Appearance

Often, a large bear. Alternatively, a young night elf woman with rose-tinged skin and raggedly-cut green hair. She's often a bit dirty, with bits of leaves and brush in her hair and on her clothes, and prone to sporting random cuts and bruises. When not a bear, she carries her slender, muscular frame with an unconscious grace.

Personality

Forthright - Distractible - Softhearted - Rough

Florande has a wildness in her that she has not yet (in her mere twenty-three years) managed to outgrow. Though well-intentioned, she is prone to distraction, even from important tasks. She takes little care for her own appearance, not bothering to heal minor wounds or mend clothing tears, and simply hacking at her hair with a knife when it gets too long. She exhibits more care towards other people, and can be easily drawn in to help those who are suffering. She tends towards being open and blunt in communication, tempered only by her desire not to hurt people. Friends and conversational partners will generally never need wonder if she's holding something back.

This character can be romanced.

+ Romancing Florande

Florande is young and inexperienced and probably would struggle to understand the difference between a serious and a casual romantic relationship. Thus, she can only be romanced seriously.

She has never been in a romantic relationship before, and is kind of hazy on attraction, including what she might be into in terms of appearance, gender or even race. She is not going to handle romantic relationships in a mature way, and will not have skill at handling her emotions or arguments that might arise. Thus, there might be conflict involved, but of the resolvable kind. As the writer, I know that she'd be attracted only to people around her age bracket, and would not be limited by race (though a relationship with a shorter-lived race brings its own potential drama).

Florande is going to be attracted to people who are patient, adventurous and compassionate, and who don't mind a bit of a mess. She will not be attracted to people who are strict, demanding, cruel, or easily frustrated.

History

Florande is a very young adult for a kaldorei. Her father is a druid in the Cenarion Circle (Cerelar Dawnshadow), and her mother is a Sentinel (Sarandis Wildbloom). Her parents assumed she would follow in her mother's footsteps, but she lacked both the discipline and enthusiasm needed for that path. Instead, she spent most of her childhood attempting to sneak after her father, to learn more about the Circle.

She was a child during the Third War, and was protected as well as her parents could manage. Her father came through the war unscathed, but her mother was physically scarred by some kind of demonic fire and took harm to her soul that led her to leave active Sentinel duty indefinitely. It was after this that Florande was formally accepted as a druid.

+ Classic Vanilla

Florande's father didn't offer her as much guidance in the path of a druid as she would've liked, and Florande soon teamed up with another of her cohort, Elrissadel, to seek out their own learning. The two of them ended up claiming Caspis Silvershade as their shan'do (teacher). The two druids also joined Cobalt Company around this time.

It was through Caspis that Florande was set on the path to learning her father had a whole other family from centuries before. Florande sent a letter to her new half-brother Celaven and met her half-sister Cellara, as well as their mother, her… new friend?… Anareline.

Though Florande and Elrissadel were warned against Staghelm, they continued to assist the Cenarion Circle throughout the southern continents of Azeroth on a variety of missions.

+ Burning Crusade

Florande and Rissa didn't join the official Cobalt campaign into Outland, but they did travel there eventually to assist the Cenarion Expedition in Hellfire and Zangarmarsh.

+ Wrath of the Lich King

Caspis recommended Florande and Elrissadel for the Northrend expedition, as they were capable despite their youth. For a significant part of the campaign, Florande and Rissa stayed behind the frontlines, helping Alliance camps and the native peoples.

Here the two friends split up, with Florande developing a particular affinity for the Tuskarr. She spent much of Year 27 living amongst them, fishing, learning about their culture and spirituality. She spent months helping find a way to heal the arcane-damaged villagers of Indu'le. After meeting with some success, she went back to Darnassus to try to help her own mother who was still struggling with the aftermath of the battle of Hyjal.

While there, she was pulled into druid business, where she participated in dethroning Staghelm and defeating the Nightmare Lord. Her father stood by Staghelm, even though he nearly killed Florande. This was very distressing to Florande, but she is trying to turn her back on her father and find comfort with her new druid found family.

To that end, she moved to the Plaguelands and assisted in the rehabilitation effort there.

+ Cataclysm

Florande was delighted that she and the other Circle members met with such success in rehabilitating the Western Plaguelands. She continued to work there, assisting the Circle, the Argent Crusade, and the new settlers that were coming to claim the recovered farmlands. However, this went awry when the Forsaken brought an army of Val'kyr and took the city of Andhorhal.

Florande took the loss very personally and felt as though she did not have what it took to protect the land she had worked so hard to heal. To address this, she volunteered for a military mission to Tol Barad with Cobalt Company, where she planned to work on being a soldier. Their boat was destroyed by a kraken, and now she finds herself unexpectedly on the bottom of the sea.

Caspis

Caspis Shan'do, taught me about history. Also taught me a lot about my own life. I first met him at Uldaman, many things since then. He recommended me for the Northrend campaign. We fought the Nightmare and Staghelm together. I joined him to help heal the Plaguelands.

Rissa

Rissa Dear friend, we learned about druidism together after Hyjal. We traveled all over Azeroth for the Cenarion Circle together, Outland for the Cenarion Expedition, and then finally Northrend for Cobalt Company. She is busy now, since her home in Stormwind was destroyed by Deathwing.

Imrolane

Imrolane My shan'do's shan'do. Met her at Uldaman, saw her often at druid lessons. We fought the Nightmare and Staghelm together. We worked together for months in the Plaguelands, helping heal the land, settle the settlers, and then we lost Andorhal to the Forsaken.

Lode	Lode Friend from druid history lessons. Together with Caspis too, we learned about the origins of moonkin together. We fought the Nightmare and Staghelm together.

Linwel

Linwel Friend from druid history lessons. We fought the Nightmare and Staghelm together.

Thorn

Thorn A friend in the Circle, has helped in the Plaguelands when we were healing it. We fought the Nightmare and Staghelm together. He healed me when I almost died in the fight against Staghelm.

Wyriel

Wyriel I thought she was a druid at first, but actually she is a green dragon. She took me under her wing when we did all that fighting in the Emerald Dream. She is a good friend.

Yveris I learned about the fall of Shandaral with her, and freed loa spirits in Zul'aman.

Anareline My new half-siblings' mother. She and I spent time together in Northrend, both in Farshire and later in Zul'drak.

Celaven

Celaven My new half-brother. I worried he didn't like me, but I think he just felt overwhelmed when I contacted him. We get along well now, though we don't have all that much in common.

Cellara

Cellara My new half-sister. We share an interest in art, but take different approaches to it. I have spent lots of time hanging around her in Ashenvale. She is very stern and serious, but we are good sisters.

Sarandis

Sarandis My mother. She became very sad and anxious after the battle at Mount Hyjal. I think she is getting better now.

Velrin

Velrin I met her while she was on an important secret mission. Later, we freed loa spirits together in Zul'aman. She came to visit me once in Andorhal, before the Forsaken took it. She's my half-brother's mate, which makes her my… oh look a butterfly.
