RP Hooks

  • Stormwind House of Nobles: Lord Ference holds a seat on the House as of Year 27, and is known for making dramatic speeches and attempting to root out corruption.
  • Cobalt Company: If you've heard of Cobalt Company, you've heard of its founder, the very dramatic Lord/Sir Elohad Ference, the Enduring. He's big on PR.
  • Warlock Ethics Bureau: Along with his priestess wife, Elohad currently holds a position on the leadership board of the WEB, lending a paladin's perspective on the ethical use of fel magic.
  • Cobalt Players: Elo ran a well-known theatre company in Lordaeron between the second and third wars. He wrote most of Cobalt Company's plays and, before he started losing his hair in his late 20s, also starred in them. Many might remember his name from those times.

Appearance

A nice-looking, fair-haired, balding man in his mid forties with green eyes that are either dreamily abstracted or sharply focused, rarely anything in between. Just over six feet tall, lanky and lean but well muscled.

Personality

Caring • Dramatic • Strategic • Persistent

"Stormwind has the absolute worst system of government in any world anywhere. But uh, I am honored to be a part of it."

Elo is an easy man to love and trust, thanks to his warm, open-hearted demeanor and his track record of sound decision-making. He wears his heart on his sleeve, and so to some might appear fragile, but time has proven that nothing will break him.

At times, the combination of his strategic mind and his intense care for others can make him a bit manipulative, but it's always for your own good. He also loves the limelight, no matter how hard he tries to be humble.

In a Nutshell

Quirks:

  • Can see the colors blue and yellow with reasonable accuracy; everything else is a weird drab soup.
  • The corners of his eyes crinkle up when he smiles.
  • Tends to call younger women "sweetheart" in a dadly sort of way.
  • Tends to call younger men "son" whether they are or not.
  • Defaults to Dadding young folks, including youthful elves and draenei who are centuries older than him.
  • Is generally uncomfortable with PDA and sexy talk (unless alone with Niris).
  • Isn't mad, just disappointed.

History

Born to a noble family in Brightwood, Elohad fought in the first two wars and then retired from the military in Lordaeron in his late 20s to found a theater company. He reinlisted at 38 as a paladin trainee when the Scourge invaded, and while he was at war his estate and family were destroyed by the undead.

Soon after the climactic battle of Mount Hyjal, Elo was badly injured and sidelined; he ended up a beggar on the streets of Stormwind. When he learned that his younger brother Hogan was alive, he appealed to him for help, but as Hogan would only help Elo in exchange for being named heir to the title of Lord Ference, Elohad emphatically refused, keeping the title mostly for revenge on his unfeeling brother.

Unknown to him, his daughter had survived the Scourge, and they found each other. With some TLC from Elly, Elohad recovered and founded Cobalt Company, which rapidly rose to prominence by defeating Edwin Van Cleef's plot against Stormwind.

Elly eventually decided to take some time to find her own path without being chained to the trauma of her past, and father and daughter agreed to part ways for a time, knowing they'd always be there for each other when needed. Elohad remarried, settling down with his longtime friend Niris Hazan, and together they adopted her nephew Ben, who was alone in the world after a series of hardships.

The family experienced yet another unexpected development when Niris became pregnant. Though there were many worries about her and the baby's health due to her age, their son Dane was born with no complications… aside from the usual complications that come along with every pregnancy and new baby. Now that Elohad's family had a secure future, he began once again to take seriously his position as Lord Ference and redefine what that meant: protecting not only Brightwood but the Alliance as a whole, with Ben as his heir.

In Year 27, Ben convinced Elohad to apply for one of the open seats on the House of Nobles, and after some careful strategy and alliance-making, Elo was chosen for the seat. He continues to serve as a sort of HR Lieutenant for Cobalt Company, and has also agreed to help lead the Warlock Ethics Bureau after an incident in which a warlock murdered a sitting House member.

Relationships

Niris Ference
Friends since their meeting during the chaos of the First War a quarter-century ago, Niris and Elo became romantically involved several months after the Company's founding. Both in their forties with histories of unexpected loss behind them, they wasted no time in marrying while fortune favored them.
Ben Hazan
When he first joined Cobalt Company, Ben was Niris's estranged nephew, but he bonded quickly with both Niris and Elohad. Once they married, Elo and Nir decided to formalize their family by adopting Ben so that Ben could easily inherit after Elo passed on. Ben is a lieutenant and squad leader for Cobalt Company, Elohad's right hand man in all things.
Jo Sparkwire
Elo met Jo during the second war, when she used a mechanical squirrel to send for help from his unit. They remained friends, and she now leads Cobalt Company. The fact that he handed over his BABY to her tells you everything you need to know about his trust and respect for this one-of-a-kind gnome.
Auralind Mistwalker
Elohad saved her life during the third war, and they've been friends ever since. One of the founding lieutenants of Cobalt Company, she has since retired from that position, but frequently makes appearances on their elite squads.
Dane Atley
When they met, Dane was a half-starved boy caring for horses during the Second War. Dane followed Elo's career and many years later joined Cobalt Company. Elohad's love for Dane runs deep: he knighted him in service of Stormwind and named a son after him.
Paluuva
One of Cobalt Company's lieutenants, and a great help to Elohad.
Nesselos
Elohad brought Nesselos into Cobalt Company not long after the draenei joined the Alliance. Later they went on a mission together to try to discover the mysterious pre-Arthas history of the Lich King.
Therald Oakley
A guard who accompanied Elohad and Nesselos in their investigations of the Lich King's history.
