RP Hooks

  • Gilneas Architect: Merelda was an architect in Gilneas.
  • Gilnean Noble: The Veyne family is Gilnean nobility. She is the second child, oldest daughter.
  • Worgen: She fell to the worgen curse close to Year 28.

Appearance

Merelda generally attempts to appear to be a strict and proper noblewoman, except her curly red hair is constantly defying her intentions. The noblewoman persona may also sometimes be spoiled a bit by careless ink smudges on her hands and, occasionally, face. She's a little past thirty, with sharp blue-green eyes and an expressive face over which she has considerable control. She's of middling height and breadth, with a good figure for formal dresses.

Personality

Analytical - Responsible - Bold - Inquisitive

Merelda is the kind of person who likes to apply herself to problems, most often thus far architectural in nature. She has confidence in her abilities, and does not typically hesitate when she has chosen a path to follow. She has a strong sense of responsibility towards those she considers her people, though who fits in that group may be flexible.

This character can be romanced.

History

Merelda was born into a wealthy noble family in Gilneas, with an estate by the coast. As she grew up, she got all the education she wanted, and it turned out to be quite a lot. By the time she reached her majority, she was known as a talented young architect, this reputation perhaps eclipsing her marriage eligibility on the social scene. In any case, it was her older brother Wallas who would inherit the title of Lord Veyne, and Merelda was largely left to pursue her own enthusiasms.

As a young woman, she was involved in the design of the Greymane Wall, a project that she saw more as a fascinating architectural challenge rather than a political statement - until far too late.

Around this time, Merelda's mother handed over to her the responsibility to look after a young woman named Oslynn Boles on behalf of her cousin Zath Tyrrell. Merelda took this responsibility very seriously, seeking Oslynn out and trying to more or less take the unruly youngster under her wing (with the help of funds from A Mysterious Nobleman).

In Year 21, Merelda happened to be with a group of people near Lord Graves, who banded together in an attempt to survive the height of the danger from worgen within the Wall. Lord Graves was bitten, and most of the group survived and scattered. Lord Graves, now a feral worgen, still felt some responsibility to the group he had gathered, and thus he hunted them down one at a time to add them to his pack. Merelda was bitten and turned in Year 25, and spent the time from Classic Vanilla through Wrath of the Lich King as a feral worgen in a pack within Gilneas.

Relationships

Lord Graves
Pack leader. In old days, neighbor and well-mannered sometime-colleague. I declined his marriage proposal once, but what's a declined marriage proposal between colleagues?
Gabriella
Second in command of the Gravehowl Pack, and leading the group hunting feral worgen. In old days, a S.I. who I collaborated with in keeping Oslynn safe and relatively out of trouble.
Ozzy
A member of my pack. She was an orphaned teen I took on as a ward in Gilneas. I tried so hard to protect her, even from herself. I lied to her for years, and only recently explained the circumstances that led to my taking her in. She is something between a daughter and a sister to me.
Anselyn
A pack member who went missing for some time after we were recovered. Yseulde was very worried, but we found him eventually.
Ezekeal
One of the younger pack members. I tried to keep an eye on him, for his own good.
Gellarn
Pack member. He can be a rather intimidating figure, but he seems to mean well.
Apricity
Pack member. Often in trouble with pack leadership. He's a little more flippant than most would like.
Malcom
Another young pack member. Yes, he still is a pack member, despite his death in the invasion of Gilneas. We will hold him in our hearts until we see him again in the Shadowlands.
Thaniel
Pack member and a gentle, sweet soul. I have hope that he'll be able to garden peacefully in the future.
Yseulde
Pack member. Very worried about her brother, but we recovered him.
Kenelly
Not an original, but a pack member. A young noblewoman I knew in the old days, and supported to enter Gravehowl on the way to Darnassus. She is currently trying to build a support organization for worgen called HOWL.
