- Orachi: Paluuva is an orachi — the draenei word for "teacher". She has been teaching draenei children since the exodus from Argus. Are you one of her former pupils?
- Archivist: Paluuva is an historian with deep knowledge of many cultures of Outland, Azeroth, and beyond. Deep some insight into another culture, she might be able to help.
- Linguist: Paluuva is fluent in Draenei, Orcish, and Common, and conversant in countless other languages. She picks up new tongues with relative ease.
- Ambassador: Her gift for understanding languages and cultures has long made Paluuva valuable as a diplomat for the draenei when dealing with other peoples. The Alliance has come to appreciate her talents as well and made her a formal ambassador.
- Mystic Scribe: Her gift for and love of language made Paluuva and natural for the art of mystical inscription. She is talented at producing magic scrolls, glyphs, and related written materials. (See what Paluuva can create here.)
- Sibling?: Paluuva's brother and sister may or may not have remained behind on Argus or joined her on the Genedar; this has been left deliberately vague for the time being.
Appearance
Paluuva is tall and slender, with skin like a blue sky on a clear day, and steel blue hair surrounding her gently curved horns. A long tail swishes gracefully behind her, adorned with simple rings common to draenei, and one small one carved of bone. She favors flattering dresses and robes, but always with plenty of pocket space or extra satchels to carry her various books, scrolls, and research materials.
She has a calm stillness about her, and tends to move with slow, deliberate action, always studying her environment and circumstances before making a decision on how to proceed…sometimes to her detriment.
Paluuva's soft, velvety voice carries a draenei accent, though it is less pronounced than most draenei and her command of other languages is exceptional.
Personality
Inquisitive ⬥ Even-Tempered ⬥ Fastidious ⬥ Forgiving
Paluuva values knowledge and education above all else. Her philosophy is, "Knowledge opens the door to wisdom." She has seen how a lack of knowledge, or misinformation, can lead to devastating decisions.
A devout follower of the Light, Paluuva has a deep-seated faith in the guidance of the naaru and the Prophet Velen. Part of that faith is her certainty in the power of redemption and forgiveness.
Romance
History
Paluuva was born on Argus, in a small agricultural village called Nalador. She grew up happy with her mother, father, sister, and brother. It was clear to her parents early on that she had a mind that would take her beyond their simple life, and they encouraged her education in any way they could.
At the urging of her parents, Paluuva moved to Eredath for her education. She swallowed up every bit of knowledge she could, from mathematics, to science, to history, to the arts. She particularly idolized her history teacher, an archivist, and by her third year of schooling in Eredath she had decided to follow in her footsteps.
Paluuva was still a young woman, not yet an adult, when Sargeras came to Argus. She watched as so many of her people were swept up in the religious fervor stirred up by Archimonde and Kil'jaeden…including her parents. But she and many of her fellow students were skeptical, heeding the warnings of Velen, and when the time came they joined him on the Genedar to escape from Argus. Paluuva had begged her family to come with her, but her parents refused to believe that Kil'jaeden and Archimonde could be deceived, and were convinced their people were entering a new golden age. Heartbroken, Paluuva left them behind.
Paluuva grew into a woman on the Genedar, learning the ways of the Light from the naaru and becoming an anchorite. She continued her education, using the archives of lore the newly-dubbed draenei —"exiled ones"—had brought with them. In time she found her calling as a teacher, much like her own mentor, and especially took to filling the minds of the young. New generations were being born that had never even set foot on Argus, and it was her duty to pass on their history and traditions to ensure their culture survived the coming ages.
Every world and culture the draenei touched was an entire new trove of knowledge for Paluuva to explore. Though she rarely had much opportunity to learn much of great depth before the draenei were forced to move on, harried by the Burning Legion. Only when they arrived on the world they would call Draenor did she have the chance to truly study other cultures the way she had always wanted to. The orcs, ogres, arakkoa, and other species of Draenor were endlessly fascinating to her and she would often be called upon to serve as a translator and cultural expert in dealings with these other races.
That expertise would keep Paluuva alive when the Burning Legion finally came. When the orcs were corrupted and began to enslave and slaughter the draenei, the Shadowmoon orc that captured her recognized her from long before and knew her value as an interpreter and lorekeeper. He advised his chief to keep her alive as a slave and put her mind to use for the clan's benefit.
When the Alliance Expeditionary Force arrived to confiscate Nerzhul's artifacts, they inadvertently freed Paluuva in the chaos and she was able to escape. It would be years before she had the chance to show her gratitude to these "Sons of Lothar", when she encountered them again in Shattrath City after the closing of the Dark Portal and the shattering of Draenor into the fractured world of Outland. She studied with their scholars, sharing knowledge of her people and Draenor, and in turn learning about the wondrous history and cultures of Azeroth. These aliens fascinated her, and she spent as much time as could with them, archiving their stories to ensure they would never be forgotten in Outland.
When the blood elves arrived to take Tempest Keep, Paluuva had been studying there. Once again she was forced to flee with her people, this time aboard the Exodar in its flight to Azeroth. Her sleep pod malfunctioned in the crash, leaving her in stasis for over a month longer than most of the other draenei. When she awakened, she found that her memories were foggy and somewhat scrambled. Though she mostly recovered them, she still sometimes found that things she once recalled with perfect clarity seemed to be just out of reach, as if through a thick mist.
Paluuva resumed her role as a teacher, caring for the draenei young. But Paluuva sensed that more awaits her on Azeroth. Surely, the Light did not place her in the path of Azerothian scholars before sending her to their homeworld without some purpose. She merely needs to discover what that purpose is.
Relationships
Azizia Zizi was always an irrepressible girl, and is no surprise to me that she continues to me so now. Apparently she has established herself as a designer of clothing fashions. She has quite the eye. I should avail myself of her talents.
Nesselos One of my pupils on Draenor and cousin to Erixa. He was one of the brightest and most open minded children I taught. I have always had high hopes for him.
Nunuzac One of my pupils from the Genedar. I am pleased beyond words to see that her inextinguishable light of joy still shines bright.
Erixa One of my former pupils from the Genedar. We have recently reconnected and I find myself impressed at the strong and confident woman she has become.
Animal Companions
Aaklan Before the rise of the Horde, Aaklan carried Paluuva all over Draenor in her role as a teacher and ambassador. She sent Aaklan to flee to the wild before she was taken captive. Only recently has she discovered that he made his way safely back to Nagrand, and eventually the Kurenai took him in to care for the obviously domesticated talbuk. Paluuva has now been reunited with her old traveling companion. Aaklan's name is derived from an archaic Draenei word for "Dependable".
Saevika As a member of the Aldor, Paluuva worked closely with the Shataari Skyguard for a time and became close with a particular trained nether ray. The Skyguard allowed the bonded pair to remain together as a reward for her service. Saevika's name could possibly be translated as either "Cloudbreaker" or "Fruity".
Oona When she bonded with Saevika, Paluuva sort of inherited Oona: a baby nether ray that Saevika had adopted after Oona's mother had been killed by the Skettis arakkoa.
