RP Hooks
- Eldre'Thalas: If you are from that ill-fated city, you would remember the warrior Syreithe Silverlight's witchy, half-mythical twin, more a rumor than a fact after the first millenium or so thanks to Syreithe's eternal guarding.
- Dragons: Do you like dragons? Hespyth wants to talk to you if that's all right. Do you like blue dragons? Hespyth definitely wants to talk to you. But if you don't want to that's okay. Are you a dragon? Hespyth wants to genuflect to you. Please let her.
- Magic: Please talk about magic with Hespyth. And listen to her talk about magic, and then listen to her apologize for talking so much about magic. And then talk some more about magic with her through the door she closed to hyperventilate behind.
Appearance
Hespyth's slender frame is frail and waiflike. She wears her hair unbound or partially braided, the strands an ethereal cyan/teal hue standing out sharply against her pale skin. At a distance she gives an impression of otherworldly beauty, serenity, and grace. Closer up, one notices a darting, hypervigilant gaze, fingernails bitten to the quick, and superficial wounds on lips nibbled at too vigorously.
She favors loose, comfortable clothing of fine-woven fabric, and if there is no pressing reason to clothe herself, she favors wearing nothing at all. The reason for this is likely obvious - those who have been around her will notice constant fidgeting with collars and cuffs; she seems irritated by almost anything that touches her skin.
Personality
Nervous ⬥ Hypersensitive ⬥ Dreamy ⬥ Reverent
The world is harder on Hespyth than most; it seems everything is turned up to ten times the volume for her. She flinches at moderate sounds, cringes when first stepping into light even most night elves find tolerable. To make matters worse, she is a perennial worrier, highly strung and fearful. She is certainly not the stuff that most heroes are made of. But three things allow her to join the Good Fight:
First, her deep and abiding reverence for Elune, magic, and the dragonflights (particularly the blue flight) compels her to action. Her own suffering is small in comparison to those things she worships and adores. Second, she has a vivid imagination, and can often take refuge in fantasies and daydreams, a comforting cocoon against reality. Last but not least, she shares a soul with her twin sister Syreithe. Syreithe serves as her shield and protector when Hespyth's meager inner resources fail her.
Quirks:
- Often repeats certain words or phrases from other people's utterances softly to herself.
- Tugs at her ears when stressed.
- Bites her nails when nervous, which is a lot. Her nails are a mess.
This Character Can Be Romanced…?
History
Hespyth was born in the ancient and illustrious city of Eldre'Thalas. As the child of Highborne mages in the upper echelons of the nobility, her upbringing was steeped in the arcane arts, but her path diverged sharply from the norm when the cataclysmic events of the Great Sundering unfurled.
Hespyth was never alone, as she had a strong connection with her identical twin sister, Syreithe. Their bond went far beyond sibling love. They are a rare example of kalanore: twins who share a single soul.
Hespyth took to magic much more easily than Syreithe, to the point that Hespyth was extremely sensitive to arcane energies. As the world convulsed with magical upheaval caused by the Sundering, Hespyth's sensitivity grew unbearable for her. Syreithe stood as a helpless witness to her sister's descent into mental and emotional turmoil borne of the turbulent energies.
Hespyth became a hermit, retreating into her own private corner of the ruined city, with only her sister's visits to break up her profound, self-imposed isolation. For millennia she practiced magic alone, muttering to herself, a strange echo of the shattered Aspect himself. As her spellcasting became less and less orthodox over the millennia, she became seen as a "witch" to be avoided.
And then Malygos died. Released at last from the echoes of his madness through the corridors of the ley lines, Hespyth began thinking with relative clarity for the first time. She could feel that the magic of Azeroth had been cleansed and scoured, felt its trembling newness and vulnerability, and knew that she had to find a way to be part of its renewal.
Her timid but persistent avenues of research led her to a beautifully named group of people from all races, who had helped put a merciful end to Malygos and had supported the best of the blue dragonflight through all of its recent turmoil: Cobalt Company.
Relationships
Syreithe Hespyth's twin. Bodyguard, sister, savior, and the only person around whom Hespyth is completely comfortable. Easily told apart from her despite their shared face, because of how drastically their lives have diverged over the millennia.
Draenei A beautiful, confident draenei who has taken to organizing the new Cobalt Company recruits in Kalimdor. Hespyth trusts her but finds her intimidating. It's not yet certain if she's courageous or reckless, but she's clearly very intelligent.
Hat A kind kaldorei in a hat who was especially friendly to Hespyth in Darkshore. She has a beautiful singing voice and a good sense of humor. She seems very insightful. Hespyth is very relieved that she didn't die when she jumped into a whirlpool after the draenei.
Scars An intimidating woman who doesn't seem to like magic much, especially fire. Probably because she was burned so badly. She seems very serious and not particularly friendly, but she's willing to do the jobs that Hespyth can't even watch, and for that Hespyth is grateful.
