Captain Jocoza Sparkwire

Jo’s deepest drives are to be useful, to understand, and to create. Her keen intellect and intense curiosity about the natural and magical world have led her to become a talented engineer and somewhat eccentric mage. She dislikes inactivity and is drawn to puzzles and questions like a moth to flame. With a tendency to fixate on details, she does not always think through consequences of her actions or their influence on the bigger picture. Though she is very confident in her own abilities, she is not particularly interested by hierarchies, politics or the acquisition of power.

This character is unavailable for romance.

History

Sheep_Jo_small.jpg
"When you're a sheep you'll be looking up at me."

Jo spent her early life happily and peacefully in Gnomeregan, coming of age and falling in love as a freelance tinker and an indifferent mage. The Second War, which occurred when she was a young adult, forced her to realize that her world was more fragile than she believed it to be. After volunteering in defense work during the Second War, she joined the reserve forces and trained as a combat mage. She rarely speaks in depth of the Trogg years, but the fall of Gnomeregan left her with nothing of her former life beyond a single backpack.

It was then that Elohad contacted her, offering a place in the Cobalt Company. In her personal life, Jo has many friends in many different organizations, even some in the Horde. She has an open and trusting heart, full of love that doesn't run out, so she is easy to befriend. She is now married to Kerlo Quarterflash of the 7th Legion.

"Gnomance"

Classic Vanilla

She was a founding member and one of Elohad's lieutenants. She was a regular in squad all the way up to Scholomance and the opening of the Dark Portal. When Elohad eventually married Niris and learned he would soon have a new child, he asked her to take the reins of Captain. Jo was uncertain about taking on such responsibility, but did her best to protect and guide the mercenaries of Cobalt Company into an uncertain, war-filled future.

Burning Crusade

Jo went through the Dark Portal with the initial team, and continued to work on squad while serving as Captain. A particular anxiety of hers was Hexera, a founding Cobalt member who went missing shortly before the portal opening - she was eventually discovered in Netherstorm. She eventually stepped back from squad and spent more of her time managing from Shattrath, while taking part in many of the major military offensives.

Wrath of the Lich King

Jo establishes a satellite HQ in Dalaran and continues to work from there on management of the now worlds-spanning Cobalt Company, though she does return to the field for squad work for a season in the Dragonblight. Jo struggles with serving in a position that means she cannot make everyone happy, especially in the heart of a brutal war with constant backstabbing by the Horde. She befriends dragons at the Wyrmrest Temple and mages in Dalaran, and takes part in most major offensives. During this time, she and Kerlo begin to date seriously.

Cataclysm

Jo makes it safely through the Cataclysm, and spends considerable time trying to track down missing Cobalt members. The company has casualties. There is a long period of time of disaster relief, during which Jo and the other officers organize a few new teams to help out in Westfall and Darkshore. Jo and the other officers send squads to Tol Barad (which ends up on the bottom of the sea, but luckily recoverable) and Mount Hyjal. Jo becomes engaged to Kerlo via gnomish puzzle-box poetry.

Relationships

Kerlo
Her fiance. They are determined to find happiness together, despite the danger and tumult of the world.
Elohad
Her oldest friend friend, met during the Second War. Elohad convinced her to join Cobalt Company, which has become her life and her family. Now he is one of her lieutenants as well.

Ben

Ben
Elohad's adopted son, with whom she has been through many battles and hardships. She brought him back to life with jumper cables in the depths of the Scholomance. Jo loves Ben as if he were her own adopted family.
Colson
A paladin who joined Cobalt after his military service, and a person Jo has come to see as a reliable friend.
Gwenivene
Her apprentice, now and always. Jo thought she had a lot of promise, and that her previous master was pretty much a jerk. The Kirin Tor agreed. She is so proud of all that Gwen has accomplished, and hopes they never lose touch.
Mordecai
An excellent baker and healer, as well as company chaplain. Jo has confided in him, and offered comfort in turn, when he was worried about Colson out on Cobalt business. He is important to her.
Ivrianna
Jo is aware that Ivrianna likes killing people, and she loves her anyway. She's known Ivri since she first joined Cobalt and SI:7, and trusts her without question.
Dane
Dane has been a reliable cornerstone of the Company from the very beginning, and one she feels a deep kinship with as a haunted veteran.
Oranna
Another member of the 'old guard' of Cobalt, and a friend through the early days. They used to speak more than they do now, to Jo's regret. Oranna struggled with aspects of being a mercenary, and now struggles with grief. Jo dearly wants to help her find her way to happiness again.
Tadget
May seem unlikely on the surface, but one of her best friends. Their friendship has lasted through good times and bad, and Jo adores her.
