If you have been to Fallon House, you have almost certainly seen Vane. He's the scary one. Well, one of the scary ones.

Appearance

By human measure, Vane is large.

Vane looks like he may be half vrykul. Vane is 6'8" tall and looks like he could arm-wrestle a bear. Vane is also, in spite of his size, eerily fast and silent. He seems to materialize when his name is spoken, and vanishes when dismissed like some kind of party-trick kvaldir sans seaweed. (He does not actually either materialize or vanish; he's just that quick and quiet.)

Currently somewhere in the territory of his 40s, he has brown eyes, dark brows, and a shaved head, as well as a clean-shaven jaw that looks like it might have been measured by protractor.

If you encounter him at work at Fallon House, you will find that he is extremely polite and does not do facial expressions, and you will learn nothing about him.

His ears are pierced and he does wear earrings, but not on duty.

History

Delwin Vane was born in Brennadam, in Stormsong, Kul Tiras. He was born into a family of shipwrights, the eldest of his parents' three children and the only son. He did his apprenticeship as a wright and then decided at age 18 that he would rather serve the fleet more directly, and enlisted in the navy.

During his decades of service, Vane found himself in almost every crew role aboard the various ships he served. He was an ordinary and then an able seaman, a ship's carpenter, a gunner's mate and then a gunner, a master's mate, a quartermaster, and a bosun. He served in the Second and Third Wars under Lord Admiral Proudmoore.

His last position in Proudmoore's Fleet was as the bosun of a ship called the Zenith Star. It was here that he first met Lieutenant Siamus Fallon; the young officer was fresh from the Academy, and Zenith his first assignment.
