- Druid of the Claw: Thorn is a skilled druid and a master of the bear form. Other druids may know him by reputation.
- War of Shifting Sands: He fought against the Qiraji and Silithid 1000 years ago and has the scars to prove it. Nothing happened here that made him particularly famous, but he served well and with distinction.
- Eastern Kingdoms Expedition: Thorn has spent the last several years mainly in the Eastern Kingdoms tending to the lands there as the Circle has neglected them for so long.
Appearance
Thorn is a hulking beast of a man, standing over 7’8” tall and nearly half as wide. His body isn’t especially toned, but make no mistake, underneath that layer of cushion is a huge mass of muscle. His deep purple skin is marked all over with scars that he’s earned protecting the forests he calls home and his warm amber eyes betray his aptitude as a druid. His hair is the color of fresh leaves and he wears it loose, shaggy, and wild along with his long, bushy beard. He tends to dress rather simply, wearing pieces of leather and fur only further accentuating his already ursine appearance.
His bear form retains the scars he has in his humanoid form and has long, dark fur. His fur is smooth but hard and bristly, almost making him look as if he’s covered in quills.
Personality
Thorn is the very definition of a gentle giant. He may look large and imposing, but he’s always wearing a smile and has a soft and welcoming demeanor. Even his deep, booming voice manages to feel comforting. He has a very casual air about him and regards everyone (including superiors often much to their chagrin) as if they are an old friend. He is someone who is very easy to get along with unless one gets hung up on his lack of formality.
His skill as a druid of the claw has rubbed onto his mannerisms quite a bit. He has an incredibly keen sense of smell even in his humanoid form and he has a tendency to sniff about wherever he goes. He also gets very ferocious when he feels that he, or especially his friends or the land left in his charge is threatened and he quickly goes from his usual teddy-bear to a growling grizzly-bear.
This character can be romanced
Thorn is a friendly, casual romance.
He is interested in people of any gender, but has a strong preference for hot-headed women. Thorn is a very accepting person, so no race in particular would be beyond his notice, but he is only attracted to people he sees as mature and not just “little cubs”, meaning that in general, only people who are at least a few hundred years of age would be old enough for him, though preferably they’d be over 1000.
Thorn doesn’t place a ton of emphasis on platonic vs romantic relationships. He merely treats people well and if their hearts intertwine for a time, then even better. Relationships for him sort of come and go on whims. When he finds a friend appealing, he simply lets them know how he feels and if they feel the same, then great! If not, then he still has a friend in them. He’s quite casual about the whole thing.
In women, Thorn is attracted to people who are ferocious, passionate, temperamental, and territorial. In men, however, he is drawn to those who are mellow, compassionate, and have a good sense of humor. Things that he finds unappealing are people who are cruel, haughty, or apathetic.
Thorn is polyamorous and makes sure his partners understand that he will always hold them in his heart and hopes they can meet again, but that he cannot promise to stay by their side permanently.
Most relationships with Thorn will be casual ones. If one were determined enough, he could be convinced to commit to someone long term, but he normally just follows his heart wherever it leads him, and it does not always stay in the same place for long. Thorn is a supporting, but often aloof partner. He will always have a friend or partner’s back, but his attention has a tendency to come and go. This is partially why he likes intense women who demand his attention. He makes sure to stay on good terms with former lovers and often ends up back with them again after a time, but commitment is not a thing that comes naturally to him and he is very up front about that.
History
Thorn was born in Ashenvale forest and knew from a young age that he wanted to become a druid of the claw. Upon joining the Cenarion Circle, he quickly showed great aptitude for bear form and mastered it in no time at all.
His skill and warm personality made him a natural choice for group missions with his brothers and this is where Thorn met Arravas Duskwing. He and the druid of the talon, along with his mate Tenniria Silverbloom, became fast friends and spent time together whenever they got the chance. The trio even fought alongside one another during the War of Shifting Sands. However, this would not be the same for the Third War.
When Tyrande and Malfurion came to awaken the druids of the claw during the Third War to help fight back the Burning Legion’s return, Thorn was one of the few left behind to tend to the dream. When he awoke, it was to learn that his two best friends had been killed and their daughter, whom he had not yet been able to meet, orphaned. It was sad news to him, to be sure, but he didn’t let it make him lose heart. It was all part of nature’s balance, as cruel as it often might be.
Recently, Thorn has found himself wandering the Eastern Kingdoms in the lands of his new comrades in the Alliance, attempting to spread the influence of the Cenarion Circle beyond the Kaldorei’s borders.
