Eilanthe might be known to:
- Sentinels or former Sentinels
- Veterans of the Battle of Mt. Hyjal
- Queen Azshara's courtiers or mage loyalists from before the War of the Ancients
Appearance
Tall even by Kaldorei standards, Eilanthe is pale-skinned and has a hip length braid of frost-white hair. Her bone structure is prominent, almost gaunt, and her resting expression is cool and watchful.
The top half of her right ear has been jaggedly severed, and a livid rope of scar tissue snakes around her throat from just below her right ear toward her left collarbone. When she speaks, her voice is a harsh rasp just above a whisper.
Personality
FEARLESS * DISPASSIONATE * CALCULATING * HEDONISTIC
Eilanthe is a deadeye markswoman and a fierce and feral fighter, but outside of battle or the hunt, she takes nothing particularly seriously. She has a cat's calculating curiosity about the world, and a similarly feline fearlessness; she's also something of a provocateur, and has no qualms about prodding metaphorical hornets' nests to see what swarms out. Her sense of humor is dry and dark, and may not seem humorous to anyone but herself.
There was never question, though, of her dedication as a Sentinel, or her reliability as a sister-in-arms. Coolly comfortable with narrow chances and tempting fate herself, she would nonetheless never put a sister at risk.
This character is theoretically available for romance.
History
Eilanthe will tell you that she was born in Winterspring at the foot of Mt. Hyjal some 8,000 years ago, and was orphaned shortly thereafter; she has no memory of her parents. She will tell you that she joined the Sentinels when she was something like 1,000 years old, having spent the first part of her life roaming the wilderness largely alone. She will tell you that she is now a member of Cobalt Company. And she will only tell you any of the above if you speak Darnassian, because she will also tell you she does not speak Common.
None of the above is true. Well, the Cobalt Company part is. Sort of.
What is true is that for the last several thousand years, Eilanthe's chief devotion has been to her sister Sentinels. She has no history of outside attachments, no long-term relationships, and no living kin.
At the Battle of Mt. Hyjal, Eilanthe intervened to protect a human priest who had been cornered by a felguard; the felguard cut her throat. She survived the wound by a hair's breadth, and only because of the immediate and heroic efforts of that same priest to save her. Her voice has never fully recovered.
At the war's end, she left the Sentinels and vanished. When next she appeared, it was several years later in the Eastern Kingdoms.
Relationships
Auralind Mistwalker Auralind was a sister Sentinel, and another who suffered grievous injury at Hyjal.
Sarandis Wildbloom Another former sister Sentinel, also damaged at Hyjal.
Inkie Kettleblack Commanding officer.
Casker John The human priest who saved her life at Hyjal. She followed him to the Eastern Kingdoms and eventually into the Black Company, though he has since left that group.
Tadget God-slayer A fellow member of Cobalt Company with whom Eilanthe worked in Terokkar Forest, and a friend of Inkie's. Unusual. Has killed a god.
Animal Companions
Al'Anir A crested white wind serpent, his scales are patterned with subtle, iridescent shifts of blue and violet. His scarlet eyes are gem-bright and alert, and his forked tongue licks the air from time to time, sending a faint, blue-white rill of static electricity shimmering down his length.
Osa A sinuous snow-white frostsaber, Osa hangs warily close by Eilanthe's side in cities or crowds, the tip of his tail flicking restlessly.
Eburi A massive white Winterspring owl, Eburi's piercing golden gaze has become silver-fogged by age. The cantankerous elder bird rarely accompanies his mistress on the hunt these days, but has been a faithful and favored comrade.
Zil'Mushah Called more commonly by Eilanthe simply Zil.
