Appearance
Adult gnome but young adult, about 3'3" with slanted blue eyes, gnome-pink hair, and a spatter of freckles across her nose and upper cheekbones. Her body suggests someone who used to be sedentary but is burning off those curves.
Personality
As she moves on from the loss of Gnomeregan and the acquisition of her warlock powers, Penlee's real personality has surfaced. She takes great pride in anything she does and dislikes admitting when she needs help with anything. Fortunately, she never seems to be in a hurry, and applies this same patience to learning new skills. There is a lingering fragility to her, however. Whether it's come from so much loss or was always a fault ready to fracture with the proper application of pressure, it's hard to say.
History
She is the only remaining person of a large family of jewelry designers and gem cutters from Gnomeregan. Artists are not exactly valued in technology-focused Gnomeregan and while it wouldn't be correct to say they were outcasts, they also weren't a family of any importance despite their monetary wealth. When Gnomeregan was irradiated, all the Gnomes were supposed to be in their homes but Penlee and her work crew were trapped in the workshop by a trogg attack. Penlee vowed she would see her crew out safely, and to do so made a pact with the Shadow. She no longer remembers what her part of the promise was. She only knows at the start of the day, she was a gem cutter and by the end of it, she was a warlock.
Months after she became a warlock, she began showing signs of growing annoyance with what she felt was a general disdain of gnomes, claiming that the other races were building themselves up on Gnomish ingenuity while dismissing Gnomes themselves as nothing more than cute little cheerful people. She never crossed entirely into spouting ideas of Gnomish superiority, but did want to begin a movement that would put more gnomes into positions of authority where they could advance their race.
Additionally, Penlee's warlock studies progressed in fits and starts. She would show no progress for weeks, then abruptly master spells that had previously been beyond her. She retreated from society almost entirely, only returning to the Warlocks of Ironforge to demand they acknowledge her power with increasing ranks. She disdained the Warlocks of Stormwind entirely, as they are mostly human.
It soon became clear that Penlee was no longer entirely in control of herself, and that something else was looking out of her eyes.
Officially, Penlee simply disappeared, the way so many adventurers do. Perhaps she had been killed by ogres or had fallen off a cliff somewhere. High-level Warlocks in Ironforge and Stormwind know better. They cannot afford to have any out of control warlocks loose on Azeroth, and they took steps to address the Penlee Dazzlecut Situation.
