazan
Mr. Hazan was first a friend simply because he knew Zeke. Sabitha hopes to find a path for them to be friends just because they become friends. |
|
|
Lena Coit
At first, Sabitha assumed she'd be the more powerful, more learned of the two with more spells. But she's found out that doesn't matter. Lena's got more wary intelligence than Sabitha has, and she's more than worth listening to. Mentor and friend. |
