- Forsaken: Euphoria was nobody outstanding in life. But she revels in being one of the Forsaken now. In her mind, they are a superior race.
Appearance
Euphoria used to look rather plain, average height with dark hair. Since her rebirth as one of the Forsaken, she is a horror to behold. One of the first things she did upon reanimation was to pluck out her own eyes, leaving only shadowy sockets (through which she has no trouble seeing). She stains the skin under them with ink or blood in a mockery of tears.
Her skin has rotted and turned blueish. The worst rot is around her lower face, leaving the bone of her jaw entirely exposed. She speaks with the lisp she always had in life, made worse by the current state of her mouth.
Personality
Euphoria used to be a soft-spoken, meek creature. That woman is gone. The undead Euphoria is fearless, even reckless. She revels in her power now, and finds delight in tormenting others. If they're lucky, she might simply enjoy their discomfort at her monstrous appearance. Many aren't so lucky, and suffer her cruelty in the form of torture, both psychological and physical, and typically a slow death if she has the time for it.
History
Euphoria Grimes was nobody special; the mousey wife of a butcher who used his physical strength to make clear who was the master of the house. She had neither the power nor the will to stand up to him…at least not until the Scourge came.
The land was being ravaged, people dying everywhere. It was plain to Euphoria that they wouldn't escape death; if the plague didn't take them, the undead would. Faced with oblivion, she felt a sense of relief. In the embrace of that strange comfort, she discovered her fear had melted away. She was doomed one way or another. So what more could her husband possibly do to her? On the other hand, there was much she could do to him.
Something broke inside her — maybe it was her chains. Nobody knew exactly what happened to Barth the butcher. People were too busy trying to flee the Scourge to witness Euphoria enjoying her last meal. Though had they seen it, they might wonder where all that new meat had come from.
Euphoria died with a full belly and ended up in a shallow grave in Silverpine Forest. Several years later, she unexpectedly woke up again, gazing into the masked face of a magnificent winged woman. She was surprised to still have her faculties, and soon learned she was one of the Forsaken. One of the chosen.
At last, she was special.
