  • Army Service: Mordecai worked for years as a chaplain in the Alliance army. He was present at the battle of Mt. Hyjal, a medic at the infirmary in Theramore, and spent time in Warsong Gulch.
  • Healer: If you're hurt, he will heal you, no questions asked. He spent some time working at the Shattrath infirmary, and might be remembered as 'Doctor Mordecai' by the orphans and residents of the Lower City.
  • Baker: It's a hobby that Mordecai is reluctant to discuss.
  • Chaplain: Mordecai is available for funerals, weddings, and counseling.
  • Notable Battles: Mordecai was present when Lady Prestor's treachery was unveiled and helped defend Prince Anduin from her dragonkin. He fought against Dimensius the All-Devouring in Netherstorm. He was at the retaking of the Sunwell. He was part of the teams that went into Zul'Gurub, Blackrock Mountain (twice), and Naxxramas. He was present at the defeat of Malygos. He fought Nefarian in Blackrock Mountain. He fought Al'Akir in Skywall. He fought Murozond at the End Time, although this battle is less renowned.

Appearance

Mordecai is six feet tall, slender, and a little awkward. It is easy to startle him, and his occasional bouts of clumsiness can be attributed either to poor coordination or nervousness. Most of the time, he tries to draw as little attention to himself as possible, and he can be very quiet when he wants to be.

He has light skin, soft green eyes, and curly red hair that gets progressively more chaotic the longer he goes without combing it. There is a faint scattering of freckles across his face and shoulders.

He is soft-spoken but genuine, and deep sincerity is often audible in his voice, even when saying what might often sound like stock phrases coming from someone else. He has a beautiful, almost angelic-sounding singing voice.

Mordecai dresses primarily in robes when at work, some more elaborate than others. He is rarely seen without at least two extra rings in addition to his wedding ring, which is a moonstone, gold, and white-gold band set with tiny azure moonstone gems.

Personality

Soft ◆ Shy ◆ Faithful ◆ Insecure

Mordecai has a kind heart and a gentle spirit. He spent his childhood operating under the premise that 'children should be seen and not heard' and this behavior carried over well into adulthood. Mordecai spent most of his life controlled by fear and the need to give other people what they want or risk the consequences, which were often painful.

After a time of living in a safe environment, encouragement to speak his mind, and constant positive reinforcement, Mordecai has bloomed. He talks far more than he used to, particularly when around friends, and he is slowly becoming more comfortable being in public.

Mordecai is a deeply compassionate person, more likely to seek understanding than vengeance, and he is incredibly sentimental. His sincerity and interest in others will always shine through, particularly when dealing with his clients or patients. He is generally an honest person, although he can and will lie out of self-preservation, if necessary. He has been called a good listener, and an easy person to speak to.

In an infirmary, or when acting as a medical professional, Mordecai's demeanor changes a little. He is far more self-assured and calm, and he gives off the impression that he knows exactly what he is doing and everything will be all right if people just follow his instructions.

This character is in a monogamous marriage and cannot be romanced.

History

BIRTHDAY: NOVEMBER 11TH, YEAR 1

The fourth son of House Harbrooke. Stormwind nobility. Mordecai's family went to Lordaeron as refugees for a while, which changed absolutely nothing about the family lifestyle or expectations of the Harbrooke boys. His parents forced him into the priesthood when he was ten.

Mordecai joined the army as a chaplain when he was eighteen in an effort to get away from his family and avoid the engagement hanging over his head for as long as possible - he was betrothed to Lady Cressidha Aspenwood, who he had no particular interest in marrying. Mordecai's unit served at the battle of Mt. Hyjal during the Third War and then remained in Kalimdor afterwards. He was present during the building of Theramore.

He remained in the army longer than he was technically required to, and was eventually called back to the mainland by a letter from his fiancée.

Relationships

Colson Aspenwood
Mordecai's husband, paladin, and soulmate, if humans can have soulmates. To Mordecai, Colson represents safety and protection on the most fundamental level.
Cressidha Aspenwood
Colson's sister; Mordecai's sister-in-law. She makes them clothes. Occasionally a client.
Bennarin Hazan / Ben
Colson once told him that if anything should happen to him that he hoped Mordecai could go to Ben. Ben is Mordecai's friend, but he also represents safety on a level second only to Colson.
