Appearance

Human: Gellarn is a broad man of just shy of 5'10", strongly muscled and with a heavy set, and a thick neck, squared jaw, and military short trimmed dark blond hair. His eyes have always had a bit of a peculiar hue to them, shifting from golden brown to almost dark greenish in some lights. He has a wide mouth and nose. He might have a naturally intimidating look, but he seems to keep a perpetual friendly look on his face, maybe intentionally, a sense of a smile even when he technically isn't. His fingers are blunt, a working man's hands. He keeps his voice lower, softer, and his accent seems to have been a choice to keep. When angry, he sounds like a blend of Gilnean and Lordaeron. Rarely seen out of armor, Gellarn is adorned with several tattoos: twisting black on his neck, two across his pectorals and upper arms, and one down the center of his chest and abdomen.

Worgen: Gellarn is a heavily muscled worgen, dark brown with a clipped mane stretching out along his head. His hands seem overlarge for his size, and the bulk of his legs ruins the slimmer silhouette many worgen possess. He is still awkward in the form, having had it for much less time, and spending the time he was feral in a cage.

Personality

Rough • Principled • Religious • Broad

ALIGNMENT: CHAOTIC GOOD

Gellarn is a man complicated loyalties, and a survivor. He has his rules that he sets for himself, and he abides by them religiously. In the matter of religion itself, he is devout — bordering on fanatical — to the traditional beliefs of the harvest witches, The Old Ways, but it's a very private matter, and he does not forward face his faith, though from time to time it will inevitably show. He acts friendly, and deliberately softens what might otherwise be an intimidating form, but inside he carries an anger like a fire slowly eating away at him. The cause of his rage may very well be what brought him home to Gilneas: the Alliance's priorities of country. But maybe he was simply born that way, with something in him that would always have been drawn to anger, just looking for a reason.

He tends to look big picture, and think in terms of overall, rather than in details. This can be great for large scale military endeavors, but terrible in managing his own personal life. Although he can seem committed to an extreme to his causes, at the end of the day, Gellarn will always choose to survive over any other loyalty or higher ideal; that is one of his principles.

History

BIRTHDAY: DECEMBER 2ND, YEAR 2

Born the middle son of a large and poor family, Gellarn learned early that even when you're wanted, you might be an inevitable burden. When his aunt, a former racing jockey, found employment with the wealthy and powerful House Esprit, his parents shipped him off to help her, giving him both opportunity and them relief from another mouth to feed. There, Gellarn distinguished himself enough to catch the attention of Sir Geoffrey Somer, the sworn knight of House Esprit, who took the young boy on as first a page, and then a squire, in the hopes that Gellarn would someday take his place as House Esprit's knight. This would have changed much of the circumstances of his own family, and Gellarn dedicated himself to it religiously.

However, after the events surrounding Alterac's dissolution and take over by Lordaeron, the youth grew enraged, and eventually abandoned his squireship to return to Gilneas to support the Wall being built, furious at the Alliance. He believed that this was the best way for Gilneas to survive, and he would stand by his family, ensuring that they did.

When the curse began, Gellarn was one of those whose horror was brief, and his sense of duty all too clear: it must be contained. Standing between those trying to leave or smuggle things out, Gellarn held the line for as long as he possibly could. But eventually, everyone's luck runs out, and Gellarn proved to be no exception.

Relationships

Lady Avrenne
The youngest daughter of House Esprit, and younger sister to Abrielle Esprit, the most beautiful woman in all the world, for whom Gellarn still holds a torch for despite her death. Avrenne herself was barely a noticeable blip on Gellarn's radar, independent and opinionated with rectangular features that held no appeal for the young man. Her House's knight trained Gellarn.
Lukas Rhenardt
When Gellarn returned to Gilneas, he looked for those leading in the right direction — that is, a direction of dedication to Gilneas rather than the Alliance, and Rhenardt's Irregulars were well known for their prowess. Gellarn fought and earned a place among them, lasting until the end, and he continued to hold the line of the Wall even after Rhenardt fell, carrying on his leader's imitative. Rhenardt was the first one of the group that changed, and carried on an initiative to Curse all those part of the initial crisis of Gilneas. Gellarn eventually was one of the only ones not turned, and with Gabriella, agreed to pose as bait to at last capture the feral worgen, but not before he lost the battle to avoid the Curse. Gellarn's feelings about Rhenardt are complex, but there's no denying that Lord Graves has the necessary command to keep the Gravehowl's in line.
Gabriella Thorne
The second-in-command of the Gravehowls, Gabriella is shrewd and cautious. She took over some of the leadership in the loss of Rhenardt to the Curse, but while she's blunt and direct, she lacks a community minded process, deep in her own independence. Capable, but she couldn't hold the leads for long.
Apricity Hearthleigh
One of Gellarn's frequent flirtations, and useful merchant connection. Apricity's flair for and draw to the Drama has kept Gellarn on his toes, but if there's one thing Gellarn appreciates it's a challenge to keep someone safe from their own potentially self-destructive tendencies.
Osylnn Gravehowl
One of the pack, an unruly young girl, prone to leaping — not just where she wills but also where she's ordered, making her unpredictable of when she'll push back and when she'll fall in line. For all that, since her Curse, she doesn't leave the pack when she thinks someone isn't following.
Ezekeal/Zeke
One of the younger crowd, and even cured, still feral enough that he seems less interested in a return to society as much as embracing his Curse. Has the certainty of youth in his own immorality.
Malcolm McPheerson
One of the youngest, a boy who sided with the rebellion. Loud, rambunctious, and childish. He's romanticized the feral life, to a worrying degree.
Merelda Veyne/Mary
Noblewoman who was unlucky or lucky to be caught in the pull of Rhenardt during the Crisis, and therefore targeted during the Curse Years. She speaks her mind often, which is useful. Not one for breaking off on her own, she prefers the middle of the pack.
Yseulde
Attaches to people who seem vulnerable, more likely to defend them than herself. Prefers an edge of the pack, looks for exits.
Thaniel
Healer, and young with it. Wants to save everyone, and doesn't pay attention to his surroundings when he does. Likes to be middle of the pack, but prone to darting off if someone's wounded. Protection detail is often taken up by someone, usually Yseulde or Oslynn.
