Appearance

She is an elegant 5'7" tall, a slim figure who moves with an unconscious-seeming grace. Warm ivory skin, wild dark hair, and smoke-gray eyes lend her the look of some fairytale character — from one of the older, darker fairytales. She rarely smiles.

Personality

SELF-INTERESTED ⬥ DRIVEN ⬥ ADAPTIVE ⬥ FANTASIST

Miril Dionaea has been several different people in the course of her life, but all of them shared an iron will and a restless discontent with present circumstance. She is a survivor above all, but her endless, striving reinvention points at an inchoate goal that is forever just over the horizon. She is a fabulist who buys into her own mystique; tell the right stories often enough and you can make anyone believe them.

Including yourself.

History

If you were familiar with the clans of Gilnean Travelers two decades ago, you might have encountered a skinny, silent girl with wild black hair and strange, intent gray eyes named Maili McCarthy.

If you moved a decade ago in certain indulgent upper-class circles in Gilneas City, you might have encountered the bewitching smoke-eyed courtesan Miril Dionaea, one of Mrs. Underthorn's elegant young ladies.

If, somehow, you were a member of both these circles and noted a certain resemblance between Maili McCarthy and Miril Dionaea — the wild dark hair, the witchy gray gaze — you were no doubt sadly mistaken, as it is common knowledge among the Travelers that poor young Maili McCarthy was caught by a riptide and drowned off the rocky coast of western Gilneas in year 8, when she was barely twelve years old.

In the same year that poor Maili McCarthy drowned, a wild-haired girl called Millie Cairns arrived in Gilneas City and found work as a housemaid in a wealthy merchant's household. She spent two years in that position and then — now a demure young lady with a polished accent and practiced manners — took a post as a lady's maid in a noble house. She spent three years in that position and then vanished. Shortly thereafter, Mrs. Underthorn's House of Flowers introduced the alluring Miril Dionaea, whose poise, refined manners, and aura of mystery were rumored to be products of her secret noble birth and vague, tragic downfall.

Being a beguiling object of speculation is extremely profitable.

When Mrs. Underthorn hustled her girls to safety from the worgen curse, Miril Dionaea again disappeared. This time, though, when she re-emerged a few years later in Stormwind City it was under the same name; now an independent contractor, Miss Dionaea acquired a new, carefully-curated string of gentleman supporters in her new city.

She also — having learned yet another a hard lesson about survival — took a page from her former patroness, and began to spend considerable time at The Slaughtered Lamb.

She is 27 years old. She has been 27 years old every year since she was actually 27 years old.

Relationships

Mrs. Underthorn
Miril's former patroness, mistress of the House of Flowers: half-mother, half-manager, and an aspirational figure. Miril admires her ability to manipulate her disparate reputations, her resilience and determination, and, of course, her business acumen. Her decision to pursue a warlock's path is due to Mrs. Underthorn's influence.
