Appearance
A short gnome woman who appears to be somewhere in her middle years. Her dark hair is usually carefully tied up in twin buns, and her clothes often reflect her fondness for bright, sometimes mismatched, colors.
Personality
Inquisitive - Creative - Trusting - Practical
Captain Jocoza Sparkwire
Jo’s deepest drives are to be useful, to understand, and to create. Her keen intellect and intense curiosity about the natural and magical world have led her to become a talented engineer and somewhat eccentric mage. She dislikes inactivity and is drawn to puzzles and questions like a moth to flame. With a tendency to fixate on details, she does not always think through consequences of her actions or their influence on the bigger picture. Though she is very confident in her own abilities, she is not particularly interested by hierarchies, politics or the acquisition of power.
This character is unavailable for romance.
History
"When you're a sheep you'll be looking up at me."
Jo spent her early life happily and peacefully in Gnomeregan, coming of age and falling in love as a freelance tinker and an indifferent mage. The Second War, which occurred when she was a young adult, forced her to realize that her world was more fragile than she believed it to be. After volunteering in defense work during the Second War, she joined the reserve forces and trained as a combat mage. She rarely speaks in depth of the Trogg years, but the fall of Gnomeregan left her with nothing of her former life beyond a single backpack.
It was then that Elohad contacted her, offering a place in the Cobalt Company. She was a founding member and one of Elohad's lieutenants. When Elohad eventually married and learned he would soon have a new child, he asked her to take the reins of Captain. Jo was uncertain about taking on such responsibility, but has done her best to protect and guide the mercenaries of Cobalt Company into an uncertain, war-filled future.
In her personal life, Jo has many friends in many different organizations, even some in the Horde. She has an open and trusting heart, full of love that doesn't run out, so she is easy to befriend. She currently also has an official boyfriend, Kerlo Quarterflash of the 7th Legion, with whom she had slowly and tentatively been courting since Tadget introduced them back in Year 25.
Relationships
Aiseia They helped out at various dragonshrines and infiltrated pirates together. She's a squad member. |
Almeiria An unusual woman who assisted Jo's team in Scholomance. Jo thinks there's something off about her, but she's been a loyal ally. |
Dane Reliable friend and colleague, though he and Ivri fight sometimes. From her perspective, they respect each other as haunted veterans. |
Auralind One of her friends, specifically one she trusts to supply the caution and wariness that she lacks. |
Azizia They've been on a number of missions together. Jo also had to take her to task about her attitude. |
Sandy Jo sometimes worries about him getting in trouble, but tends to enable his weird ideas. She believes he has a good and pure heart, and that his demons may hurt him someday. |
Gethennis They have a scandalous star-crossed… friendship? They have so much in common, and surely it's not because Geth wants info about Cobalt from her! |
Timmet Tadget's little brother, who Jo started off disliking on account of how he'd treated his sister in the past. Also, she is very much not dating him. |
Gwenivene Her apprentice. Jo thought she had a lot of promise, and that her previous master was pretty much a jerk. The Kirin Tor agreed. |
Hex One of the original Cobalt members, and the first Jo ever lost (to an accident by the then-closed Dark Portal). She actually survived and Jo/others found her later, to much joy. |
Inkie Fellow gnome mercenary captain. Jo looks to her as a peer (or aspirant?) gnome, bouncing uncertainly between addressing her as a friend or as a professional rival. |
Iphindra They chatted at Bruuk's and have gone into Ahn'Qiraj together, and Jo invited her to be on a squad. |
Ivrianna Jo is very fond of and impressed by Ivri, and would speak well of her to anyone who asked. She trusts her without question. |
Jenzelle Jo is sympathetic to her situation, but insists that no one affiliated with the Scarlets be a part of Cobalt. Jenzelle chose Cobalt. |
Mordecai An excellent baker and healer, as well as company chaplain. Jo thinks of him as a friend, and maybe also someone to confide in. She sympathizes with his worry when Colson is on a mission. |
Nunuzac A highly trusted wandering Cobalt shaman, they've worked together from time to time. She commonly identifies missions for Cobalt to get involved in. They rescued Sandy together. |
Oranna A friend Jo sometimes confides in. Right now, Jo wants desperately to see her heal from her recent grief. |
Kerlo Tadget set her up on a blind date with him. They are now in love, and officially in a relationship. |
Rae Rae is more established in Cobalt now, and a fellow squad member. She still seems to have a lot of problems, but Jo is here for it. |
Raschal An elf she and CC helped rescue from a Silithid bug pod. She's rather fond of him, and he gives great hugs. |
Roper An Ebon Blade ally. While she treats them as allies, she is purposefully cold to the Ebon Blade. They are inherently dangerous, and a lot of people rely on her to keep them safe. |
Sev An Argent Crusade contact. She does not know him very well yet, but trusts him based on his history with Elo. |
Sidhanei Ambersong Jo's advisor on blue-dragon-related topics. Her manner sometimes makes Jo uneasy, but she values Sid as an ally. |
Sil A long-time Cobalt member, sometimes squad member. Jo has made a lot of clockwork mechanisms for his book club. |
Tibbiah A fellow gnome, who sadly learned about the fall of Gnomeregan after finally making in back from Outland. They've worked with the Consortium together. |
